MONEY GRAB & NOT ETHICAL!!! We toured, submitted an application + $250 fee, and was told the interview was next. Received a call on a Friday from the admissions manager that they would be out on Monday when actually they were out for the week on a mission trip. I followed up and their backup had no clue about our family or what was going on. The vice principal told them to tell us we would hear from them shortly. Then we received a letter from the principal late on the Friday afternoon before Spring Break that after "prayer" they could not (would not/did not want to) meet our sons need. The letter was very condescending and came off as if the principal and staff where the only ones with a prayer life. When I followed up on what was the factual basis of their decision and why we were never afforded our interview. The principal was not forthcoming with details. My husband and I take the Blessing of being on this parenting journey as a way to honor Gods greatest gift (children). So, when I asked for feedback it was a sincere ask to see if we could better meet our sons needs. The principal NEVER addressed why we were not granted our interview or provided feedback. We did everything we were asked and paid the fee only to be refused a complete application/interview process. There are other schools with better ethical practices, honest, and truly representative of the Christian values that Jesus asks of us. If you have a daughter I highly suggest not sending them to this school. I have graduated from Valley Christian High School, and my experience there was horrible. Teachers/Staff care more about dress coding and sexualizing girls than they do about our education. I had multiple teachers (including men) tell me I need to cover up and "not let my brothers in christ sin." Mind you I was dressing to their dress code standard, but naturally have a bigger chest. The same shirt a girl with an A cup would not get told anything to. I could go on and on about all the stories that staff and teachers have done to me to make me feel extremely uncomfortable to the point I didn't want to go to class anymore. After experiencing this for 4 years it has brought nothing but shame and trauma that I still think about years after graduating. Not only did staff make me feel extremely uncomfortable, the male students were completely disrespectful towards women. The way they would talk about women and sexualize them with no shame was disgusting. I see myself as Conservative and not much of a feminist, but this school brought me so much hurt to the point where I don't plan on sending my future kids to a Christian school. I still identify as a Christian now, but this school turned me away from God for about a year after I graduated. read more

You'll find teachers who care deeply for the development of your kids, both spiritually and emotionally. They'll be challenged with the education and enjoy a really great culture that works hard to connect kids and help them build friendships. Had two kids go through. read more

Attending VCHS was the worst experience of my life. Like many Christian and conservative environments, the resounding message during my time here was that I am terrible, everything is my fault and I am solely responsible for every negative experience in my life. Mental health was not taken seriously, and in some cases not even considered real. For example, I had a teacher tell someone in my class that Christians could not possibly suffer from depression, and their mother's diagnosis of depression was either false or because she was not a believer (having a bachelor's degree in teaching does not make you a qualified psychologist). Several other teachers made comments about how every male in their class was ugly and stupid. I was bullied, made fun of, excluded, called homophobic slurs. Students told me that I was ugly, no one liked me, and that I should kill myself all while the wonderful staff turned a blind eye. This place completely obliterated me mentally and it's taken years to process all of this. They prey on suburban parents' fear of public schools by advertising a 'safe environment' and 'big school opportunities', yet the education is mediocre and there are far less extracurriculars, advanced classes, and student clubs than the local public schools. I know of many others who had similar damaging experiences here, regardless of their status or wealth. It's sad that the staff is oblivious to the problems here, and instead choose to cover them up by writing their own positive reviews as if they weren't paid to do so. My life significantly improved after my time at VCHS, and if your child is one who thinks outside the box in any way, DO NOT send them here. read more

This was a great school. Unfortunately, the administrative staff has changed. New principal and assistant principal. With that, the fundamental teachings of Christ are taught, but not practiced. Classic example, enrollment is severely down (due to recent staff change) and the focus has shifted from the student to generating revenue. I had two children graduate from this school. One child I have pulled out. My neighbor and a few other's have pulled their children out as well. The politcs of revenue generation have gotten in the way of Christ's teachings. I certainly hope and pray that the board recognizes this and makes the necessary changes. Until then, I would consider another school. read more

One of the best things that ever happened to me. I was originally forced to go to this school as a freshman in high school. I didn't want to go to a private Christian school. Then, as I went through my years at Valley I realized how great it really is. The teachers really do care about the well being of the students and how they are doing with their faith. I was not saved when I first started and I left as a believer. It is very well run and under great administration. The principal (Dan Kuiper) is a very great man that is an amazing example of what a Godly man should look like and gets involved with the student there. All my teachers I had I developed a personal relationship with and each one contributed to me as a believer in different ways. I can not thank Valley Christian enough for what they did for me as a believer and a student. read more
