We drove over an hour to test-drive a used F-150 after noticing damage on the vehicle. The salesperson, Dieter, agreed to reduce the price by $500 because of the damage. When he presented the out-the-door price, he added the $500 back and then added another $1,000 fee because we were from out of town and not financing through the dealership. This fee was never disclosed beforehand. When we pushed back, he claimed it was "money held in reserve in case something went wrong," then offered to cut that fee in half. Bottom line: after agreeing to a $500 discount, the final number was actually $1,500 higher than expected. They knew we were from out of town from the start, and I've never experienced pricing tactics like this before. Very disappointing and felt dishonest. On July 29th I purchased a used car from derrow shirkly ford dealership in montipeller, Ohio.  I gave them 20,400 cash for a used 2017 chrysler pacifica. I took the vehical to my home that day. The next day less than 300 miles into owning the car not 24 hours later the check engine light came on. The dealership i bought the van from was notified via email. They asked me to make an appt with services and that they would take care of it. I took the van to them on the next Tuesday as they couldn't get my vehicle to be looked at till Wednesday following.  On Friday services called me and said they would fix the vehicle but would only cover half the cost as I didn't purchase a warrenty. The bill was quoted for 2344.89.  I feel as if this dealership has sold me a vehicle that was not in decent running condition. That they should be held accountable for the entire repair. As I haven't even been able to transfer the van into my name or sign a tittle. When I voiced my concern and let the dealship know that I was concerned about the purchase. I would like it to be fixed or my money refunded. They then called me and told me they would no longer service my van and that I need to come pick it up that day or by Monday end of day.  This is the worst customer serviced I have experienced with any dealership. No solid attempt to rectify this short coming.  There has to be a better way to solve this. read more

An appointment was made on Monday, the beginning of the week, for a Thursday morning appointment ( which was great since it was rather quick and it was for a recall). The staff on the phone acted friendly enough, so I entrusted them with my vehicle. Thursday morning comes, I start my vehicle without any issues and drive it to the dealership. I get checked in and let them know that my daughter and I will be walking to McDonald's while we wait. We ate our breakfast and were just about ready to leave and go back to the dealership when the first of two calls came in. The young guy sounded excited and said that he was happy to let me know that my recall work was completed, but now my vehicle won't start. He asked if I have had any issues with it and I said "no". He then told me that he was going to check the battery (which I've had zero problems with at all). So we ended the call. The next call came in 8 minutes later and he subsequently told me that my battery is junk, corroded, and that he suggested a brand new battery because he left my vehicle ignition in the "on position" while conducting the almost 15 minute recall service. He further stated some numbers at me and again stated that I needed a "new battery". I told him that I would be there in a couple of minutes and ended the call. When I got there, my vehicle was still in the bay with its hood open. We waited for a couple of minutes while the workers were trying to figure some things out amongst themselves by the service desk. The young guy then proceeded to pick up paperwork, directed me towards my vehicle, and then started pointing out numbers on the battery and paperwork. Amongst his flow of information, I stopped him and asked "did my vehicle start ok for you? Did you have any issues getting it started?", in which he replied "no"- like he had been caught red handed. He proceeded to point out a little bit of corrosion on the battery terminal (it wasn't enough to keep it from working), again stated that I needed a new battery, and then walked back over to the service desk. By that point in time I was really frustrated. I looked at him and stated that I'm not buying a new battery, if I was any other customer he would be getting cussed out, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way my vehicle started prior to taking it there for the recall. He said that he would "help me out by giving it a jump but (in a stern voice and with attitude) THE BATTERY WILL NOT LAST AND I WILL NEED A NEW ONE LONG BEFORE WINTER ". I told him to "get it started". Another gentleman jumped my vehicle and I thanked him for doing so. I then proceeded to walk out of the service bay, in which he aggressively told me that I needed to sign paperwork. I wrote on the paperwork "destroyed battery " and signed my name. He didn't give me a copy of the paperwork even though I asked for it, and he stated that he needed to finish it up and then I could have a copy. My vehicle was backed out of the bay, I got in, and proceeded back home. When I got home I shut my vehicle completely off and then restarted it. It started WITHOUT hesitation just like before the service. I went there for a "free" service, but before I could get my vehicle out of there was told that I "needed" something that would be an out of pocket expense. I'm obviously a woman, but know some things about mechanical work, and feel as if I was stigmatized and discriminated against because of my gender. People beware of the service department here trying to make a quick buck. I will knowingly admit that my vehicle is due for new tires (and that's obvious), but nothing was said about that as a common courtesy and potential sale. If that would've been done then this review would be totally different because I would know that they genuinely care about my safety and that they aren't just trying to bully someone into making a quick, expensive decision read more

