So after lunch, I drive on over to check the Shop out. It is a Design Shop without the snobbery or gaudiness. The Shop is a design and retail shop selling furniture, home decor, lighting fixtures, kitchenware, tableware, pottery, and glass ware. Beautiful items giving off California cool vibes of rustic coastal, muted minimalistic Scandinavian, and contemporary bohemian. But get this, the prices were not crazy high. The furniture and merchandise are gorgeously staged. The pieces are beautiful curated pieces. Framed commercial art print work prints and paintings ranged from $20-$120. They had an elm wood desk with interior veneer drawers for $525. That piece caught my eye, but I don't need a desk. It was a beautiful piece though and a great price for the quality. But an odd thing is that in the same area they sell functional furniture, they have furniture that are deemed decorative. For instance, they had a pair of wooden chairs for purchase. I sat down to see how it would feel. They were wobbly. When I got up, I noticed a small handwritten sign on the chair stating they were decorative and not to be used. Hmm. Just be aware of decorative vs functional pieces. The majority of staff are outgoing, welcoming, and super helpful. They also offer interior design services. The Yellow Chair!  They met us in our home and listened carefully to what we both wanted. I need to state this now; my husband and I were at each others throats when it came to our remodeling ideas, but Kallie, with her genius insight and impeccable design skill led us to a design plan we have fallen in LOVE with. Kallie and Mike took the care to make sure our kitchen and fish tank design blended seamlessly; and that is no small task! Kallie took all our favorite colors and incorporated them seamlessly into our kitchen, and made our 250 gallon salt water tank blend into our home like it was always there. Mike and his crew built our dream kitchen with incredible craftsmanship and care. During our first phase we did both bathrooms and our kitchen. My wife and I were impressed with how quickly Rebecca learned our tastes and when we decided to do the second phase, which included all new furniture, everything that Rebecca picked out was perfect-the first time. We really appreciated that Rebecca worked hard to make sure that our home looked awesome but reflected our style, not what she thought our style should be. We had a couple of furniture pieces that were passed down from my mother and grandmother that we wanted to keep. The style did not fit with our new space but Rebecca had them refinished with a more modern look that worked perfectly with our new furniture. We have been continually amazed at the Rebecca Ward Design team's ability to design spaces that we absolutely love. We bought our home in 1998 and raised both of our boys in this home and our original design was definitely utilitarian. We told Rebecca that we were ready for a "grownups" home and what she designed is both beautiful and super cozy. Rebecca Ward and her assistant Leah did an amazing job on three rooms in my home. It's a small…read morehouse with all 3 rooms open to each other so decorating seemed impossible to me, but not to them. They took a dark home and brightened it up just as I asked. They listened to my needs and were amazing at giving me different choices and at times making changes to the plan to suit my taste. I was astonished at how Rebecca was able to integrate my great Grandmother's Asian table into the scheme as it has tremendous sentimental value to me. They asked what my budget was and they stayed within that budget. Everyone who walks into my home now are truly amazed and shocked at the transformation. Both of these designers are professional but personable too. I truly miss seeing their smiling faces once the process was finished. I would say that staging day was my favorite as they come in with all kinds of accessories that bring each room to life. I would not hesitate to hire them for another project.
