I visit the area a couple times a year and always try to hit the farmers market…read more All the produce I've ever purchased here has been top notch. I got some spinach and radishes this week that are just divine; I've been putting them in everything. (I suggest putting some fresh spinach at the bottom of your ramen bowl and letting the hot broth soften the leaves up; sliced radishes go on top) The tamales I got this week were AMAZING. A couple years back I got some not-good tamales, but when I saw the vendor this week I was like "yes, these are the good tamales!!!" Oh, and if you see the stall with the pistachio croissants, go for it.

*Adam & Brother's Products Rock*…read more I'm simply trying to help a brother (and sister) out so if you're a lover of hummus & dips like me, then you can't go wrong with this incredible stand & both. I've been a customer of theirs for almost 15 years -- when they first began selling at the Beverly Hills Farmers Market. I was ecstatic (and did cartwheels) when I found them out here throughout the Coachella Valley. Nearly all their hummus & dips are 100% vegan & gluten-free and made fresh with all natural ingredients at their own distribution center kitchen. They have at least a dozen flavors of hummus. But my favorite is the basic Original Hummus. I also LOVE their Tahini...and Eggplant Dip. I can count on 10 people's hands how many meals & snacks I've created & cooked with these 3 products through the years...and it contributed to winning over my wife's heart when we first began dating and I made lunches & dinners for her. They also have amazing pita breads & pita chips for all their amazing dips. Lastly, the cool and friendly, laid back guy in charge of this extraordinary booth is the One & Only, Adam. He not only loves what he does and is passionate about pleasing all his customers -- he treats everyone as if they're regulars. If you have a chance, check them out because you'll be glad you did...and if you're unsure what to buy & try, Adam happily explains all the products and offers samples. And be sure to tell Adam that Scott sent you :) Brother's has been a game charger in my life... {{{High Fives}}} {{{Fist-Bumps}}} Grandslam Huge Fan

We went out to twentynine palms to see a friend of ours play a show at The Palms restaurant. With not too much to offer near by I plugged in the address into Yelp and saw that this place was close enough. I called Robin and told her we REALLY wanted to stay and was just so hoping they had a room available in the house. She said, sure, but she couldn't guarantee what the place would look like due to a bad sandstorm they had just endured. This place is like cowboy heaven. The cleanliness, immaculate. No sign of any sand storm. Every inch of the land is ornately and meticulously designed by her and her husband Manuel. Vintage objects placed here and there making every step of the landscape look picturesque. They greeted us so warmly and gave us a small tour of the outside including their beautiful salt water pool. We weren't prepared for the inside. All refurbished wood, native american carpet motifs, vintage knick knacks galore, and not to mention a stereo with a great record collection as well as air-conditioning and a TV. We were so happy to be at the Tower Homestead we quickly raced off to see our friend in concert and quickly came back so we could embrace this beautiful ranch. Manuel anticipated our move and when we came back he had placed salsa and chips on the table for us to snack on! In the morning Robin cooked us a great organic breakfast. Manuel took us around and we chatted about the history of the place. We got up early just to enjoy their company and the morning desert. Right before we left we visited Robins amazing store in town called Cowboy Attic where my friend and I couldn't help but buy some of that cowboy decor we had been ensconced in at the ranch. We told Robin and Manuel this wouldn't be the last time they see us. We are currently thinking of things we can do close by just so we have a reason to go back and stay. Without a doubt the best decision I have ever made on a Bed and Breakfast.

What makes it special isn't just the pocket of life in the middle of all that desert, it's how thoughtfully it's been preserved and shared. The paved loop trail is an open invitation, designed so almost anyone can experience it, which matters. Beauty shouldn't be gatekept by steep inclines and perfect knees. When we visited, most of the loop was closed for repairs. The kind of moment where you think, "well, that's that." But then, plot twist, kindness showed up. A staff member took the time to talk with my husband and, seeing his mobility challenges, gave him permission to walk the full trail. That small act? It meant everything. We didn't just see the oasis, we experienced it. And what an experience it was. A slow, easy walk, the kind your body thanks you for. Quiet learning along the way. A desert iguana making a cameo like it had somewhere important to be. The soft, unmistakable call of a quail echoing through the stillness. No big show, just little moments stacking up into something meaningful. It's peaceful, beautiful, and layered with history you can feel even if you don't read a single sign. The kind of place that doesn't demand your attention but earns it anyway. Go. Walk it slowly. Let it sink in. It's one of those places that leaves a quiet mark and somehow stays with you longer than the louder stops.

So sad that the Maaryam and other tribes were driven off this land. And worse that the water was depleted by 1940 so it had to be pumped in mechanically. Yuck- all around. The brush in the park looked much healthier than this. The only thing nice was that I could walk my dog in.

It's always so peaceful in the mornings, with plenty of other walkers; most of which are friendly and wave back. Throughout the day, depending on the heat of course, you'll find families and their small kiddos enjoying the playground and / or having a picnic. If school is out, you'll often find the older kids climbing all over the place too - most of them try to look out for the smaller ones. They do have a bathroom that's kept unlocked during park hours. It can be a little dark in there and they do get messy at times but they have people who clean them daily. This is definitely a cleaner and nicer park than most, especially for being in the desert. The grass is kept lush and ironically is the first place our son ever even felt grass. He's 4 now and thoroughly enjoys how interactive the playground is. A must for any family that wants to get out and enjoy the outdoors and to be around greenery. They also have outdoor basketball courts in a caged area that I've seen a few pick up games pop up from time to time. There are plenty of picnic tables and several open bbq charcoal grills available. There's a community swimming pool open during the summer and though I've never personally used it, have heard good things. The sidewalks are kept in good shape and wheelchair accessible. Anyone wanting to throw or kick a ball around, there is more than enough room for multiple families to do so.
