I was recently camping in Joshua tree and we stopped into town to hit the visitor center and grab some extra supplies. I saw an unassuming restaurant with a sign that just said "brewery". After a couple days of camp food, The temptation was too great to resist and we popped inside. It far exceeded my expectations. There were only four beers on draft but the road runner red ale was delicious. My group all got various types of hot dogs and I upgraded mine to the Seoul dog special that was available at the time. It was a hot dog made of brisket ends and served on a brioche bun with daikon, gochuchang, and spicy mayo. Wow. It was incredible! The layout was nice and convenient as well with self-seeding, ordering at the counter, and a water station with little mini pictures to get enough water for your table. If I find myself in Joshua tree again in the future I will definitely make a stop here for lunch and a beer. read more

Came in on what might be the hottest weekend of the year, nonetheless less the space and service was spectacular! Tom, our bartender had great recommendations of beer and food. Had an Adobe RD IPA that was full of flavor yet very light ! We tried their food specials too! We were driving back from Arizona and wanted to take a pit stop. We saw this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try! It's a really cute spot and nice parking area. They have yummy beer and a nice selection to choose from. We shared the Fuego Smash burger with the pasta salad. Omg I did not realize the pasta salad would be so yummy! Good place for a quick post Joshua tree park bite near the north entrance. Service was friendly and our beers and hot dogs came out quick. I went with a #23 dog and the relish was very neon green but tasted good. My sweetie got a burnt end chili cheese dog and scarfed it, but didn't really notice a difference with the "burnt ends" hot dog. It was large and juicy. Not dry at all I thought I was eating meat burger. I didn't know it was all mushrooms. I thought I ordered burger with mushrooms toppings. The melted cheese, cilantro dressing, pickles, tomatoes and lettuce all came together so nicely. Who knew I was eating a veggie burger till I reread the menu again. The best veggie burger I had! Dined in Saturday night. It wasn't too busy and both the food and beer came out quickly. You order food on the kiosk and beer at the counter. The menu is pretty limited. I wish they had fries as a side. It's $15 just for a burger. We got two turkey smash burgers without tomato for about $30, plus a $3 side of chips, total around $35. The burgers didn't come with condiments, but you can grab packets, water cups, and utensils yourself. Also tried the Delly Donut which was a bit sour as described on the menu, and the Adobe Road IPA which was really bitter, total around $18. So good had to come back twice before hitting the road back to LA. Passed by this spot driving over to BLM land, had a feeling it would be a legendary brewery -- and it absolutely was. Came for the beer, but they had a vegan portobello burger that had me skeptical if it was vegan at all it was SO GOOD. And the beer? GOD TIER. They brew in house! So cool! All we can say is WOW... when we first drove by, we thought it was a bar but it is so much more because they have amazing food! Not a lot of selections, but the food they offer is so well conceived, flavor wise! The turkey smash with the most amazing gluten free bun, vegan Gouda cheese, fresh tomato, and crunchy lettuce just hit the spot on a hot day like this. Even the dog patio sitting area was well thought out, with a large covered area, cold water misters (which help a lot!!!), and the server even brought cold water with ice in it for our dogs! I love the peaceful desert life, but one of the things I've missed since moving out here is having a good local brewery or cidery where I can just pop by to sip craft beverages on a casual patio with my friends... Well, the wait is over! Enter 29 Beer Co! I've only been twice, and I'm a lightweight these days, so I've only tried a few of their offerings, but I've thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The service is friendly and helpful, and you can buy your beer by the taster, the pint or the pitcher. If you're not sure what you want or want to take it easy after a long day of sightseeing in 115 degree weather, the tasters are only $2.50 each!! Deal of the day, as I like to say!! They also have a nice offering of food, so you don't have to drink on an empty stomach or stop somewhere else before or after unless you just want to. My only real criticisms would be that it's a little sports bar-ish with giant TVs everywhere blasting "the game", but I also know I'm in the minority when it comes to interest in the sportsball, and I'm pretty goods at tuning it out if I'm on the patio watching the gorgeous Mojave sunset having good conversation with local friends or new friends I've just met as they travel through this destination town... All-in-all, it's a home run so be sure to touch down while you're passing through and slam dunk one of those tasty brews or grab a growler full to tackle at home! See? So glad i found this (new?) brewery-pub while working in Joshua Tree/29 Palms -- all the beer is brewed locally , and honestly the hazy IPA i had was fantastic could easily stand up to any Los Angeles or San Diego brew, and is at least right on par with (or sitting slightly above!) something like Offshoot brewery's "RELAX" or anything from (the soon to be defunct) Brouwerji West will gladly and eagerly return whenever i have to work out this way again soon! Adding in that the food was very good too -- "smaller" limited menu , but goes well with the beer offerings. Mainly burgers (beef, turkey or veggie/mushroom) and dogs (build your own or 2 pre-built dogs) with cold sides (chips, cole slaw, potato salad) make up the menu -- on the day i visited they also had a new side -- "house beans" which i believe is a take on baked beans and i would assume served hot/warm (i forgot to ask ) ... but i got the turkey burger and a side of cole slaw, both i enjoyed very much. Turkey burger was cooked well and still juicy, with nice complimenting flavors & textures from jack cheese & banana peppers. The cole slaw was GREAT!! -- i really appreciated that it wasnt swimming (or drowning) in mayonaise, and was still very vibrant with crunch & texture. When i go back I'll probably try out a beef burger or one of the dogs .... also i have seen several questions as to why their aren't any FRIES (or anything fried for that matter) on the menu -- my understanding would be that obviously a newer small business with limited work space for the kitchen , and its most likely that they couldn't factor in a deep fryer for the kitchen early on, or perhaps the zoning (and likely additional insurance costs) was too prohibitive. Might be something that could happen in the future i suppose. (But hey -- a table top modern AIR FRYER could probably get the job done in a pinch these days ) read more
