Made a quick stop here today .. If you really think TH donuts are fresh ... Think again !!! This donut shop is not franchise . It's a family run business and honestly worth every penny. Baked on site !! Can't get fresher than that. Ok.. so the prices are a bit high .$3.80 for one ! But these donuts are big.. and I mean ..BIG ! There's no plain donuts here .. these are all flavored . Destination Doughnuts has been on my wish-list to try for a long time, mostly based on the excellent reviews of my fellow Yelpers. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the doughnuts here. As many other reviews commented, they are not super sweet, which made me feel like a little bit of the flavor was missing. The cro-nut doughnut especially was just too buttery tasting. When I indulge in a doughnut I want a sugary treat, and the low-sweetness missed the mark for me. I also found that these went stale so quickly. My usual doughnut shop order is a half dozen to share with my husband, which we usually eat over a couple of days. Obviously any baked good is best fresh, but in less than a day, all the toppings and glazes were dried and falling off and the doughnuts got dry and tough. If I were to return I would only get what I wanted to eat fresh at that moment. I'm glad we gave this shop a try but I'll stick to some of my other favorite bakeries around Edmonton. read more

Destination Doughnuts has such a large variety that it made it difficult to choose which one to have. I got a box of 6 so the family could all enjoy one. The size of the doughnut are big, so the price you pay it's more like 1.5 doughnuts. I ate half of mine in the afternoon and then the other half for after dinner dessert. For varieties, I love they had blueberry and strawberry cheesecake because I like fruit on pastries and desserts, but didn't know if it would be a good on a doughnut. I decided on the S'mores even though I'm not a big fan of them, it did look tasty. It did not disappoint. The doughnut was fluffy and the chocolate and marshmallow did not make it overly sweet. Current hours (only open until 3PM) make it hard to get here unless you are in the area. Strawberry Cheesecake- no cream cheese center which was super disappointing, had strawberry jelly on top with fresh strawberries but wildly misleading as it would be much better named fresh strawberry or something. No cheese, no cream cheese. Chocolate overdose - filled with very smooth chocolate pudding. Centre was lovely but the chocolate on top does not stick and fell right off in 1 giant lump. Canadiana - ?maple, ?almond meal, not even sure. Very light/no flavor. Mango Explosion - center was very lovely. Icing was not too sweet - definitely one of the best. Rhubarb Orange Fritter - very moist, loved the texture, nice flavor. One of my favorites. Lemon Meringue - Smooth, flavorful center - could be more tart in my opinion. Mergine top was top-notch. One of my favorites. Oreo - Not very exciting in my opinion, icing/top falls off very easily. Salted Toffee Sundae - Caramel-like top - sticks well to the donut and filled with a nice whipped cream centre. Ube - loved the color and cream centre but fairly light flavor. Rolo - super sweet but tastes like a Rolo chocolate bar for sure. Name unknown but Skor bits, caramel, and white chocolate drizzle - definitely the best caramel tasting one in my opinion. They offer a variety of flavours that are unique, flavourful and fresh. I think they had about 20 flavours on display!! The doughnuts themselves are light, fluffy and HUGE. What I really LOVE about these doughnuts is that it is not to sweet. You can enjoy all of the flavours and textures without it being overpowered by the sweetness. Parkade right in front of the store so it was easy to pop in and pop out to pick up a doughnut while driving by :) Visited when they opened at 9am (thank you for opening earlier - shouldn't all bakeries be opened early so you can enjoy fresh goodies for breakfast?) and loved walking in smelling all the fresh doughnuts! They had a ton of variety - unfortunately my stomach can only handle so much, so I just got one as the doughnuts looked huge. I chose the white chocolate coconut because I looove coconut and it did not disappoint - even with the chocolate, it did not taste too sweet. Would have loved it more if it had a tad bit more coconut flavour - perhaps could be infused into the white chocolate? But either way, good flavour combo and the doughnut itself was fluffy and delicious. I took a star off because the service was lacking as in; no one greeted us, no one asked if