My review is specifically for the restaurant because I didn't see a way to check in there only. My wife and I went here for a company Christmas party. We had the restaurant to ourselves. It's very remote, but worth the drive. The restaurant is built and decorated in a lodge style. We had a table directly in front of the fireplace. Our server was excellent. She knew the menu well, memorized everyone's order, and checked on us continually throughout the meal. They had a very good (and pricey) wine list. I had a Riesling, but it was ordered for us, so I don't know the specifics. The menu is a bit limited. I started with a Hal Caesar salad. It was just the right amount of salad and dressing, and was very good. For dinner, I wanted the scallops, but not with caviar that it comes with. I would have liked the trout, but it's not Rainbow or other white flaky varieties. It's Steelhead, which pink and dense like salmon, so I settled on the paradelle with wild boar ragu. It was tasty in a brown, but spicy, sauce. The meat was tender, and the noodles were excellent. They tasted homemade. We finished by sharing their desserts. Husband and I went for a mountain golf weekend. The golf here was amazing! Golf staff and course were great. The resort itself was beautiful and well maintained. It markets itself as a "high end" luxury resort. It fell short in the food and concierge services. It is very secluded on a mountain top. They had several restaurants, spread out between the golf club house and resort lodge areas. It was like pulling teeth to get information on the dining options. A resort map with explanation of each venue would have fixed the issue, but none available. The wait staff were clueless about menu items and wines. I asked for a "buttery" Chardonnay and the waitress replied: "she don't drink no more, but never tried these when she did, so she don't know." Never occurred to her to ask the bar tender. She was sweet and innocent and not her fault. This place needs to train their staff to provide the service they advertise so the service meets the cost to stay and dine there. The food portions were ridiculously skimpy, although very pricey. Something was just really off about this place. read more

Really GREAT VIEWS. But the place isn't ready for the big time yet. They better get it under control or they probably won't make it. You know it's weird from the first time you try to reach out to get a tee time/group together. Can't just call the Pro Shop. Ridiculous. Restaurant opens at 8am for breakfast (after first tee times) so impossible to even get breakfast. No washer/dryer in the cabin. Golf was just okay, nothing special. Course not even grown in yet, sod and sand and GUR everywhere! Caddies are not knowledgeable or needed. You have to walk before 10am. Sloooow greens. Disappointed. Priced like Streamsong, Pinehurst, Bandon and the experience is more like your local muni. Facilities are nice but courses are not great. The Keep has no grass and takes 5 hours to get around. The other course is gimmick golf and took 6 + hours. No rangers to speak things up. Staff are either quite nice or absolutely checked out. Service and communication are terrible. One guy in the group bought a shirt, realized it was the wrong size and refused to let him exchange. Take your money elsewhere. Any positive review must simply not know what else is available in the marketplace. read more

I bought a lot in McLemore and was excited about building a second home at some point in the future. Thirty days after closing, they told me I owed over $50,000 for golf membership, HOAs, and water/sewer (yes, for an empty lot). When I said I did not yet want a membership, they threatened to sue me and said they are going to add all their fees plus interest and to foreclose on my property, and they barred me from reselling it. AVOID BUYING IN MCLEMORE. it is a scam. read more

Disappointed on almost every dimension--course and service. Not the top tier product they position themselves to be. 1) The course was not in good shape. It's well into Spring yet it resembled a muni's condition. Barren tees. Tons of barren and/or wet spots in the fairways. Basically unkempt and weedy (beyond any legit attempt for natural looking waste areas). Greens were okay, but slow. 2) Took 5:35 hours to play. Lots of waiting. 3) Staff was polite, but not welcoming. Almost as if they were doing us a favor in letting us play. 4) Substandard locker room for a course with its supposed reputation. 5) Coolers on the golf carts had no ice. Water bottles sitting in about 3 inches of water. 6) Beverage/snack cart had no ice, only one brand of beer left and no diet Cokes. It was approx 2:30pm. Attendant didn't seem think anything was awry--just matter of fact. 7) Halfway house soft drink refrigeration was not working. They did have ice however. 8) I have a damaged knee (surgery scheduled) and asked if an exception might be made to the cartpath only rule that day.. Was told in pro shop and separately at the first tee that they would connect with the head pro and seek reprogramming my cart for holes where appropriate. Never heard anything or saw any evidence of reprogramming on my cart screen (as the first tee starter told me look for). Not even the courtesy of a response. Given the mountain topography, it was very painful for me. There were a couple holes I simply could not play. All of the above for a $200 green fee. Know that's less than Pebble, Ocean Course, etc., but still expensive--especially compared to the total experience provided.. Will not return. read more

