Awful. Store closing time is 5:00 P.M. I arrive to the gate at 4:56. Owner hears me rattling around says "can I help you?" I say, yes, do you have basil plants? He responds "yes, but we're closed." I say it's not 5:00. He says, "we closed early." I say, can't you sell me some plants? He says "tomorrow morning." Yeah, no. Not coming back tomorrow morning, or ever. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. They were scheduled to plant my entire yard. I called the owner up & told her I was sick could I come & pick my plants another day. She freaked out on me & was screaming at me she was sick of peoples excuses. The next day I called her & said I could come in & she informed me that she canceled my project! Now I need to find another company very late in the season & I won't be planted by summer. Very unprofessional. Very rude. Stay away. read more

I can see why others have left less than stellar reviews because the owner is sometimes on edge ... but having said that... he is always nice to me and their products are second to none. I come here every year for my gardening needs (4th year) the veg and fruit plants are really second to none , yes more expensive but also amazing quality comparable to others. read more

What an attitude from owner... None of the flower plants had prices on them, none of his spanish speaking staff had answers. Firewood here for post-Sandy heat! Great little nursery, which I am sure has more growables in season, but at the moment all I cared about was the firewood I saw stacked outside. Quite urgent when one's home has no heat or hot water. Decent prices, not trying to rip anyone off, and placed directly into the trunk of my car without me even having to ask for it. I'll be back, as good customer service is all too rare. read more

If there were 1/2 a star I would opt for that to give this desetta nursery. I don't know if the 2 men there were the managers or the owners, but they both were the RUDEST people when we were there. I can't imagine that an owner would actively look to be unhelpful as they were as that would be bad business practice. Seema G. & GeneK. got it on point!!! Simple questions about their products were either met with curt answers, stares after having to repeat questions, muted answers(none). Always had great quality products but he seems to be quite expensive. I understand that he has high overhead, but you can get the same quality at cheaper prices if you shop around. Also both the owner and his wife could use an attitude adjustment. I guess they know they're the only game in town. read more

I have been a customer here for 20 years The owner Dave has always been a nasty man but never too nasty to me..His wife was always nice except for last week when I was there...My husband likes to give the locals business but this "local" will never get my business again...He and his wife were nasty and rude to me...They lost a customer and if you are planning to go to this expensive nursery I would advise a happier nicer place to purchase your gardening needs read more

Rating should be a 0. I walked in with my family and the worker(owner) was at the entrance he did not say hello or can I help you. We walked around and he walked inside and sat at the desk. Horrible customer service should not be in business. read more

Horribly nasty! Anyone who picks up the phone with a curt, hello! And then hangs up the phone after answering my question will not get my business. I went here a few times over the years because they do carry a huge selection but they always seem like their customers are a bother to them. Never again and I don't just buy flowers for my beds, I buy trees. They must cater to the folks in Hewlett Harbor so they don't really care about the customers who actually walk into their store. I'll give my business to another mom and pop nursery who appreciate their customers. They need a reality check! read more

I have been going to Desetta consistently for over five years. I have purchased annuals, trees, bushes such as Winterberry and Southern Gentleman etc. The quality of their greens are some of the best, the knowledge of the owner is bar none. Yes he is a little brusque but he's really a nice guy. I will continue to go to Desetta especially for trees. read more
