So, I am NOT a mall shopper. I thrift. I shop online in the middle of the night. And it's tough to get me to shop with others because I don't like spending a lot of time in stores. So this little trip was quite interesting. We spent the day at Destiny USA before heading the the State Fair and I really do like this mall. There's tons of shopping, activities for the kids, and plenty of selections to eat. Obviously, most of the dining options are your standard shopping mall cuisine, but there's something for everyone. This place is HUGE and although we spent a few hours here, we still didn't see everything. If you're a shopper, this is worth your time! read more

Well with three levels of shopping you will find something for everyone. There are some general department stores as well as off the cuff stores for entertainment value. They have some chain restaurants that bring a large selection to choose from if you are hungry. My favorite is cantina Laredo. Wish they would bring this one to Buffalo. Margaritaville is also there. Huge variety. But what we notice the size of the stores are smaller than normal. That is why I can't give the mall 5 star. Sometimes when shopping the selection was smaller and getting around a crowded store was discouraging. Great mall just to visit when you have time to just shop. read more

First time here over the weekend! Great selection of stores that you can't find in Rochester and Buffalo! My kids love the Disney store! :-) Michael Kors is a personal Mom favorite! So many options for restaurants on the third floor, and tons of activities like rope climbing, go carting, bowling, and even a movie theatre. There's also a hotel which is interesting! I will start off by saying I am not a people person and I hate malls. There is about 100 ways to get in and twice that of things to do. The great thing about this place is the ample parking. I would avoid it in December, but otherwise should not have a problem finding a spot. The main attractions I go to in the mall are Auntie Annes and Cold Stone. Conveniently located next door to each other, right by the Best Buy entrance. I do not stick around for the crowds or groups of kids who have nowhere else to go. If you like shopping, it may be good for you. But, the crowds it attracts, I'd stay away. read more

Avoid during weekend nights when it can be a mad house. There are times of pretty intense violence, but it is not a regular ocurrance. There is a variety of clothing stores and activities available for all ages. If you are bored, it is a solid bet. read more

I've lived, worked, and part of me died for this mall--I hope it can survive America's new reality... I worked at Original Cookie Co. when they brought in the Carousel... I've seen it rise and fall for 25 years... This is one of the last great malls in America... I wish it all the best... I'm so torn when it comes to Destiny. I like it because you can find pretty much any store you may possibly need but I always question if the hassle involved is worth it. As others have noted, getting into the mall is tough and traffic can be downright awful on weekends. Who wants to sit 10-15 minutes while looking for parking just to get into the mall? Once inside it can be very confusing when trying to find your way around - maybe I'm just not mall savvy enough but it can be a real pain to get where your going if you only need to hit a couple places. To their credit, Destiny has added touch screen info screens that map out your route to a store - cool! The new restaurants are nice and give a nice boost to the tired options the mall has previously offered. If you're like me and not big into malls as it is, then you'd be better off avoiding Destiny. read more

Carousel Center (now Destiny USA) was one of my favorite malls in Upstate NY when I was growing up as a teenager. I had some friends in the area and we'd head over to the Carousel Center and I parked my car in the parking garage under the mall on rainy days, a perfect day for mall shopping. We'd hang out for hours and also ride the carousel in the food court. The Carousel Center has a lot of good stores and eateries, many have come and gone over the years. On the downstairs common level back in the 1990s, the large pharmacy offered canned sodas for 35 cents and there was always a line. I'd also spent a good amount of time at Lechmere browsing the electronics, stereos, and CDs in the good ole days. Today, the mall has a decent Best Buy store and I also enjoyed shopping at the two level Borders Books (closed for good), where I've attended live musical performances and CD signings. If I were a teenager (under 18) today, I couldn't go to the mall after 4PM on weekends without my parents. Several years ago, the Mall, like other Pyramid Malls, implemented MB-18 (Must Be 18) requiring anyone under 18 to be escorted by parent or guardian 21 or older after 4PM on Fridays and Saturdays, except for the cinemas and exterior entrance stores. Staff in green jackets will check IDs at the entrances to the mall. As an adult I can shop at the mall in peace on Friday and Saturday nights. All those Green Jackets makes me feel like I'm at Augusta, Go Tiger!!! read more

