I made an appointment for 10 am on Sunday for an infected toe and ear infection. They took every walk in patient ahead of me because I was not Hispanic! They told me my issue wasn't a priority compared with everyone else who by the way didn't look like any of them were on deaths door. This I feel is reverse discrimination! Both receptionists were Hispanic and were just so caring and empathetic toward every Hispanic in that waiting room. I had to wait an hour even though I had an appointment until everyone else was seen and the waiting room cleared out twice. The doctor was good and caring but I was not pleased with the way I was dismissed by the two receptionists. They told me I would be seen if no other emergencies came in. I didn't consider people with a cold an emergency. No one else was dying. Not happy! read more

All of the above on why this is a great caring place. I see why my 78 year old dad always wants to come here when his Dr is not available as he is a delicate picky grumpy man when it comes to Drs. Twice I decided to take him to JFK Instead against his request when I could have brought him here as he requested me to but I thought hospital would be better. Desert Oasis health care Rocks From receiving staff to the very kind caring RN Marlene and Dr. Meghan who was very focused on getting to the root cause of things was an experience that I had to share. Reviewed of BP meds referral to podiatrist for broken foot and IV cause he felt weak and dehydrate, gotta stay on top of slight anemia The only thing hospital did was Xray. Dad always knows best well sometimes God bless all in this medical field that do whatever it takes to help people at least feel better regardless of their health conditions. Don't bother making an appointment. The front desk people are so rigid and incompetent that they can't look through their check-ins to see if anything is emergent to give them priority and then follow with people who made appointments. Additionally they are kind of rude and dismissive. Gave an excuse that they only had one front desk receptionist and they're running behind and even had to send check-ins out to another office for help. Uhhhh...what? If you don't have enough help, maybe get someone else to help. The receptionist who came in late...does she even know how to type? Soooo slooooow. At least the doctor was good. read more

Dr Jones was very professional and caring for my 3 year old grandson who needed stitches after he tripped and had a small but deep scalp laceration . The staff helped calm him with a speedy, excellent job of suturing after screening to rule out head injury. The after care instructions plus stickers and watermelon lollipop complete the coordinated effort by a nurse practitioner and doctor doing their jobs with short wait and fast service . read more

I have always had first class care at Desert Oasis. My doctors and their staff have always been professional and they take their time listening to you during appointments. Even during Covid lockdown my doctor called me to see how I was doing after testing positive. I've seen some of the negative reviews, but I would take them with a grain of salt. Update from my last review (more than a year ago). This place has really cleaned up their act. So professional, all the nurses are so kind, the people at the front desk are attentive and courteous...unbelievable! Seriously, I'm in shock how much it's changed. They even relocated to a bigger and nicer office around the corner. I came back to this urgent care because I had a serious emergency and didn't want to go further. I'm glad I did. I will definitely return. I couldn't stand this place before and even wrote a letter to Desert Oasis. I'm pleased they took it serious. People deserve to be treated kindly when they're not feeling well. Below is my old post: I can't stand this urgent care. But unfortunately I chose the closest due to the level of my pain. I never learn, I should consider going to another one because EVERY TIME I come here, they are rude and I swear they only want to bill your insurance for crappy service! The wait is horrendous, and when they finally do see you it takes 5 minutes max only to walk away being told to take over the counter medicine. Avoid this place!!! We came here because it was closest to the area we happen to be in at the time. My husband was in extreme, crippling pain when we arrived and aside from him having to stand during the duration of a typical Urgent Care/Emergency room wait and throw up just layin out on the carpet, it was a good experience. The lady who took my hubbys vitals was thorough while being quick as she understood how much pain he was in. She got us into the examination room where about 5-10min later Dr. Sallenbach came in to meet with us. Dr. Sallenbach diagnosed my hubby and got him some immediate medication to help ease the pain. He also ordered for my hubby's perscription be called in so we just had to pick it up. We would have gotten the perscription earlier, but it was sent to the wrong pharmacy - which was no big deal. I called the office and within 5 min it was changed. :) The reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because this super good and sick baby boy vomited (after trying to hold it in his mouth by his hand) all over the lobby carpet and no one made any attempt to clean it up or put a sign out saying to not step there. The mother even said to the front desk, "my son just threw up all over the place right now." The sweet lil kid proceeded to throw up along the way into the bathroom. You'd think that with the recent issue in San Diego with the college girl who had menangitis or worst case scenario - ebola... It would heighten medical offices (espeically emergency and urgent care facilities) awareness of maintaining some sort of sanitary conditions of their facilities. Unsuspecting people were just walking all over it. tracking it into the back office on their shoes. Great way to expose everyone (including the office staff) to someone's bodily fluids! Makes me wonder what else is on that floor that hadn't been cleaned. I'm undecided if we'd be back if we neeeded "urgent" care. I do like the staff, though they were great! They were very nice and they took care of my hubby. I'm so appreciative of that, but I really am uncomfortable with the fact that they didn't not have some kind of "watch your step" sign where the vomit is. read more

