I went in last night with the idea of what I wanted to get for my mom. PJ was there, drew it up in 30 minutes and then we were tattooing! PJ is absolutely amazing. Not only was the tattoo perfect, he was truly a joy to spend the time with. Like... I literally want to hang out with him I'd had a terrible experience for my last tattoo and it took me 8 years to get the guts up to try again. He has completely renewed my faith. I'm normally very socially anxious and awkward so spending that much time with someone I don't know can be challenging haha. I live in Palm Desert (58 years old) and have called and left messages or sent text messages to several tattoo places from Palm Springs to Palm Desert recently over a 2 week time frame, and never received a call back. I found Desert Rose Tattoo on YELP and was impressed with their reviews. It sounded like it was a nice clean place with incredible customer service. I am leaving on a long trip next week so I wanted to get my tattoo beforehand so I drove over there at 4pm this afternoon and was greeted by Joel. I explained I wanted 2 small tattoos and showed him pics. From the start you could see that he was extremely knowledgeable on what would work and what wouldn't. He was honest. Based on that, I opted to just get one done while rethinking the 2nd one. He drew up my design (which was a name) and I was on the table getting my tattoo within 20 minutes. He was kind and made sure I was happy with the whole experience. I can honestly say I did not feel a thing with his gentle touch. This is my 7th tattoo so I know how it can potentially feel. In the end, I am extremely happy with my tattoo. It is simple name "Angelo" that I got on my inside ankle. Angelo is a 15 year old kitty that I am currently fostering because he is on hospice with Kidney Disease amongst several other medical issues. His quality of life is not well and he is scheduled to get euthanized this Saturday. I love him and always want to be reminded with this tattoo of the blessing I had to be able to care for him. I seriously feel it was fate that those other shops did not call me back and that I was directed to Joel at Desert Rose Tattoo. Went for my birthday to get my first tattoo along with two of my friends. We called to see if they do walk-ins, they gladly took us! They took our temperatures and hand us you hand sanitizers before we touched anything, which is really good! It was really clean! The staff was really chill, as I was a little nervous for my first tattoo one the artist talked to me a little which made me feel better.
