Best option in 20-30 mile radius for business travelers. So it's more of a 3-star but I enjoyed my…read morestay. Check-in process was pleasant - the check-in staff was friendly and funny. The grounds people were active during the day but friendly as well. They keep the grounds clean but the road is rough coming in. The rooms are outdoor and one side of the building faces a field where migrant workers are busting their butts. The gate that separates the workers from the parking lot of the resort is less than 50 feet, and perhaps less than 200 feet from your front door depending on your room. So I was able to watch them as I sat in my car to witness something I've only read about (R.I.P. Cesar Chavez). It helps you appreciate how you get your food....But the room had a balcony where I could tuck away my American guilt to find two chairs with a nice view of the golf course which is well-manicured. And I could see a few people playing golf. It was peaceful sitting out there. My room was spacious, clean, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, work desk with chair and lounge chair and a separate bench ottoman tucked under TV. The bathroom was surprisingly small. I can get to El Centro in less than 15 minutes for restaurants. There is a restaurant on-site but I did not eat there (and recommend just going into El Centro) And 7-11, a small market and Family Dollar is 3 miles away if you want snacks or bottled water. Overall, good stay. I'll return.

It is now called the Ramada by Wyndham but should be called the Dirty No Tell Motel. After getting our room key there was a drunk lady next to us at our room who had broken out car windows and was slurring so bad I had to stop talking to her after I made sure she was ok. When we got in the room the pillows had brown hair all over them, the bedding did not look clean, and the room smelled like dank air. Only good thing about the room, was the toilet and sink where brand new. Thank God we only have to sleep here a couple hours before we continue our drive to San Diego. Stay as far as you can away from this hotel, it is not what it looks like online and is not any sort of resort or country club. Buyers beware.

Another great Fazio course! The layout and course conditions were top-notch from start to finish…read more One of the standout touches? Free tacos at the turn -- such a fun and unexpected service perk that really hit the spot. We had several meals at the clubhouse during our stay, and overall the food was solid and the cocktails definitely delivered. That said, during peak times, service can slow down quite a bit -- something to keep in mind if you're on a tight schedule. We booked the stay & play package and made the most of it. By the fourth round (thanks to the free replays), we really got to know the course well. If you're striking it well off the tee and can read the greens, there are definitely scoring opportunities. But when the wind picks up, it adds a serious layer of difficulty -- so adjust expectations accordingly. All in all, a memorable trip and a course I'd absolutely recommend if you haven't played it yet.

I finally made it back out to Rams Hill Golf Club. I've visited a few times recently, but only for…read morelunch and to enjoy the great atmosphere--this time, I was excited to get back on the course. My son flew in from Dallas, Texas for his birthday, and playing this beautiful desert layout was at the top of his list. One of the perks that sealed the deal was Rams Hill's generous birthday offer--free play after 12pm. A classy gesture from a course that's long been one of my favorites in Southern California. The only downside? It wasn't my birthday. With rates having climbed significantly, I did my best to convince my son to consider a more affordable option--maybe even something closer to home--but he held firm. He knew this course had always been high on my list, and he wanted to experience it for himself. As always, we were greeted with friendly smiles upon arrival. We warmed up on the range and soon met our starter, Don, who got us going. He mentioned the cart service running throughout the round and also let us in on a great surprise--complimentary street-style tacos on the 14th. That definitely raised some excitement. This course truly is a visual treat. The tee boxes were tidy, and the fairways--at least from the tee--looked lush and inviting. However, it didn't take long to notice something was off. Walking up to the first green, I couldn't help but say, "Yikes." The surface lacked the smoothness and softness I'd come to expect from past rounds here. I stayed optimistic, hoping it was just an isolated issue. Unfortunately, while the greens improved slightly as we went on, the fairways told a different story. Several holes had patchy or thin lies, and in some areas, it felt like we were hitting off very little grass at all. I found myself increasingly frustrated--not just because I had talked the course up so much to my son, but also because of the price point. When you're paying a premium, it's fair to expect conditions that match. On a positive note, the tacos at the 14th were excellent and a fun touch. However, we never saw the beverage cart for the entire round, which was surprising given it had been mentioned at the start. All in all, Rams Hill still holds a special place for me, but this visit was a letdown compared to past experiences. For now, it may come off my "must-play" recommendation list--at least until either the conditions improve or the pricing better reflects the current state of the course.

LOL!) driving by and thought it would be handy to get around. The RV park is pretty good sized and I would go to the fitness room more often if I could drive. So, we thought we'd check out golf cars. Our criteria was price-we weren't sure how long we will stay (so far, we think a year) so it should be cheap enough to be able to sell it if we leave. We got a card from the RV park office with A-1 Cars so we went online and also called to check out prices. Luckily, they had quite a few new and used cars to check out. They have quite a number at their store-from souped up models that could go off-road with extra torque to fancy ones with nice rims! Then they had the basic ones we were looking for-nice looking but cheaper. They also have a number of cars that they can customize to your specs. We saw one that fit us perfectly! It's an older model, is super cute and the price was great. The batteries were only 2 years old, which makes the deal better since we don't have to replace right away. I got to drive it and the thing moves out too. They were still fixing it up for sale and there were a few things the hubs wanted to fix (like the holes where the old fashioned lights went-though I thought Hawaiian flower stickers would be cute over them. (Alas, no, they got caps that made it look like they were supposed to be there. They would finished cleaning and finish the details and even deliver it tomorrow! We were SO excited when they delivered it the next day. It looked great and everyone we talked to (and from our research) thought we got a great deal!