Bought a car here 2 days ago and was lied to even though I told the salesman it was all the money we had. I was told that it was inspected and nothing major was wrong with it took it in to get it looking at today and it needs a heating module, power steering line is rusted and leaking needs ball joints and arm bar and more things total repairs are $2,800. read more

They were friendly and were even texting with us on a Friday evening. We thought we had everything negotiated and ready on our 2 1/2 hour drive....as long as we checked it out, drove it the truck and were ok with it but that was not the case. We told them we needed to be out of there quickly. But theu were not appreciatove od that until we atood by the door amd waited. Lime others said, they were not willing to budge with the price for us either. Lots of people standing around so one would think it would go faster than it did. The bed reviews made me nervous but my husband and I decided to give this dealership a shot. I'm very glad we did. He drove up to the dealership from Bryan (about 15 minutes away) while I was home with our toddler. The whole process only took about an hour-hour and a half tops. They covered fees, paid off the remainder of my husband's car loan, and were very friendly and professional. Not pushy at all about warranty or any other kind of add-on. Came from Columbus, OH to purchase a Mustang. Deiter met us at the door, allowed us to drive the car. All seemed well until we asked about the second key that normally comes with a car and the owners manual. Deiter was immediately defensive, and condescending. Insisting we could download the manual, and immediately said no to helping us get a second key for the car. When we asked to speak to someone else he said no. Proceeded to tell us that his father-in-law was an owner and was the "cheapest man he had ever met," and he would never agree to the key. We asked about purchasing a key at cost, again the answer was no. Mind you, the car was purchased without asking for one penny off asking price. When stating this and now having to shell out another $200 for a key Deiter stated, "Now I feel uncomfortable that you're stretched so thin to buy this car." No one ever stated that! Deiter treated us with very little respect. He also stated that he "didn't know us from more than a handshake, so why am I inclined to help you?" Derrow Shirkey Ford, Deiter and Toby were all rude, condescending, and extremely defensive when asked about the simplest things. I must say, the staff at Derrow-Shirkey are some of the best people EVER! While traveling on a cross county road trip our Ford RV blew both belts. Right from the start MICHELE MCKINNEY made me feel welcomed and knew I called the right service station. She said we could come right in and they would get us back on the road ASAP. SHE WAS RIGHT!!! We pulled up and everyone welcomed us. They loved our dogs and made us feel at home, giving us coffee and treats for the dogs. JEREMY HANOVER was our man from the start! He was fast and spot on at getting us fixed up and back on the road. He did a once over to see if we needed any other service. He is a really nice guy and knows if Fords!! I do not recommend shopping here for any used vehicle. I bought a used Ford F250 here approximately 2 months ago. The truck looked like it was great shape from the pictures so I travelled down from 3 hours away in Michigan to Ohio to look at it. The truck looked pretty good in person as well. I began trying to work with them on a price for the truck which is where everything started going poorly. They had absolutely no desire to come down on price at all, even though there were items that this vehicle clearly needed. They showed me paper work that it was priced 2nd best in the area for alike trucks. However, I pointed out that this would be for a truck in perfect condition and this truck was not as I knew after doing a pretty thorough look over. It needed quite a bit of work to be considered perfect. After weeks of working with them, they still would not adjust the price, not even one penny, or fix anything that was wrong with the truck. I still bought the truck because I really needed one at the time and there was not much availability for the kind of truck I needed and this one fit the bill. Reluctantly I bought the truck and I was not at all satisfied with my experience with the sales staff. I was not treated the way a customer should be treated in my opinion, especially considering I was spending over $40,000 at their dealership, but that did not seem to matter to them. Then came the troubles after purchasing the vehicle from things I didn't notice before. I told them that I wanted all of the service records and warranty information for the truck on the date that I bought it. And still, 2 months later and after calling them 4 or more times, I have received nothing. I also began to find other things that were wrong with the truck after I got it home. The rear driver side door had clearly been hit or damaged even though they claimed it was never in an accident. There is a crease at the bottom of the door and it is bent so the door hinges do not work properly, making it difficult to close. The windshield wiper fluid pump is shot. The fluid just barely trickles out even though the reservoir is full. When I first looked at the truck, it had been undercoated only a day before I got there to look at it (after calling them to let them know I was coming in a couple days). The undercoating looked good. But when I went to do front end steering work, I found out that the undercoat was just a cover up job because the entire underbody is covered in rust under the coating. I had to cut some of the components with a saw to get them off (and the truck only has 55,000 miles!!). They clearly knew this and covered it up just to make it look good until it was gone. VERY disappointing. Also, the lug nuts were so tight on the studs that I had to take a 4 foot long breaker bar to them to get them off. This means one of their service techs ran them on with an impact wrench and didn't check the torque spec which is a HUGE safety issue. Overall, very dis-satisfied with my experience with Derrow-Shirkey. If you feel the need to work with them, please do yourself a favor and check over every last square inch of the vehicle, have an independent mechanic look at it. And even after that, I would still not recommend buying it because something else is probably being covered up. read more

