I can't say enough great things about Morgen and my experience with her. I had a couple of professional photos taken over the years but after receiving a life altering diagnosis, I really wanted something special that included our adult children and granddaughters. I highly recommend and cannot say anything but great things about Morgen! We decided to purchase her Bundle of Joy Package (includes both Maternity and Newborn photos). I loved that she wanted to know mine and my husband story of how we met, and more about our lives together. We talked about what I envisioned and also her style of photography. She was very flexible as I had to reschedule and also she was very attentive to the weather as it surprised me she reached out as our scheduled day it was suppose to rain and be gloomy (we were doing a sunrise shoot) and gave me the option to reschedule. When Morgen reached out to me asking if I would do a shoot with her she has wanted to make come to life for a long time, I was hesitant. I did a family session with Morgen last year so my hesitation was not due to her lack of talent. I know how incredible she is and I know her beach sessions always look like they came straight off a page of a magazine. My hesitation came from a place of insecurity. You see, when she asked, she asked me by sending a picture of a wardrobe she had put together that was beach casual - shorts, tanks, and swim suits, AND the shoot was only 5 days away. GULP. Everything about this shoot was out of my comfort zone. 1. I hate myself in shorts. 2. I am extremely self conscious in a swimsuit. I feel awkward when there aren't lasting memories of it and now I am going to put one on for photos that will be forever documented -Egads. 3. Never in a million years did I imagine doing a family session in extremely casual clothes. I usually plan for these thigs for a month to try and look as put together as possible, not like we've spent a day at the beach - which we in fact did before these pictures. 4. I do not love the water. I love to look the water from a far but water and I are not friends. I do not like to get into water and I absolutely hate water in my face. Despite my hesitation, I agreed. You see, I know Morgen's work is great and I thought "why not". The worst that could happen would be I would hate them. Let me tell you, that did NOT happen. Not only did I not hate them, I absolutely loved them. Morgen is nothing short of a magician. Her talent speaks for itself in these photos. She took a family that spent the day at the beach, only to run home for less than hour to freshen up and change real quick, and made us look like we prepared for this shoot in great detail. My insecurities are decades deep but once we got on that beach with her, they all disappeared. Morgen makes you feel home. She makes you feel calm. She makes things fun and makes all of those feelings wash away just as the ocean waves crash on the shore. When I received the gallery of our photos, my jaw dropped. I know she is good at what she does and the beach is her happy place - it is where she really shines. But WOW. How did she turn that evening, and that casual of a wardrobe and setting into something that good??? Every image tells a story, a story of us. A story of our little family. Many are breathtaking and magical. Some made me cringe when I first saw them because of the ridiculous faces I make. But as time passed, I thought to myself, these are the pictures my boys will remember and smile biggest from when I am gone. These are the pictures that (unfortunately) express who I really am - goofy, free spirited, not a huge fan of water touching me, and an awful dancer who doesn't care and still continues to dance no matter how bad it is. These are the pictures that will make them say "THAT is my mom". Every bit of our family shines through in these pictures. The silly. The love. The fun. I can easily say this is my favorite family session. It was unlike anything I know and apparently that's what was needed. I guess just being you turns out to be the best thing. If you are hesitant to do family pictures because of insecurities, be like Elsa and let it go. Do them. Trust me. Trust Morgen's talent and make memories for you, your family, and your friends. I originally found Morgen on Facebook through a mutual friend when she first started Designed in Love. We booked a session for fall family pictures and didn't really know what to expect considering we had never met prior to the shoot. Morgen was so sweet and instantly made us feel comfortable and like we were long time friends!