My husband and I stopped here on our way to a wedding in Rochester. I loved it. Not so much because of the deals but because it's huge, clean and pretty cool looking. I could have spent an entire day here. They have regular stores and also outlet stores. They have a lots of restaurants and also an amusement "park." My husband hates shopping but he tolerated a few hours here without getting bored. I did score a pair of Crocs flats for $6 at TJ Maxx and a Coach card case for $7.99 (although, full disclosure, it was a made for factory item not transferred from a boutique, but I really needed a card case and the price was right!). I saw some BCBG dresses for around $35-$50. They have a Burlington Coat Factory (my latest bargain-hunting discovery)!! I found it a fun place to just walk around and look at stuff. I think that Canadians (such as myself) will enjoy seeing stores and restaurant chains that we don't regularly see in Canada. I would say that Destiny USA warrants a special trip. read more

I'm not much of a shopper. I'm too old to ride the Carousel. My idea of shopping is getting what I need and getting out as quick as possible. Still, there's something pleasant about "destiny usa" or the Carousel Center. Sure, it has had its history of disappointments with promises of thousands of new jobs created and press releases touting that this mall will change Syracuse's economy (and somehow attract tourists..?). No, that hasn't materialized. However, they have built a decent mall that I think is a fairly attractive and huge structure from the outside. I came here to shop for my sister's birthday gift and with NO IDEA what to get her, and hundreds of stores upon walking in; I was a little overwhelmed. I stumbled into Eastern Mountain Sports since that's what was near the food court and looked around and then went to Macy's and scouted some nice spice racks. Sure, she could use that! I checked some other stores to compare and found a nice one at JC Penny, bought it and then went to the Hallmark store to get it gift-wrapped. Perfecto! She loved it. What I like about this mall is the smoke-free environment and their efforts to give preference to compact cars. Their effort to be 'green' may be about the additional marketing clout, but it presents a 'clean' image to me, the shopper and consumer. I felt good walking around the mall. I will feel good about going back. Sure, it may not live up to its promises, but it's a pretty cool, huge place. I will be back next time I'm in town and maybe they'll renovate this place so much more by then. read more

When rating a place, I tend to compare it to its peers. I've been to King of Prussia outside of Philly and this place seriously stacks up against KoP as one of the best malls on the east coast. What is lacking in culinary diversity can be made up in consumerism variety. You can buy high end jeans and then wear them to zip around a go cart track for a half hour. A quick glance at their website shows over 150 stores and I don't think I've seen a third of them yet after only a few visits. I even got confused when I wanted to see what theatre section looked like so I tried going up like five or six levels, only to be told that those areas were "private". Are there high end condos hidden in the mall that we aren't aware of? My curiosity is still getting the best of me. Maybe it's because I have been there during the week but parking has never been an issue. I like parking outside of the Dave & Busters entrance where the indoor walkway bridge is, hop on the escalator and enter in comfort when it's -5 degrees outside (not an exaggeration). I've been a fan of Texas de Brazil for awhile now, sans the prices they charge. I feel this is your best dining option inside the mall but be prepared to open your wallet here. Hell, be prepared to open your wallet in many other places like the anchor Lord & Taylor and Coach. The good news is, there is also an "outlet" section on the lower level although I'm not sure how good the deals are. I'm excited to potentially try the ropes course hanging out over the mall itself about seven stories high. I really like how they made it more of a destination. You'll notice malls that have activities inside are the ones that will be thriving in the future. Those that don't have much now beyond your typical stores are the ones shuttering their doors all across America. Syracuse should feel pretty lucky to have this gem right outside of their city, even if it needs more local ethnic flavor and less Cheesecake Factory. read more

Wow this mall is huge and has a bit of everything that you could really make a whole day out of it besides just shopping there are loads of shops, a Dave and Busters inside the mall, a nice sized food court as well as several restaurants onsite. They have some big flagship stores including Macys and Lord and Taylor, but they also have some other stores conveniently located in the mall too that include Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx. Although there are quite a few empty stores too especially on the lower level hopefully some new stores will come into the mall. Overall a nice mall for the area, the main draw backs. When you approach the mall it sort of looks like a prison since there's one side of the mall with a big chain link fence and barbed wire. Also for as busy as the mall was on the day we were there, I was surprised there weren't more parking garages especially given the winter months and the snow and just the sheer amount of cars searching for parking. If it weren't for these things I would have given this place a 5 star review. read more