Horrible experience! 2 hours to be seen and when the female Dr came into the room she was in a bad mood and it showed and wasn't hearing me out and was cutting me off as I spoke. Typical Indio service and that is why nobody likes to do anything with Indio medical/businesses. I went in for an X-ray due to my primary dr being almost a month booked. And the Dr at this urgent care said she was only gonna refer me due to the time I waited. Stay away from this place and go to Palm desert location, I went to PD prior to the Indio location. I have been to this place before, it was what I would call shop worn. Two years since my last visit I needed to see a doctor ASAP, I called my PC doctor to see if he could see me. He told me to go to urgent care. I wasn't too thrilled to go to any doctor during covid-19 outbreak, but when I got there they had a check-in at the door to check you before they would let you in. Waiting room was set up so no one was close to anyone else. They got me in very fast, saw doctor in less than ten min. They ran so test, got some meds, referral to a specialist. The doctor called me the next day to see how I was doing, which I thought was great. The place itself was very clean very well staffed and equipped. Also looked like the inside had been redone not to long ago. read more

Wow by far the worst service ever. My son has been peeing frequently and said it hurts when he lees so I took him to urgent care. Thought it was urinary tract infection but the doctor got the results and smirked at me when it wasn't. Then he asks me what he wants me to do. I said aren't you the doctor... if I knew I wouldn't be here. Then I asked what can you do to find out and he kept hesitating and telling me he's not a pediatrician. Why wouldn't you call one or find out? I don't understand why these doctors ask me what they want me to do. I came before and it was a joke then too. Don't bring your kids here. Do not go here!!!!! I made an appointment for Tuesday because I requested the ModernaCOVID Vaccine. At check-in I confirmed I was getting Moderna even read the side effect papers for it but the nurse gave me the shot and handed me the vaccine card that said Pfizer. I asked again what I received and they made an error she gave me Pfizer apparently they give whatever they want without letting you know so Just BEWARE! The only thing supervisor said was sorry it was their error and it's like the same thing so I should be fine & suggested I get the second dose of Pfizer! They are a Joke! read more

I came here for my first time without my new insurance card and tried to get seen by using my dad's social (I'm on his insurance plan) and the first guy I spoke to told me he was completely unable to help me and my insurance provider wasn't answering because it's Sunday. So I was at a dead end and was almost going to pay out of pocket at least over $100. Another man, named Robert, helped me IMMEDIATELY and was easily able to get my insurance number through my dads social. He was even able to print me a copy of my card to give it to me so when I pick up my medication at the pharmacy I have my insurance number. It's rare to come across such caring and helpful medical receptionist (I'm not sure exactly what his title is) but he was amazing. Thank you so much Robert!! If I could give a zero-I would. If you can go any other place, do yourself a favor and go there. Unfortunately I didn't receive proper care and found myself back in (another) urgent care yesterday. Basically the on call doctor opened the door, looked across the room at my wound, left came back 5 minutes later to say "the literature says...." and explained what she looked up on internet. I then waited an hour for a simple shot. (This wasn't the worst part-I understand things get busy, the nurse was apologetic) but my point in all of this is, at no point did anyone ever look at my wound. It had a bad infection in it and needed to be drained. But no. I got a shot, antibiotics and discharge papers that told me they gave me paper on wound care. Now-its my fault for not speaking up. It's my fault for not demanding more from a healthcare professional. But I guess when you aren't feeling well and you do decide it's bad enough to go to a doctor your instinct is to let trust in your care take over. Lesson learned I was finally able to receive proper care yesterday at another facility (not associated with Desert Oasis) and after they had to cut open both sides of my finger to clear the infection, and put me on two other antibiotics much stronger then the first-I finally feel at peace that I am actually on the mend. Don't go there. This was a simple wound to the tip of my index finger...can you imagine if it was more serious? read more

Doctors and Nurses are great, but Terrible Billing Department. DO NOT USE FOR YOUR PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER (PCP) It was after hours, therefore my daughter could not see her doctor or go to Urgent care. They were closed. Since my daughters fever had reached 104 & she had fainted several times we took her to the emergency room. Since we have an HMO this was our PCP. Well they would not approve the ER visit, since it was not an emergency. Right, a 10 year old with 104 and fainting is not an emergency. Too make this long story short, they rejected the hospitals claim, but got a check from the insurance company anyway. Instead of calling us and telling us this they just kept this info to themselves, and didn't pass the money on to the hospital. So the Hospital sent the bill to collections. All Desert Oasis had to do was call us, but they neglected to. Got my insurance company involved, they were not couteous or very helpful when the insurance company called. Now, a year later its finally all set straight. I don't know if they're incompetant or just lazy, but I advise you look somewhere else for a medical group if you have an HMO. We had many experiences with this place, and this was the only problem. Do not go here or even visit this place. Doctors do not have a clue and they will just push you over to see another facility before even caring for you or operating on you. We moved my mother far away from this facility and care. We are not getting better and faster treatment for her after dealing with this awful facility for almost 3 months. Seriously if you wish to get better THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. People read reviews and my mother was never treated and instead pushed off and off until we had enough. She is at St Joseph now where only in a week did they diagnose my mom as well as operate and from every doctor here they have all stated why it took so long from desert oasis and Eisenhower. Yeah the staff can be a little bit more friendlier and smile but at least they try to move patients along pretty quickly. The doctors can be a little faster too, because I've been in when it's not busy and the doctor still takes a long while to come see you. But overall they are ok. read more