we needed help (basically had to stand awkwardly at the cash till until someone decided to walk over) and customer service just seemed to be missing overall. Maybe they need to hire some people who are enthusiastic about their doughnuts (does it really take much effort to love doughnuts though?) and a bit more friendly? This is the destination to get divine doughnuts! All of the doughnuts are delicious! The flavour combinations for all of them were unique. The base of the doughnut itself is fluffy and can carry a lot of filling. My friend and I got 3 doughnuts: ode to sunshine, creme brulee, and toffee topped toffee. Each of them were unique and had their own flavour profile. Ode to sunshine was pretty much a lemon merigune doughnut. With the filling being lemons and the merigune pipped on top, and blowtorched. Creme brulee was simple with a vanilla custard and carmalized sugar, which gave it a nice crunch. The toffee topped toffee was our favorite. Just the simplicity of the doughnut with no filling, the toffee toppings hit us with just the right amount of sweetness. The service was a little lacking, as the employee just stood behind the glass and didn't really say much. Now this is a doughnut shop! Let's start with, there's parking! This place is my favourite doughnut spot in town. A huge and extremely unique variety of delicious doughnuts and super friendly staff. I had a hard time choosing what to indulge in but ended up with a smores, blueberry cheesecake, snickerdoodle and an Oreo. The Oreo tasted exactly like oreos, not the typical cookies and cream I'm used too. The s'mores was so detailed and other than the slight lack of graham cracker taste, it was amazing. The cheesecake one tasted like the most fresh blueberry cheesecake you can think of and lastly the snickerdoodle was to die for! I have never had a doughnut like that snickerdoodle one and I have had dreams about it since! You absolutely MUST MUNCH HERE! No fancy decor just a quality doughnut experience. Am I the only one who thought this place was just okay?? The prices seemed steep in my opinion and although the donuts tasted fresh and had interesting toppings, it was nothing mind blowing. I still prefer donuts from Bliss Baked Goods or the Italian Bakery on 97 St. Price point is way better and although they don't offer the same exotic flavours, their donuts are delicious. This is currently my favourite doughnut spot in Edmonton. I tried it for the first time as a surprise for my fiancee for his birthday and we were both very pleased!!! There is plenty of parking in front of destination doughnuts. It is important to note that it is open very select hours, closing till 3 pm every day. I recommend going earlier (it opens at 7 am) as I've heard they can run out. The doughnuts were absolutely amazing. A perfect density in combination with creative and unique flavours. We tried the triple play which was a personal favourite of mine. It has dark chocolate, potato chips, hickory sticks, and caramel as a topping. My fiancee loved the rieces pieces. We also got the maple flavour, creme brule, coconut cream, snickerdoodle, toffee, and smores. They were all delectable! I highly recommend this place! Try it out for a special occasion or a party. Boyfriend and I came here in the morning because we wanted to try a new doughnut place (we've been to doughnut party and Ohana) and wow were we ever surprised! Such a great variety and no one was even there which is crazy because these doughnuts were great. So there's about 3 designated parking stalls directly in front of the shop, the rest are designated to other businesses along that building. There is also more parking on the opposite side of the lot & street parking on the side streets & the main street with metered parking. From what I've heard is that this local business was started by a tradesman who had a passion for baking & eventually followed his dream which led to creating this gourmet donut shop. There is a washroom available, but without change table at present. However, there is a high chair in the dining area & they do have some retro tunes playing as well to liven the space. I'd say it's pretty tidy & basic with decor. Would I come back? Absolutely! On the day I came, there was a selection of 12 donuts plus the feature donut of bacon'n'cheese. They also had mini versions of half the flavours so you can try one as a sample. Prices & donut names are clearly listed, note that the Elvis (PB&J + custard filling) donut has an option of with or without bacon. I would suggest coming early for best selection as