We stopped by because I was curious about the mixed reviews. We weren't staying at the hotel so I hoped we'd have a positive experience. We arrived near the end of the day so we had the whole space to ourselves. This was great because we have a toddler and I love being able to explore the space and snap photos without worrying about disturbing other customers. The host was super new to town and the job. Trying to order took a long time because she'd walk away to a far away space (kitchen?) to check on each question. "Can we still order food?" Walks away. "Does the charcuterie plate have any goat or sheep cheese?" Walks away. "I'd like the x tasting and the charcuterie platter." Walks away to put in the charcuterie order (instead of pouring the first wine). I wish she could have texted someone or used a computer/tablet to communicate with the kitchen... or had an experienced person there to provide guidance/training. Eventually we got the snacks and wine. They were each... okay. The wine tasting was a bit awkward because she was reading the descriptions (for the first time??) and seemed surprised by some of the flavors/notes mentioned. I can see us visiting again if we're for some reason in town for an event and the event happens to be here, but I'd rather explore other wineries if it's just us or a group of friends exploring Prosser wine tastings. read more

WARNING: I, like many people, thought that the Desert Wind Inn would be an all inclusive event. Wine tasting and dinner in the evening, sitting around the fire in the backyard drinking a glass of merlot. Experience a wine tasting in the quiet serenity of the wine country. This is the experience that is advertised on the website and we paid handsomely for it. This dreamy experience is just that: a dreamy image of what this could be which could not be further from the truth. Instead, we were met with rude indifferent service, a room that we could not easily leave past 5 PM (or 7 PM if you're lucky to be here Friday-Saturday), a loud uncomfortable room, and poor quality wine. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU WANT A WINE COUNTRY EXPERIENCE; ONLY STAY HERE IF YOU ACTIVELY SEEK OUT DISAPPOINTMENT. What was supposed to be an incredible afternoon and evening in the wine country turned out to be a disappointment. The expectations created by the property in its advertisement plummeted the second we set foot on the property. The warm welcoming mentioned in previous recent reviews was no where to be seen when we arrived at the property on May 29, 2025 at around 12:30 PM. A cold and rather indifferent hostess meets us, no greeting, no welcoming remarks but a cold "what do you need". The hostess only expressed distain that we were checking in, giving us an annoyed glare while informing us that check-in was not allowed until 3 PM despite the hotel being seemingly empty. In the same annoyance and disdain, she told us that all information we needed should be in an email (that never arrived) and the turned her back to us and walked away. We did not expect an early check in, we just wanted to make sure that all of the information is there and whether there was more to do about it prior to us getting our room. The attitude was entirely discouraging and unwarranted and it continued to do so over the course of the next couple of hours while we waited for 3 PM. It was only when we said that the email did not arrive she begrudgingly gave us the information on a card with a random code without any explanation roughly 30 minutes after we arrived. In hindsight, that meant the room was ready, but she did not bother to tell us that fact nor inform us what the code represented. While we waited, we sat down for a glass of wine. The hostess continued to treat us like we were unwelcome guests being incredibly rude and lacked curtesy at every turn. No smiles, no small talk about the place, no indication on what to expect from our stay based on what was advertised on the website regarding the tasting and other opportunities of the sort. No wine recommendations were given nor what to expect from our choices nor any indication that she would be happy to help at all with our questions. She just coldly informed us that there are no truffle fries or soup. We proceeded to "guess" what wines would be to our liking based on previous experiences. We tried four different wines by the glass and truthfully, the wine was rather mediocre which fueled the unexpectedly unwelcoming and unpleasant experience. Bad wine and bad attitude just don't mix well together for a great experience. This was topped up by a very slow service (45 minutes with nobody else in the restaurant) for a Caesar salad and warm bread with butter. Once 3 PM rolled around, we were not shown or told where to go, instead we were left to figure it out which was difficult as the place is big. We finally found our way to our room where we were met with the startling insight that the rest of the property closes at 5PM (or 7 PM Friday- Saturday) no dinner service, no bar service, no access to the back patio. All nicely taped to the door. This made it sound like we were practically only allowed to be in our room after 5 PM (or 7 PM Friday-Saturday) with no control of the thermostat and a massive highway outside, polluting the room with unpleasant smells of gasoline and constant car noise. This "curfew" made us feel hostages in our own room. After 5 PM and before 11 AM, all you have available for "leisure" is the hallway with all the rooms and the side door. No staff around, nothing. Just a hallway and a side door. The all-inclusive feel is cut short by the lack of a breakfast option or any other hospitality services. In order to get dinner, miles down the road (goodbye wine tasting experience elsewhere - the place is not walkable, so one must drive there), we had to exit through a back door, down a metal staircase, that leads you behind the dumpsters and makes you feel like a criminal. Overall this experience was not at all what was advertised by the property. This was an extremely expensive room with worse service than a comfort inn. I felt like I was living an episode of Gordon Ramsey's Hotel Hell. I cannot recommend at all that anyone spends this kind of money for this experience. 1/10 would actively avoid this and everyone should. read more

A spontaneous drive through the east side and the wind led us here. Though visible and right off the freeway, the price point does not see the traffic like the clustered tasting rooms do, which makes it a more tranquil experience without the tourist breeze. Inside is delightfully spacious! Chambered ceilings with walls of barrels for a vintage feel, plenty of room for everyone, tables to accommodate any group. The decor 'pairs' well with the fun flights to make DW a pleasurable tasting experience. Our service was friendly and courteous, respectful to have us enjoy our reservation at our pace. Overall menu a bit steep... perhaps more than a bit steep. A vineyard destination set apart from the others, this venue is a beautiful setting for a relaxing afternoon. read more

I don't usually review hotels but this is such a cute and unique hotel that I thought it would be nice to review it! The hotel is very pretty and has a quite sophisticated feel. Every room has a balcony and the view is really nice. It's a very small hotel and important to mention they have no elevator. Our stay included a bottle of wine and breakfast, which is served in the bedroom and it was simple but really good! The only thing I didn't like was the bathtub/ shower. It looks nice but it is not functional at all. The curtains keep getting on the way and the shower water is all over the place with water going on all directions. Really hard to take a good shower. We booked a massage during our stay and it was very nice! But since they are very small, there was no option for couples massage. read more

My husband and I spent a delightful afternoon here for lunch! We got to spend quite a while talking to the manager, Michelle, and geeking out over the science of winemaking and other ways it applies to agriculture. The artichoke dip was amazing, loved the blackberry toasted cheese, and wine flights led us to buy a few bottles. Unfortunately I have to rate this place as a one star for poor management and customer service. My mother was a member here for years and wanted to take me to brunch. Online it says no reservations and after checking out the Mother's Day brunch event there's nothing to sign up and when she called they said just show up. We got here and there was a sign out front saying reservations only, and when we said it's on the website the hostess was rude and said no it does. I've included a screenshot from their website showing that's not the case Then my mom asked to just be able to take her wine shipment home and they said no. The dining area wasn't empty and I did snoop at the wait list and they could have sat us. I'm just appalled that they would treat her like that on a holiday, lie about their website saying they require reservations, and then tried to keep the wine she ALREADY paid for. I highly recommend anyone considering a membership here to not do it. We were able to get the wine but the manager said she'd help my mother then walked away and never came back. The Sacajawea Room (Airbnb-style inn) is beautiful! See the photos. However the room was not air conditioned even though advertised as such, and thermostat controls do not allow for adjustment. I called the management for help. Maybe they are able to adjust the controls? No one returned my voicemail. -Not ever. I double checked and triple checked the phone number. The temp (in July) climbed to 85 degrees inside our room. The fan we found in the closet wasn't much for relief. As we were leaving the next day, I asked winery staff if they knew who was in charge of the inn. They said "Destiny" was there in her office all morning. Delicious food, good wine, great service! We stopped for lunch on our way home from Boise and ended up staying the night. The room was spacious and they have thought of everything! Glassware and wine key in room, TV with streaming services, gas fireplace, Kuerig with real mugs (not paper), robes, very comfortable bed, soft towels (& many of them), small shampoo/conditioner/bar soap, body wash, and lotion, ice & microwave available for use in the hall. A FULL complimentary glass of wine at check in, red or white bottle of wine waiting in your room (also complimentary), breakfast delivered to your room in the morning (included with stay), and we watched the beautiful sunset from our balcony. Very disappointed. We had been here a year ago for the Prosser wine fest and had a wonderful