Manage your expectations here...and by that I mean, lower them...considerably. As a group that travels North America on golf trips, we have an established baseline from Bandon Dunes, to Pinehurst. Not a single member of our group of 16 was prepared to return here. Disappointed, given the phenomenal views and the untapped potential the overall property has. Lowlights: -broken toilet paper holder and towel rack in guest room of cottage. -actual rain shower head would not engage in shower. -no cleaning service for entire stay, and even after asking for more coffee to be restocked, nothing showed up. - property refused to provide shuttle service from our rented accommodation on property to the hotel lobby for dinner reservations. - took more than 45 minutes to get the dinner check after meal (8 ppl), and repeatedly asking. -both golf courses were in very poor condition and played at more than 5hr 30 minutes each round. (No effective marshaling to improve pace). -Caddies (on The Keep) were hit and miss. Many with little, to no previous experience- or don't even golf themselves. Made for a less than desirable experience for a property trying to command share at an elevated level. -be prepared to pay premium prices, and still be nickel and dimed. I was charged a $3 upcharge for the olives that garnished my $21 martini (not kidding). There's a first for everything!! LOL Day of departure, a Monday, the clubhouse doesn't even have the capacity to offer coffee, or breakfast (until 11a). This is a golf resort with tee times starting at dawn, but I think the point is made. PRO's: -the 6 hole short course and range a both included and can be used at your convenience. I'm sure the remote location makes staffing difficult, but properties like Bandon have figured it out and offer a world class experience - with the details polished. Give this place a couple years to iron things out, or elevate their leadership, before you take the chance. There are too many great options at this price point to have this kind of experience. read more

McLemore is my favorite golf experience in the world. It is far from anything so the drive is longer than I'd like, but I guess the infrequency that I get to enjoy it is what makes it so much more special. I joined the Friends of McLemore program when it those folks were only allowed to play once per year. Now it is opened up to play 4x per year, more specifically once per season. When pulling into the gate, you're welcomed by the view of new homes en route to the clubhouse. The pro shop is fitted with the nicest apparel and knickknacks. The men's locker room and bathroom are impeccable. When I visited last year during covid, the restaurant was not open. The driving range when I visited was not quite finished and I found myself hitting balls into a field. Playing by myself on a day with very few people, I made my way to the first tee and flushed one right down the middle. Off to a good start. When I made my way to the first green, I was absolutely blown away by the view. Knowing that the 18th green was the crown jewel, I was surprised how great the views already were. The rest of the course played beautifully. There are many hard/blind shots as a first time player without a member to ask advice from. Next time I go, I'll have the Arccos system all loaded up. There was a halfway house with food and drinks. The 18th was indeed a beauty. I stopped to take a lot of photos. Gorgeous. When I was finished I made my way back to the club house and I saw two C130s swoop down into the valley which was an incredible cap to the day. I bought a hat and headed back towards Atlanta. I'm headed back to play with my dad next week and can't wait to share the experience with him! read more

By anyone's standards, this should be a bucket list course. The location is certainly remote and almost a 2 hour jaunt from my Atlanta suburbs home. It was well worth the expedition however. They don't make it particularly easy to book a tee time at McLemore, but these can be had by joining their Friends of McLemore Facebook group, The clubhouse is certainly of high quality. It is of modest size, but the finishes inside are of the highest quality. You certainly feel like you are in a very luxurious location from the moment you enter their facility. The pro shop and restaurant staff were extremely friendly and the sandwich lunch we had was generously proportioned and of high quality. The real star of the McLemore Show however, is the golf course itself. The layout is excellent and takes full advantage of the incredible vistas on offer from what is essentially the side of a mountain. The 18th hole has received rave reviews by the golf press, but there are plenty of other holes demonstrating absolutely stunning beauty. There are perhaps three or four holes on the back nine which are what could best be described as ordinary. Which is to say they are not up to the same standard of beauty as the rest of the course - nothing wrong with them in particular if they were on a different course, just not up to the stunning standards as the others on this particular course. Make no mistake, this is a special place to play golf. It is far from cheap however. We paid the tidy sum of $150/person which supposedly was the discounted midweek rate. Their tee sheet was full however, which lends support to the argument that, although very high for the region in general, the cost represents fair market value for the experience. I support this view entirely and would in fact go so far as to say that if somehow you could miraculously take this same course, place it in a more densely populated area and host a PGA tour event there (it would be well up to their standard requirements for an event), a rate closer to $450 would meet with equal customer numbers. If you lucky enough to have this sort of cash available to spend on a special golf experience, go for it. You won't be disappointed! read more