they can sell out on occasion. They also take pre-orders as well. A coworker of mine brought them in for a meeting before Christmas with their holiday flavours & I couldn't stop thinking about them after eating 3 throughout the day; so I made it my mission to pop in myself for a dozen assorted ones to taste them all! No regrets. The donut texture is amazing...so soft, so fluffy, so fresh & nostalgic but each flavour unique (snickerdoodle, smores, lemon meringue... to name a few). My kid enjoyed it too mentioning a few times, "it's so good, I can't stop eating!" We sat in their cozy little seating area to eat a couple more before we left because it was so tempting. I came here a couple days ago to get donuts for my clinic and I found it to be one of Edmonton's little hidden gems! Even though I came in half an hour before closing (they closed at 3pm), they still had a pretty good selection. The lady working at the front was very friendly, welcoming and recommended a few choices that turned out to be hits in my office, (so I really liked the option to give a tip for the excellent service). And the donuts were amazing! They were still very fresh even though it was later in the day, and the texture was incredibly light and fluffy, and, they had very tasty and unique flavors to choose from! Their base recipe is very good and reminds me of Krispy Kreme so was a very nostalgic flavor. The glazed donut on its own was very tasty and definitely a favorite! The donuts here are also very good sized, (so even though the prices are a little steep), they are certainly worth it! They have a flavor here for every palette! I highly recommend the lemon meringue (for sour), the strawberry cheesecake (for sweet), and the triple play (for sweet and salty)! For me, my personal favorite was the blueberry cheesecake! Finally tried this shop. The scents of the donuts hits you and lures you in the front door. Very nice young lady helped me pick out two of their creations. One was a maple glazed donut the other was a donut with a filling run flavoured. They were so fresh and the texture melted in your mouth. The best ever. Not inexpensive but well worth the treat. These are some DECADENT donuts and I highly recommend you try them. The S'more doughnut was by far my favourite. I don't really know what to say, other than was fluffy, fresh and tasted like a s'more (made with amazing chocolate). I also tried a toffee one, which was delish. The last one we got was a blueberry/cream cheese variety and I didn't love it, but I think it just wasn't to my taste (it's not like it was bad). Edmonton is really coming into it's own as a doughnut hotspot. Destination Doughnuts is a welcome addition and I'm always happy when I come. The location is in a good area, very accessible with a small and much appreciated parking lot! The interior is clean, light, bright and focused on what else - their doughnuts!! The doughnuts are made fresh and there is a huge assortment to choose from. Pricing is comparable to any other pastry shop in Edmonton - yes, you're gonna pay a little more than Tim Hortons, but you're getting fresh, in-house made doughnuts made with REAL ingredients. Nothing wrong with that! My favorites are the fritters (the snickerdoodle is delicious) and the filled doughnuts. I was a little disappointed in the classic yeast doughnuts as they seemed a little dry and the toppings were not a huge wow factor, but that could have been exclusive just to the batch or the day/time I was there. The owner is very nice and it's clear that he loves what he does and loves his business. Destination doughnuts is another one of those tasty businesses that have followed the trend of creating new, customized and imaginatively delicious doughnuts. I've visited destination doughnuts a couple of times now and, overall, I have always been pleased with what I walked away with. A few of the flavours I've come across are strawberry cheesecake, creme brûlée, s'more, the Elvis (peanut butter and jelly with a yummy banana custard filling), lemon meringue, mango fritter, maple, Reese peanut butter cup, the stacked (chocolate doughnut with chips and hickory sticks) and chocolate overdose. I think my biggest critique of destination doughnuts versus somewhere like doughnut party is that I tend to find destination doughnuts to be greasier than other ones. Cost wise, destination doughnuts is about on par with other gourmet doughnut places - $18 for half a dozen. Definitely worth a try because at the end of the day delicious doughnuts make us happy and you likely deserve a treat!!! read more