time so we were looking forward to a similar experience. Unfortunately we got here and had a rude waitress. She didn't want to acknowledge the "passport" for the Drink Prosser veterans weekend event. So we weren't "allowed " a wine tasting. She left and came back and said did you guys want anything like just because she wouldn't give us a wine tasting we didn't want anything else. We ordered two glasses of wine and two flatbread orders. She slapped two glasses of wine on our table and some napkins without a word. Later she brought one order of flatbread and we looked confused because she took our other order to another table and they looked confused. So ok we thought maybe she was bringing the other order separately, no. Asked for our check and only one flatbread was billed so fine but then when it was tip time all of a sudden she could talk to us and be somewhat friendly. I don't think we've ever been treated so rudely by any waitstaff ever. With 18 wineries participating in the weekend event we won't be wasting our time and money at this place again. Stayed for one night in the Jean Baptiste Suite which was huge and had a great balcony overlooking the water. We arrived at 4pm on Friday and did the wine tasting which was free with the stay. They were very knowledgeable and had great descriptions for the wine which we liked. The bed was super comfortable and had a fireplace in the room as well. We woke up to breakfast in bed which was amazing. The Mixed Berry Charlotte is too die for. They have a huge selection of truffles as well. It was a very relaxing stay. The only thing is you need to walk up stairs to the room but that wasn't a problem for us. Would definitely recommend this place! read more

The menu rivaled any I've had in Seattle and when I first looked at it, I was sure it would be a case of ambitious overreach on the chef's part. Wow, was I wrong. Great place to stop in Prosser. This gem is right off the highway, they have a very nice wine tasting area, restaurant and cute little shop with olive oil, chocolates, spices etc.. The hostess and servers were very welcoming. I had a lunch which was one of the best on my whole trip to Eastern Washington. I had the BBQ babyback ribs which were so good. Tasted like slow smoked for hours and then just finished up with the right amount of sauce served smoking hot. So meaty and tender, 8 nice big ribs. They came with a nice apple slaw and great fritters. I also had the chef select salad with grilled romaine which went with the ribs so well. They let us do a wine tasting flight while we were eating and their dry reds are really excellent. I had so much food with the half rack of ribs that I had plenty to take with, but I had to try their berry creme brulee which was absolutely amazing.. it had big chunks of cherries in it. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. This winery could care less about their customers. We attended a cooking class there today, which was fun, and spent over $400 on the class. Was going to purchase another $300 in wine because I had a gift card from a birthday a few years ago. The winery refused to honor the gift card, a blatant violation of State Law by the way, and basically told me Togo to hell. I will never visit this winery again. I am a member at over a dozen wineries in Washington State and have never been treated so rudely. And oh by the way, their wine is mediocre at best. Took a few friends here for my friends birthday. I was the driver and didn't wine taste but my group loved the wine and they all bought some. They offered me complimentary tea coffee pop whatever for being the driver. They were very friendly and attentive and the inside was so beautiful and cozy, we sat in the little living room area by the fire place. She took pictures of our group and took the time to make sure we posed correctly. They even sat and explained how to make some of their decore that we were admiring. They picked up all of our dishes without much notice they also were dressed up in the same theme (Hawaiian). Less then two weeks away from going over the mountains and visiting Prosser and I can say I've already had a bad experience with Desert Wind's accommodations. My wife and I booked our room with them a few months ago for one night on July, 9th. At the time two of the four rooms were available to choose from. We added a vineyard tour to our reservations and started to get very excited. Then yesterday, less than two weeks before we were to check in, they called and told us they had double booked us, and that we no longer had a room to stay in. When asked how did this happen, and why did they wait until only a few days before our trip to tell us this, they simply passed the blame on to the girl who originally took our reservation, then assured us she was since fired. I'm no position to say if that girl deserved to be fired or not. What I do know is that her being fired doesn't do diddly squat for helping me. I don't care which employee f'd up, as the employer YOU need to take responsibility. You are the one who hired the person, you are the one who is still there and needs to worry about treating customers (past, current, and future) right. If the rooms are booked, and if they were all truly booked before we made our reservation, I don't expect somebody else to get booted out of their room just to appease