Horrible service! I'm super sick and called yesterday requesting a phone appt. They scheduled me…read morefor 11:15 today. A staff member called and took my height and weight over the phone then placed me on hold and told me the PA is referring me to the urgent care. Never got to speak to a Dr and that was the end of the call. They could have very easily said that yesterday when I called. Quality of care in this office is shitty. Seems like a scam to double bill the insurance.

I had a good experience here…read more New to the desert, I don't have insurance or a primary care doc. But some complications due to allergies needed immediate attention. The wait wasn't bad at all. I'd brought my iPod, ready for hours of waiting since my issue wasn't as urgent as wheezing or a broken bone. But they have a TV in the wait room, and I was in triage rather quickly. I liked Dr. Cyrus. He introduced himself, shook my hand, and sat down to listen to me, looking at me while I spoke. Not all docs do that, and it made a difference, especially since we only spent 30-45 seconds together. That was all it took. I told him my issue, and he said, "I'm going to give you med A and also med B," which was exactly as I'd hoped. (It's the treatment that helped me with these symptoms in the past.) Dr. Cyrus has been doing this for decades, so there was no need for much discussion. If he hadn't introduced himself and looked at me while I spoke, a short visit might make me feel slighted. But instead, I knew I had a confident, competent physician who could quickly resolve my issue without wasting anyone's time. Best of all, despite not having insurance, my visit wasn't as financially devastating as I'd feared. Urgent care is expensive, but it still wasn't as bad as it could have been. My Rx, however...that hurt my wallet. PS The Internet said they open at 9AM, but they are open at 7AM.

Disorganized front staff and intake process. Seems like a combo of apathy and lack of training…read more Went in for a foot injury and received a referral for approved X-Ray locations. Unfortunately, the form was at least 3 years out of date so many locations were closed and/or didn't provide X Rays. After driving to several locations that were listed on their form, we eventually decided to go to an urgent care that had an on-site X Ray facility. With some basic administrative staff training and updates, Palm Desert Urgent Care could get up to speed and provide a standard of care that customers expect.

Dr. Kazi - my PCP - is great in person, as was Megan the P.A. for Urgent Care, but it doesn't work…read morethat the office tries to do both. The practice set-up is such that I had an appt. - as his ongoing patient - and waited over an hour, because the urgent care PA didn't show so Dr. Kazi had to cover. The office staff didn't differentiate / seem to know who was his patient with an appt. vs. walk-ins. Then last Friday I had an Urgent Care visit and was swabbed for strep, Covid and flu and SIX DAYS later they still couldn't give me my test results. The office voicemail encourages you to text your message, but no one ever replied. When I called over the past 2 days, the receptionists have been telling me they're not allowed to give results. The first receptionist said I needed to make an appointment - two days out - to have the doctor give me the results. The results that I would've had days ago on MyChart, with most other doctors. The next receptionist said she'd "send a message to Dr. Kazi" asking if he'll allow it or he needs to call me, and she'd let me know by end of day. Never heard back. Called today and receptionist said there was no record of my call yesterday. It's too bad, because Dr. Kazi and Megan deserve better support.

Unfortunately, they were out of network and hadn't informed me beforehand. It's ultimately my responsibility to be aware of my network, but here's the kicker: my daughter was seen by the doctor for a mere two minutes before he informed me that she needed to be taken to Loma Linda Children's Hospital because it was a serious issue. We immediately drove to Loma Linda Children's Hospital and waited in the emergency room. After a thorough examination, the Loma Linda doctors sent us home, stating that she was 100% fine. They simply said, "I don't know what kind of doctor you took her to, but she's fine." As a result, we are now responsible for paying $300 for a two-minute visit, a scare that led us to believe there was a serious issue, and not to mention the five hours of travel and wait time at Loma Linda.
