If 1 could put a 0 I swear I would I went to this school 2024-2025 and I hated it. For one they are extremely racist and just weird towards students of color. I'm not gonna say what teacher exactly but one of my experiences here was a particular teacher telling me how interesting I was to look at then caught a boner in the middle of talking to me and this happened many times with this teacher I've reported it but the admin claimed that I was lying he still works there to. Went here from 2012-2016 and mr Patton the government teacher is the absolute worst. If you're child makes any hint that they are Republican he will grade them so hard and fail them. He is hardcore democrat and so biased as a government teacher which is not okay. Mr Klein is the absolute best though. read more

I called to discuss a tour or options to get the experience of this high school as I went to DV when Dr. McDonald was principal. The lady at the front desk was very rude and short. She seemed very overwhelmed by her job. They stated they don't do any tours and that we would have to pay to come to a game or activity???? Lol I thought that was interesting. She transferred me to the enrollment lady and she reiterated the same thing with a condescending tone. These people are not happy doing their jobs and it was very apparent on the phone. Terrible experience, if this is their energy over the phone I can't imagine what those kids go through. This school has also had many issues with racism in recent days. Mr patton the government teacher truly sucked, have him right now and he is truly the downfall of my existence. Every day i go into his class and hear him yap about the government, while failing to make his lecture funny. With each test he gave us, there was an unfilled study guide that we had to fill out with information from a book that wasn't mandatory to read. Guess how many times that study guide was filled out. Instead of actually learning from his class, I learned from online sources instead, having to pay my own money to buy the resources from Heimler. Basically, his teachings were useless and the test he gave us asked us questions about stuff HE DIDNT YAP ABOUT, which is surprising since he yapped for the whole hour on most days. He sits in the back of class playing his stupid lord of the rings game often and does not answer questions when asked, and when he does he carries an uncaring demeanor as if he has no interest in how well his students do. Additionally, we also couldn't go to the bathroom unless we used a hall pass(a hall pass could also give us extra credit points meaning we could either pee or get a letter grade up on a test) read more

Jo A's review is right on the money The front office staff is extremely rude, the security guards will disrespect your kid at any chance they can get by telling them to shut the f*** up or by recording them on their own personal cell phone. Ever since Principal White took over the whole school has gone downhill. The entire staff acts like they hate their job and will talk to you in a condescending way as if they hate all students. There is a TON of kids doing drugs all day in the bathroom and if your kid walks anywhere near the bathroom be ready to have them accused of doing something even when they did not. Not to mention there is an underlying tone of racism at this school. Please don't send your kid here, especially if they are not white. Send them to a high school with a supportive educational environment, not one designed to tear your kid down like Desert Vista. I had some of the funnest times at DV, and I learned a lot. There were a lot of kids who definitely didn't really care that their parents paid a lot in taxes for them to attend such a nice school and today most of them complain that the school was terrible. If you went to Desert Vista, you went to a really nice school, and high school (like anything else in life) is what you make of it. If you want to be lazy you will be lazy, and if you want to take advantage of all the amenities and really live out your true potential, you will do that. I was glad to have gone to school here because no where in the state would I have had the amenities that I had at Desert Vista. I learned a lot from the good teachers and I ignored the bad teachers and just got through their class. I remember hearing what kids at other schools went through as far as high crime rates and violence on campus, and I never went through anything like that at Desert Vista. I hope that my kids will attend this high school in the future. read more

I'm going to this school this year but I've went to the summer school almost every year so I kind of know what it's like there. The teachers seem nice but the campus is dirty. Hopefully, they will clean the campus. Then I give it 5 stars. There's gum under every desk and it's disgusting. I hated always accidentally touching the gum by accident. "Graduated" in 2010. Probably the biggest waste of time I've ever had. I was heavily depressed and received absolutely no help from anyone. There was hardly anything of value that I learned during my time there. I guess the saying "school is not a place for smart people" is true because I'm now pursuing a career in a field of research contrary to the expectancy of the current principal of the school as well as numerous other faculty. Not to mention that the current principal doesn't understand mental illness as she thought that a band that I listened to at the time (she pointed this out because of my t-shirt) was the sole cause of my depression. She also told me and my parents that my attendance was required because the school was not making money since I wasn't in class half the time. Not once did she care about education or my pursuit for knowledge. So good on you for not fostering the educational potential of all your students.