me. But for crying out loud, when I ask for a suggestion or help, don't simply tell me to call the Best Western. That's like me showing up to The Metropolitan Grill for my 8pm reservation and having the maître tell me they don't have a table for me and I should just go to Applebee's. We've been to Desert Wind a couple of times before, but only for special passport events. This was the first time we checked it out on a random weekend. Wine-tasting was complimentary! We expected a tasting fee, so that was a pleasant bonus. Desert Wind is hard to miss from the freeway with the grand southwestern architecture. The tasting room/gift shop is enormous and I believe the adjoining dining area presents cooking demonstrations from time to time. There were 6 wines on the tasting notes, but we were also offered a Viognier, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon which weren't on the list. So we had 9 tastings, complimentary, and all were delicious. The Ruah blend is pretty well-known (I buy it at my local Metropolitan Market often)...a terrific blend of Cab Sauv/Merlot/Cab Franc. I have ordered wine online from Desert Wind numerous times and had it shipped to my home back east. And always without problems or incident. Except this time. I ordered a wine shipment on December 1, 2021 as an intended Christmas gift for my wife to commemorate our visit to Desert Wind in 2019. I received an acknowledgment of order, but no shipping confirmation or delivery date. I emailed them at their customer service address several times with no response. I finally called. So far, I have spoken to 4 different individuals, and each assured me that they would personally handle getting the order shipped. We did a passport weekend for Catch the Crush and decided to book a special harvest dinner here on Saturday night. From the social get acquainted time before we were seated, through to the dessert, it was first class. We were treated to a number of wines and a course to fit each one. Several of the foods were memorable, especially the salmon appetizer during happy hour, the squash soup that was like none we had ever tried, and the chocolate cheesecake at the end. I would have given five stars but the ribeye steak was overdone bayside from that, which they apologized for, it was really wonderful. The PR here is amazing. Highly recommend the winery. We had our wedding reception at the winery and stayed at the Inn. We could not have more impressed or happier with our choice. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and efficient. The room was a mini Oasis with comfortable fireplace and amazing linens that begged to just stay. Everyone was friendly and more than accommodating! We did the late check in and arrived to a lovely room with the fireplace burning and a glass of champagne chilled to celebrate my husbands birthday. We stayed in the Sacajawea room which was beyond words amazing with its fire place, large room and bathroom, and jetted tub. The complimentary in room breakfast was the cherry on top. I buy Desert Wind wine in the grocery store on occassion and I didn't really know much about them before hand so I really wanted to stop in and see their tasting room when I found out they were located in Prosser. They have a HUGE facility with a nice little wine shop and tasting room plus their restaurant in there as well. I actually checked in and gave the Yelp deal to my grandpa and then I bought the Deal on their profile page and got a bottle of the Ruah. The wines that we tried were really affordable but they didn't offer a lot of variety, 2 whites and 4 reds to try. Most of the reds I wanted to try werent on their tasting menu, you had to be a club member to try them which I think is a bummer. My grandpa really liked their Viognier which he said that he typically doesn't care for that varietal. I thought it was very delicious as well but have a bottle at home already that needs to be consumed. We didn't eat at the restaurant this time but maybe next time we are in the area. read more

We we're greeted warmly the second we entered their doors! Super friendly ladies made our experience the best. Wines we're very good! Lovely little cheese plates and beer for those who are not into wine. Outside sitting area was nice place to eat a desert from the chocolate stand inside. The owner of that was very nice too. Ok, I feel I need to share my experience at the Desert Wind winery and guest rooms. We drove to Prosser, having never been there, to explore wineries and the town. By 2pm we were feeling really let down. Wineries were boring, people were not very nice, our lunch choice was proving to be a horrible mistake. We had made a reservation for an overnight stay at Desert Wind. we had stopped by the winery early to see if there was any way we could check in early, to escape our miserable afternoon. We needed and oasis. That is exactly what we found at Desert Wind. Our room was not ready, but the guys at the tasting bar (and front desk) could see we had a challenging day and were quick with a glass of free wine and suggested we wait on the patio, which was really nice. They kept the wine flowing and were quick to find us when the room was ready. Room.... Awesome. Dinner at the winery.... Great. Staff is very friendly, the property is tasteful and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. read more