terrible. quit on 13. so slow. woulda been a 5.30 hour round. cart screen kept saying someone would come out to warn slow players. no one ever came. no cart kids anywhere with drinks/water. no golf marshal or employees anywhere to be found on course. not a 5 star golf experience at all. views were great but there's other places with great views where the golf is prioritized. told the pro shop guy why we quit and he said we should've called the pro shop. No, for $250 you should be out there or come like the screen said would happen. read more

The golf course was good. The food and beverage were pretty good. The problem came in with the service. It was definitely not tailored to those interested in golf or high quality service experiences. We were then especially disappointed by the villa we rented and the incredibly rude and inconsiderate property owner next to the place we stayed who was obviously only worried about himself and not the resort and property overall. We were here to have a good time and fun with guys playing golf. He complained constantly and did everything he could to mess that up and the resort/security allowed it to happen. So we will not be back. We were really interested in spending more time here and liked the course itself, but the other factors really turned us off. read more

Played here in April as part of the friends of McLemore experience. Highly recommend anyone who can make it out here to give it a go. Course is in great condition and super fun to play. Clubhouse is stocked with gear and the restaurant's offerings were nice too. The food at the halfway house was incredible though. The finishing hole has view worth the drive. Facilities and amenities are stellar as well. There is a par 3 course available for play as well. With development of the new Hilton property on site the demand for golf at McLemore will probably only get greater read more

We thought we hit a home run when we booked a stay and play vacation with 3 other couples. The place is beautiful. Our house at 856 Canyon Ridge Road, off of tee box one was special. It began with golf. When we asked where the bathrooms were on the course, the Pro told us "between hole 9/10." I asked what happens if you have to go before, he said, "we have lots of trees and many leaves out there to cleanup". Besides no bathrooms, there is NO water anywhere except at the half way house. As to the house, after contacting the Property Manager Dan, about our problems, he advised he would come by, but never showed up in two days. Our problems were: the 1000 ants all over the kitchdn counter, the water leaks throughout the ceiling and walls (water actually dripping inside one bedroom closet during rain), with mold and mildew throughout the house especially on the ceiling vents. This black mold has to be a year plus old, and we could just imagine what is inside the walls. Any obvious detriment to anyone with any respiratory problems. When sitting outside, the patio furniture was worn and broken. If you sat on many of the chairs you felt you would fall through to the ground. After following up with Dan, sending pictures of the problems, he advised he would "tell the owners." It is shameful that such a beautiful location could be maintained so carelessly and uncaring when we are spending that amount of money on a rental. We can only advise to stay away, especially with the unhealthy conditions in the house. read more

Outstanding course, spectacular views, dramatic elevation changes, visually intimidating, local knowledge would be helpful and an incredible value! If in the area, a must play, do not pass it up! The front 9 reminds be one Colorado Mountain courses with remarkable elevation changes. The back 9 is nice but not as dramatic. read more

Must play for the area, course is on top of the mountain. Played from the blue tees, a good challenge. Course knowledge is required to shoot well so get the course booklet at the pro shop. Driving range available. Spend some time on the putting green to get feel for the speed. If you make it through without a three putt you must be a pro. Greens were excellent in the winter and most holes have tiered levels. The ninth hole does not go back to the shop, but there is a place to buy drinks and food. Some of the best barbecue I have ever had. Would go back to play just to eat the barbecue. Course does not appear to get a lot of play. Last bit of advice, stay below the hole on #2, otherwise take your three putt and be happy. read more

This course is very challenging and perfectly beautiful. I enjoyed every minute of being there. The hole with all the switchbacks that had what seemed like a mile of cart path, seemed like one you would see in Golf Magazine. It was spectacular! It was also very affordable!! read more

Now here is a course that requires every club in the bag. Challenging yet fair, expect to be tested with blind shots, forced carries and undulating greens. Elevation changes add a fresh perspective to club selection and the yardage markers are accurate. read more
