Great place to grab a coffee or snack as well as your VRE passes. Friendly staff who are always happy to see you and assist you.

It's certainly better than taking the metro, even from close-in like Ballston. From L'Enfant it's just a few more minutes on the train to Union Station, meaning no red line chaos in the morning commute with the VRE if you need to go there.

Occasionally, tourists and/or kids will take this train to visit the city, especially during the spring and summer months. This place is located near a residential area and an industrial complex, yet it is isolated from most places. Most people are not aware of this station. There isn't much here. A few ticket machines at the entrance to the platform, and about a half dozen benches near the platform. At night, be extra aware when it gets dark. Over the years, there have been a few vandals messing with parked cars. Not recommended to keep cars here overnight. You will need to take the elevator down or walk a number of steps on the outdoor stairway down to get to the platform. For those with issues with heights, it may be best to take the elevator. Unlike the VRE stations at Woodbridge or Quantico, there is no convenience/coffee area at the Rippon station which is a bummer if you are waiting for a long period. Also, although Amtrak trains share the same tracks, it doesn't stop here. You either get off or on at Quantico or Woodbridge stations. Like other train stations, if you are depending on timely arrivals and departures, your trip is affected by the weather, train breakdowns (unfortunately that has happened too frequently), if other trains are using the tracks during your trip, and other VRE trains preceding your trip. The VRE Fredericksburg train lines share tracks with VRE Manassas train lines at a certain point (Alexandria to DC). If either train line is running late, it can affect later trains. Check their website for trip updates. Cost from this stop is the same price as the Woodbridge stop because both stations are considered under the same zone. Note that pricing has gradually risen as expected in this area. For updated, details, check their website. What can I say? It's public transportation.

There is no fabric cutting table except for a small, mobile one that is not at all enough space to accurately measure and cut bolts of fabric, so you have to take them to framing and whatever employee is available cuts it. Tonight I watched this person butcher both pieces with incorrect measurements as well as crooked cutting with a dull slicer and scissors. I took them up front to the manager to explain that I was not going to purchase them. She was very rude when I tried to show her how huge one piece was and how small the other was. "I don't know math" she said when I told her I asked for a 1/4 yard. I tried to show her how much difference there was between the two pieces and she said "So don't buy them then, whatever". I walked out. This is the second time this week I have had a negative experience when asking for help. Same person cutting fabric was rude and waved her hand in the general direction of where she thought magnets were earlier this week. Combine this with the fact that the shelves are increasingly empty and there are boxes and racks all over the floors. It's starting to look like JoAnns before that went out of business. I have shopped at this store for years and will not be going back.

Vamoose Bus - Vamoose/DC Trails bus stop in NYC

Took this bus for the first time for a quick weekend getaway to New York and overall the experience…read morewas great. Below are the details... LORTON TO NYC.... So we got to the Lorton VRE station about an hour earlier than our 7:20am departure and I'm glad We did. The lot was surprisingly full for it being a Saturday. I highly recommend first time Vamoose users using the Lorton lot because of its convenience. Our bus arrived about 15min early and BILL was our driver. Weight of baggages weren't checked and neither were our id's; just verify your name and you're good. After filling up the bus in Rosslyn, we hit the road. Overall the trip took like 5hrs thanks to rain and traffic. No Vamoose staff are at the Lorton station...FYI. NYC TO LORTON... No hiccups getting the bus but beware if you catch the 4:30pm bus returning to Northern Virginia you will most likely hit traffic. Our trip took around 5-5.5hrs with traffic in NJ and DE. Bill again was our driver. THE VAMOOSE EXPERIENCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE... Originally I had booked a 7:20am LORTON departure on a Saturday(8/23) with a return departure for Sunday(8/24) at 8:30pm but had to make a couple changes on the return. Sunday afternoon, after seeing everything we wanted to see we decided to attempt an earlier return. The Vamoose call center person politely put us three on the 6:30pm bus back to Lorton. We were happy with that. But once 3pm came around we again felt the urge to come back home...earlier. So we called back and again the call center was able to put us in a even EARLIER bus; the 4:30pm. Five stars for working with a undecided customer(me)! Changes were made at no extra cost. Bill, the driver drove very...spirited I must say :) maybe he was driving with both feet, I don't know but there was lots of panic breaking. It was okay though, he was overall a safe driver and got us there and back fairly quick. One stop each way for a quick restroom break. While at LORTON, this person thought she booked a Saturday Lorton to NYC trip when in reality it was scheduled for Sunday. The Vamoose staff at Rosslyn allowed her to stay on only because someone had missed the bus (that route was initially sold-out). Again, the Vamoose staff was very professional and courteous with her mistake. SUMMARY I highly recommend people use Vamoose and catch their buses leaving out of LORTON. You can't beat being able to park for free and not having to rely on the metro or a ride to catch the Rosslyn bus. Not to mention you'll be the first on the bus and get the best seats ;) As other users are saying, the regular buses are a bit bumpy but just bring some good headphones or ear plugs and you'll be good. Do yourself a favor and bring ear plus. Thanks Vamoose...see you again I'm October!

Our destination arrival time was 11:30PM. It was just me and my sister and it was pitched dark outside. The vamoose baggage handler asked us if we had a ride and we said we did. He was kind enough to hang around to wait w/ us until our ride came. He definitely didn't have to do that, but we were v grateful that he was there!