I came here on a Friday afternoon around 3:00 pm. I got lucky and arrived while there was no one in the waiting room. My daughter had croup and her pediatrician can rarely see patients same day so we came here. The nurse in the front was incredibly kind and took all of our info. A couple of people that walked in after me were served first but I didn't mind, as their situation might have been more dire than mine. The doctor pretty much confirmed that she had croup and prescribed medication, the only thing that bothered me was that I felt rushed out by him. I didn't want to take up too much of his time but I did have a question or two. He quickly rushed out after seeing us then we had to wait about 45 minutes to have a nurse come in and hand me some medication to give to my daughter. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The waiting room and patient rooms were clean, nurses are nice. read more

I came here as a follow up due to a head injury I had at work 3 days ago. The lady at the front desk told me they were fully booked and I had to wait till next week for a follow up and I had to set up an appointment. Are you serious!? I was the only person in the waiting room to top it off. My company told me just to show up and they'll take care of me. And from what I remember a check up only takes a few seconds. They were just rude enough to deny help towards a patient. Instead of asking for a supervisor, I just drove all the way to desert urgent care in Palm Desert. After I told them I just needed a follow up they helped me right away. Great friendly staff at Palm Desert excellent service...I was born and raised in Indio but I doubt I'd be going back to this Oasis urgent care any time soon. At least train the front desk better. Horrible service, at first I thought it would be fine, clean facility great service at desk. Nurse told me one person ahead of me and it would be twenty minutes. That turned into an hour without notification. A simple "we got busy ..patients that were more extreme than you" would have been nice. When I came out and asked the lady at the desk (Who was the actual doctor) "Dyan Cole" about my wait... she was rude, no eye contact etc. she responds with "other patients came in". This is a business after all and a I am a paying patient. Never again will I visit this place. Bad service and a bad doctor. I took my 2 sons there (2,4yrs old), they had bad "colds" extremely high fevers , and basically looked and sounded really really bad. The PA on staff (bc apparently no one sees a real Dr anymore at these places) told me (after looking quick at ear nose & throat) that they have "bad colds" I practically begged her to look again bc as their mom I knew something was wrong. She told me it was just a cold & sent me on my way. The VERY next day I took them to DRMC ER & my one son had Pneumonia, and my other had a double ear infection. I finally got them the medicine they needed & they started feeling better in 24hrs, NO THANKS TO THEM. Horrible. read more

Feeling bad for a older gentleman that came in today walking with the assistance of a cane who told Darlene the receptionist in a quite whispering voice as soon as he walked in a semi crowded waiting area "I can't read or write" Darlene told the gentleman sir can you at least write your name and birthdate he said I can try. Once done Darlene asked him can you write why your here he pointed to his bottom / butt said it burns she then said can you write burn? By this time the gentleman was becoming upset and said "I can't read or write I told you that when I walked in." said burn B U R N that's all you need to write . The gentleman said "I can't believe no one here can help me read or write on these forms, just give me my cards back and I will go somewhere we're they can help me." At this time I stood up and walked to the counter I said "I can't believe you can't help him , everyone sitting in this room already knows this man can't read & write the least you can do is help him or get someone to help him." Darlene just stood there finally a woman from the back office came out to the waiting area and said what is it I can help you with? I didn't expect this type of service/behavior from this office but I was most concerned about the humility this gentleman had to go thru. I only put one star because I had too or else I wouldn't leave any! We arrived just a couple of days ago to get my husband checked out because he believed to have spider bites. The waiting room was pretty empty so we were seen rather quickly. An old man walked in letting them know what he needed and one of the ladies up front was very rude to him almost yelling at him! I was surprised that at a professional place like this they would act that way. So we went into the room saw the dr for maybe a minute and that was it. He diagnosed my husband and we were on our way out. A couple days later my husband needed to return to be seen so he can have a Drs note saying he was not contagious and was okay to work (the dr never said he was contagious and he said he was able to work but his work needed a note) the ladies up front argued that they don't do that there! Even if he had to pay again to be seen they said NO! I was shocked that he couldn't get another consultation so he could get a note! Even though we were going to pay AGAIN for it!! We decided to go to Eisenhower urgent care we explained what happened and they happily took care of us and he got his Drs note! NEVER GOING BACK TO DESERT OASIS IN INDIO AGAIN! I went in to Desert Oasis on Sunday with abdominal pain which turned out to be Kidney stones( very Painful) . Unfortunately after 30 minutes no one even asked for my medical card or asked any questions why I was there. We went to JFK Emergency and had excellent service and care. If you are in crippling pain don't treat your customers like sheep. It would be nice to communicate with your patients don't be rude and unfortunately our medical plan has us going to Desert Oasis which is a waste of time for proper care but they get paid from our insurance companies for lack of service and rudeness.
