Amazing golf course in dessert! It's a bit of a drive, but well worth it. It does get hot, and unexpectedly for me quite humid. 10am tee time 90F, and eventually hit 115 . The great staff along with cold towels, frozen grapes, shaved ice, and waters kept me going. Great service. Greens were smooth. Picturesque holes. Clean carts with gps showing yardage. Allowed for a much needed break for lunch after 9th hole this day. We were 2x foursome. They slotted us back in at the perfect time, no one behind us. Staff wiped down our clubs when we were done. Food was very good.

Rams Hill is an absolute gem. The course is immaculate, and the unlimited replay, free tacos, and range balls make it a killer value. It was a hot day, but they kept us cool with frozen grapes, shaved ice, and water stations throughout the course such a nice touch. Lunch at the clubhouse was decent (the Hole-in-One burger could use some sauce), but the overall experience was amazing. The course is challenging it definitely ate our group alive but we had a blast. The drive is long, but 100% worth it. Can't wait to go back!

Rams Hill is one of the purest courses out there and well worth the drive to Borrego Springs. A Tom Fazio design, the course shows off his signature giant fairways and lightning fast greens with fluffy fairways. Beware of the false fronts! The pro shop is super friendly and helpful with great merchandise. Not to mention the free tacos at the turn and a free cookie to end your round as well!

Course was in excellent condition. Very unique and difficult due to lightning fast greens and fairways. Layout features several greens that are surrounded by embankments - think a huge bowl. As a result, bank shot approaches are often the best approach. Only the greens are faster than the fairways, on some downhill holes you can even putt your approach shot from 100 yards. Course is not overly long and fairways are generally very wide. A good approach and short game are essential to score well here. Top notch facilities and service.

Second time here , review for July 21 2025 . First year they are open year round and they might want to reconsider as the course was in horrible condition dead fairways dead carry greens just a horrible experience and no tacos!

Ask the Community - Rams Hill

What is the current state of the greens as of 3/28/21? I was about to book Easter weekend for our 7th anniversary (first visit) and comments just this week on quality of course is very concerning. Thanks!

Played a round today. The greens weren't bad, been a lot better though in previous years. Seemed a little dry, but again not bad. Our family has about 4 rounds in this season and the course has not lived up to it's normal standards. Do not…

I am supposed to play your course next week. I ran into a guy who a few days ago played it and said it was in terrible shape - burnt out fairways, etc. he strongly recommended against going. So, honestly what is the condition of the course? Thx

Bill Rams Hill t Great pride in the awards we have one for course conditioning. Unfortunately this fall right after over seeding we contracted the fungus that has left a few of our fairways with thinning ryegrass. The greens tees and roughs are all…

Got a "free" round as part of a silent auction package. First, we got this in 2014, and had to way almost 2 years to use it, as the course was closed for WAY longer than expected. Called several times during the closure, and asked to get a notice when it opened... nothing. Management did extend the gift certificate, as it had expired during the closure. The course has one very redeeming quality. The greens are very soft/forgiving. Be prepared to strike about 50% harder than you do on the desert courses in San Diego to go the same distance. The rest of it... wow. Tee boxes have longer grass than the rough, even the "long" rough around the few holes where the description calls for it. Tee up or not in the box, the ball will probably be in the same place. Tee markers are small painted rocks that are hard to see in the long grass from the golf cart as you arrive, be prepared to backtrack. Fairways were cut long, and had a bunch of mown grass all over them, meaning you won't get much help and forget about chip and rolling onto the green. For distance, it's better a lot of times to miss the fairway, as there's no grass anywhere else. You'll get more roll that way. The restaurant looked fine, if you planned on staying for an hour just to eat. I like to take my food in the cart and keep playing, and they just didn't seem to get that. They had to scrounge to find cans of soda to sell me at $2.50 a pop, as the restaurant uses a fountain. The carts are fine, though they seem to have great paint jobs, and some nice amenities (built-in ball washer, removable ice-chest so you can get it filled with ice... but no GPS. Good thing I brought the watch, as there were NO yardage markers on the sprinklers in the ground that I saw. Ya, don't think I'll be back.

Appreciated that there were some heat lamps available during the evening. I will say that there was a lot of confusion randomly throughout the day that seemed to be an issue with communication. After the wedding the couple wanted to have an after party with some of the guests and had some extra food sent to the main house. I was staying in the meadow house and preparing to get ready for bed, when someone came in saying that the after party was at our house. Apparently there was no communication about not allowing food in the main house, which is understandable; however, folks staying in the house were unaware and it was frustrating to hear that the maid of honor was told to gather the food from the main house herself to the meadow house (which is a steep hike in heels, in the dark, after a long day of participating in the wedding). Thankfully the groom came with a golf cart to help her. It just seemed like pretty poor communication and lack of support, which is highly unfortunate. Adjustments could have been made in advance had folks from the wedding been notified. Guests had fun regardless and those of us who were in the wedding party really appreciated being able to stay on property. The amenities were nice (shower essentials, robes, kitchen essentials, hair dryer, steamer, etc) and we liked being able to stay in property. It provided for a lot of great photo ops. It's such a beautiful venue I'll give it 3 stars, but communication could certainly be improved.
