Random vending machines that don't work. TV was small. Pool had bits of dirt in it. Mostly empty. Clothes outside. The pool had locks but the employee in the lobby said it was open turned out ONE SINGULAR GATE WAS UNLOCKED. doors were hard to open. Pool also had bits of its tiling coming off. The only good thing was the free wifi.

First, there are 8.5x11" signs on every exit stating not to take alcohol beyond that point. Tacky, for sure. Makes you wonder what issues brought on that overkill. The worst thing was the breakfast. A voucher is required. Some poor lady asked if it was required every time she came down. Apparently (as she attempted to explain) her custom is to come down and get a small bite while her husband is getting ready. Then, later, they come down together. The breakfast attendant didn't allow that. She then proceeded to harass every other person for their voucher. Just strange. They must have a bunch of people come off the street for the "free" breakfast or something. Having said all that, the room was clean and the people were nice. I even checked for bugs after looking at the other review. I didn't see anything, but the mattresses aren't wrapped like some hotels have done. I guess It can all be summed up by saying that this isn't the experience I'm used to at Hampton Inn.

We went to use Amex Hilton free night benefits and they were kind enough to up-grade us to the side of the facility with the better views and a balcony. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The pool an hot tub looked really inviting, but it was just a little too cold for me to take the dip (I regret that decision now btw). Be sure to call ahead to ask about the amenities. For example, the hotel has its own six-hole course that I think you can play for free. Had I known, I'd of brought my clubs an booked a t-time. My wife went to the spa and said it was great.

The staff is top notch and the rooms are well appointed. We had a room on the Terrace level where we could walk right out to the heated pool and hot tub (which we skipped, but it looked amazing)! It's very dog-friendly with walking and hiking trails, stunning golf course, fire pits, games, and other amenities, for just about any visitor. The only thing that missed the mark was the food service and quality. We went to Croft, but I expect the food quality is similar at both onsite restaurants.). Otherwise, it's a magical spot to spend any long weekend or holiday.

Someone on the hotel staff had the ingenious stroke of inspiration to prop my hotel door open. Let me reiterate. After "cleaning", my room door had been propped open. Keep in mind, this door is the single barrier keeping anyone (Econolodge guest or not) from simply walking in to my room. Not only was this extremely annoying, this issue in my mind is a complete safety concern/issue. (Not to mention the insets, mosquitoes, and flies with whom I now had to share my room.) When I checked in, there were also large puddles of water standing in the room. From the doorway to the center of the room. (And on the bizarre, the peep hole in my door had been stuffed with paper tissues. Not an issue that effected my stay, but an extremely random detail). I alerted the front desk to these issues immediately upon check in. Their response to the propped door and water was "Is your room clean? Then you have nothing to worry about. Sometimes the cleaning staff does that". I understand this isn't the Four Seasons, but a working air conditioner would also have been appreciated since my room had be thoroughly "aired out". (In the summer, in Alabama, you can imagine it's rather warm outdoors.) A warmth my room never recovered from during the remainder of my stay. From blood on the sheets, to hair in the restroom, to a bed that felt positively like sleeping on bamboo, I wouldn't want a repeat of this experience nor would I recommend a friend stay here. I understand everyone has bad days, but unfortunately this will be a lasting impression.

Every staff member we have come across has been friendly and kind. Our room was great and looked updated. The linens were in the room already for the pullout bed (9/10 when we have had a pullout we have had to go to the desk and pick them up at other hotels) We love the amenities. The shower has shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower. Our room has a fridge and coffee maker. The pool area was nice. There is even a grill outside. Breakfast was decent with a mix of hot items, and cereal, muffins, boiled eggs, fruit, grits and oatmeal packets and hot water, juice, and coffee. The Coke machines in the hotel only take cash or change. Not a complaint just an FYI if you need a caffeine fix other than coffee and rarely carry cash. We would totally stay here again. Our king size bed was comfy and came with 5 pillows.

The GM, Michelle Venable, has ZERO place in a customer service industry. Awful!