I found what I thought was a good deal on a used truck online at Derrow Shirkey ford, I drove an hour and a half to go see the truck, I liked what I saw, they told me that the truck went through their "100 point safety inspection" or whatever they call it. I asked about and kind of warranty comes with the truck and they said that the truck doesn't come with a warranty per se but if there's any problems with it after I buy it they'll take care of it for me because that's what they do is take care of the customer. They wouldn't budge on the asking price so I left to discuss with the wife once I got home that. The next day I got the ok with the wife and ended up getting them to drop the asking price by a measly $50 because according to them It's a buyers market... so I pick the truck up the next day after work. Next morning I jump in the truck to go to work and the check engine light is on. So I checked the engine code and is says that the DEF pump Is bad... so I called the dealer and Told them about the issue, they said that they couldn't look at it until Monday ( this is Friday) so I drove it the rest of the day and by the end of the day on Friday (within 24 hours of owning the truck) the oil change light comes on... and then as light comes on telling me to perform a coolant test and then I found the passenger side windshield washer nozzle was broken most likely from washer fluid freezing in it.... so here I am wondering what kind of 100'point inspection they performed that neglected checking the oil or working wiper fluid nozzles. So anyways Monday I drove the truck out there and they diagnosed the DEF pump as bad and told me it would be $1500 to change the pump. I argued about their "warranty per se" And they said that would cover half the charge of the pump or $750, I argued more and they said they would change the pump, but the pump was on back order for 120 days... I found a guy that would install the pump with an aftermarket pump for $1000 and asked them if they would just give me a credit towards the tires that I was purchasing while the truck was already in the shop (for 4 days) and they said they could reimburse me for their cost of replacing the pump which was $690 (what happened to taking care of me if something was wrong with the truck? They tried charging me $1500 when it only cost them $690?) so I took the credit, and had the pump replaced by a local guy, which still set me back another $300 on top of the $1000 I spent on tires because the tires that came with the truck were unsafe to drive on, so obviously was the first expense. I get the truck back and am doing some work underneath the truck to install a gooseneck Hitch and I notice that the spare tire is missing the valve stem Cap and doesn't have a valve core in it... no big deal I guess... i go out and buy a valve core and fill it up with air and low and behold there's a 2" gash in the sidewalk of the spare tire... good job on that 100 point safety inspection.... I'm sure the tire passed without the valve core and with the 2" gash on the sidewall... so a couple days go by and I'm following my wife down the road and she called me and said that my side mirror running light is out, so when I got home I got to investigating and the drivers side mirror turn signal light is blown and both mirror running lights are out. So long story short their 100 point inspection is absolute garbage and once you leave the lot even bothering to take the truck back to get issues taken care of is just going to cost you money... I thought I would get a better vehicle that's been gone through at a dealership and would be the safer purchase, but I was wrong, they were more interested in moving vehicles than going through a vehicle and making sure it was safe before sending it out to the lot to sell. I drove 1.5 hours back and forth to the dealership 3 times during this transaction and would have been better off buying somewhere else. Honestly, spare tire pressure should be the first thing on their 100 point inspection, and then lights.... read more

Exactly the same experience as the last reviewer, bought an F250 from this dealer, alternator stopped working on the drive home and now not more than a month after owning it my local dealer says it has a blown head gasket and has likely had it for a while. I was assured by the dealer that it had gone through a very intensive inspection and had passed with flying colors.. my guess is they didn't do so much as look at it. This dealer perpetuates the persona of abused car dealer in every way. They are the reason I will never buy a Ford again. read more

The negative reviews on here made me question this dealership, but these people are completely wrong. This is hands down the BEST dealership I have ever dealt with! These guys are very up front and don't screw around with you. They have the best prices and customer service around (I drove almost 3 hours to purchase from them). I worked with Toby Shirkey, who is just incredible. His customer service is impeccable. After I drove home, he followed up with me to see how the drive went and how I liked the car. Most dealers would never do that. He goes above and beyond. I worked with Brad through the finance details and had an easy transaction process. He didn't try to sell me all the extra stuff I didn't want like most dealerships. As soon as I said no thanks, he moved on. It was a quick and smooth. I can't say enough about these guys and this dealership! I'm from Grand Rapids, MI, so we have plenty of dealerships but these guys are better. I'll definitely be back!! read more
