Her first week was absolutely packed with fun activities. They did tie-dye, a color run, and even took a hike to the park. She absolutely loved it, and it felt like there was always something going on. The second week was a little different. There didn't seem to be as many planned activities, and she mentioned having quite a bit more downtime. It wasn't necessarily bad, but after such a fun and activity-filled first week, I think we were both expecting a little more. The campus itself is really nice, and one thing I appreciated was that there weren't a ton of kids in her camp group. I want to say there were around eight kids, which made it feel smaller and more personal. They also had a really fun potluck, and I've heard they sometimes take bike rides to a local coffee shop, which sounds like such a fun little adventure for the kids. Overall, my daughter enjoyed her time there, especially that first week. I just wish the activities had been a little more consistent from week to week. If both weeks had been like the first one, this easily would have been a 5-star experience. Helpful tip: If you're signing your child up for multiple weeks, just know that the activities may vary quite a bit depending on the week.

The high school is exceptional. No one is a number here. Faculty and staff know students well and are very invested in students' intellectual and emotional growth. The school has a wonderful theater program and everyone who wishes to participate may. This is also the case for all other extracurricular offerings -- Speech and Debate, Athletics, etc. I don't think enough people are aware this wonderful school is here, and that needs to change. This is the kind of school that changes and enriches your life.

My step-son is brilliant but undisciplined and he was allowed to "graduate" sixth grade without doing any work at all and only getting "1's" and "2's" his whole career there. My oldest step-child would've succeeded anywhere anyhow and still does..... My fifth grade daughter has had much the same experience as my son until this year. This year I've been heavily involved and her teacher is very communicative and the difference has been huge. The school goes on wonderful field trips in every grade. The music program is awesome, my daughter has class for 30min 3x's/week and is learning quickly. The office staff are typically rude. The parking lot ( pickup / drop off ) is well managed and there is a great focus on child safety and using crosswalks. There's also a crossing guard and a " lighted?" Crosswalk just for school goers. P.E. is not a large focus but I believe funding is gone for health at most elementry schools. The children do have a large field, two playgrounds, ball courts, basketball courts and a basebal / kickball backstop. The surrounding area is typical for the city except that there is an outpatient psychiatric facility about 1 mile up mission avenue. There are people often in the area that " act weird " but I've heard of nothing harmful from them. I would rather my daughter been in a different school for all previous years but I am happy with her, her teacher and myself right. I wouldn't choose to enroll another child in this school but I'm alright with my daughter finishing out this year there.

However, the school provided many programs and extracurricular activities to help ease the transition. MUSIC/EXTRACURRICULAR: I was an orchestra kid. The orchestra was a lot smaller, but we managed. Instruments were provided for students. The teacher was patient and taught us the essentials of reading music while teaching us how to play the instruments. We'd perform at a few music festivals during the year. From what I remember, the band program had a lot of support from the school and parents. They were well-funded and they performed in Disneyland in the spring. There were a lot of clubs on campus, too. You could always find one to cater to your interests and hobbies. ACADEMICS: Academics were rigorous, at least, for the classes I had. I think class placement was based on standardized test scores, because we had the equivalent of honors classes. My teachers were amazing with the level of enthusiasm they displayed to their students. If anyone has had Mr. Green, you knooow what I mean! A lot of my favorite teachers transferred to Rosemont High School in 2004, so you can find them there!! :]] FOOD: Before the health craze started in 2002, the cafeteria had chicken wings, fruit snacks, cup-o-noodles, Its-Its ice cream, more ice cream, chips, and soda. The hot food was the usual stuff served in all the school districts. Then BAM!!! Everything disappeared to be replaced with baked chips and juice. I understand the concern for eating healthy, but when you're an adolescent, it just suuuucked. The chicken wings were always super delicious. I weep for their loss :[ TREATS: Seventh grade trip to Country Club Lanes. Eighth grade promotion trip to Six Flags. We also had the typical school dances in the cafeteria. She left her and went outside. She left one voicemail message for me stating that my daughter was in trouble and I needed to call the office. No other attempts to reach me were made, even though I have 5 different emergency contacts available and the school readily called them all if one of my children was ill. I showed up to the school for an event and saw my daughter sitting, on display, in the administrator's office. She was alone and I had no idea she was in there and almost walked past. She immediately burst into tears BECAUSE SHE NEEDED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM BUT WAS TOLD NOT TO MOVE. Ms. O was told to apologize the next day but "forgot". I'm not even kidding. She finally did apologize (guess what- my daughter hadn't even done what they accused her off, which really doesn't matter because even if she did this was child abuse). CMP's response was to promote Ms. O to Principal of her own campus. I would never trust this administration. They can keep deleting my reviews all they want but I will keep returning. Parents deserve to know.

We really weren't there with the intention of finding a school for our kids, but after seeing the campus and getting a glimpse of the environment, we honestly walked away pretty impressed. The school has a lot happening for the kids, with events, activities, and things that seem to give students something to actually look forward to. That stood out to me because school should be more than just showing up, sitting in a classroom, and waiting for the bell to ring. The staff also seemed genuinely happy and energetic with the kids. Everyone we saw appeared friendly, engaged, and like they actually enjoyed being around the students. That kind of atmosphere says a lot. I also liked that there seemed to be plenty of support and services geared toward both the children and their parents. From what we were able to see, it feels like they're trying to create a real school community rather than just running a school. And here's the funny part...we left saying, "We weren't even looking for a school!" But then came the inevitable, "Well...what if our kids went here?" So no decision has been made, but Bradshaw Christian definitely planted the seed. Sometimes you go somewhere just to look around and accidentally leave with homework. Now my wife and I have another conversation to have..."So, are we actually considering this school now?"

Unlike what happens in public schools (kids make fun of or try to talk over the person presenting) I am a firm believer that Bradshaw Christian helps our kids keep their innocence about them and that is something no amount of money can buy.