Destiny USA - Shopping Centers Near Me - Syracuse, New York

If Syracuse didn't have this mall, nobody would probably live here. Let's be honest, there's not much to do in Syracuse. And just about everything else there is to do, it's located in Destiny USA. You can shop, play games, catch a movie, get adventurous and climb some things. This mall has everything. It's great for kids because they will never get bored. It can get expensive, but make sure to check out the customer service areas for coupons. There's also fun strollers available for the kids. Don't worry about the price, you get your money back when you return it to its location. The mall is always changing. You can go there every week and find an addition of their store lineup or find that one of your favorite places disappeared or moved to a new location. Parking can be the worse but they do have valet parking if you're willing to pay for it. The weekends will get extremely crowded, especially in the food court. Thankfully there are plenty of restaurants you can enjoy that won't break the bank. read more

I enjoy shopping (probably a little too much). While this is one of the largest malls that I've ever visited, one might think I was heaven. However, during my visit I was too overwhelm to actually be able to enjoy the trip. Pros: -Plenty of parking -Most American stores inside the same roof -There is corner full of outlet stores -public transport is nearby Cons -Stores are not organized in a logical way. I was easily disoriented and the signs weren't easy to follow -The new section of the mall feels a little bit disjointed Will I visit this mall again? Probably. While there are things one cannot change, I might change my strategy and conquer this mall by sections and in multiple visits. ;) read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars because it use to be really great! Now that 3 of my favorite stores have closed down due to the increasing rent the mall charges, it's been really depressing place now. Yeah they have all the normal stores there but thinkgeek was one of the best stores for toys and collectibles and clothing and Best Buy was great there, I went there all the time and spent 10s of thousands of dollars building pcs from there for customers. read more

Typical shopping mall with your typical stores. I think there's 2 to many Abercrombie stores but what do I know? There is a DSW downstairs and a glow in the dark mini putt! This mall is a very large doing complex located near i90/Fairgrounds in Syracuse. It has a lot of things to offer... Both economical and higher end clothing stores. Nightlife/recreational activities for all ages is also not off shirt supply. There's plenty of restaurant offerings as well as a food court. We often make a day trip of it and shop here when we are in Syracuse. read more

I remember when this was Carousel Mall and had the cute horse names for the parking areas. I've since moved away and haven't been here in about 8 years so a lot has changed. First off, it's much larger than before. I mean, they added WINGS to this mall so you could get lost. Second, it has a ton of stores that I didn't expect this mall to have. Third, due to the size you need more time than just quick in an out. We had lunch at World of Beers which was a good addition to the mall (and a good place to drop your husband off when you want to shop) and then found our way to the "old" section of the mall with the stores I remember from when I came here--Williams Sonoma,DSW, Apple Store, the food court. The food court is just the same as before, there's even an Sbarro! I stopped at Lululemon which was a nice surprise because this Lulu had half new stuff and half outlet which meant great prices on items! I wish I had more time to shop/browse but it can be overwhelming. I really do like this shopping center because it has everything you could think of! read more

I spent 4 hours at this mall and didn't even come close to seeing everything. They have a great range of stores and even a wing of outlet stores. My proudest purchase from today was a pair of grey strappy suede heels from Johnston & Murphy that retail for $188 - I bought these for $25 and they're still $50 on the website. Other great purchases were two things from Nordstrom Rack - a pair of black skinny Hudson jeans for $17 that easily retail for over $200 and a gorgeous hunter green dress that I forgot the brand name of but retails for $190 that I bought for $20. read more

If you're looking to run into a few stores this is not the mall for you. It's too huge, takes too much time to walk around and it's too much of a hassle to get in and out. It's also not a mall where you can easily walk around and browse every store. I usually get tired or lost before I walk the whole thing. If you're planning an all day shopping spree it's a good spot with it's abundance of sit down restaurants for breaks and quick spots to grab snacks or drinks. It's always packed on weekends and I generally try to avoid going here if I can. read more

For a small city mall I think it does pretty good. It has a pretty good selection of unique stores that I haven't found elsewhere. They have decent entertainment options. The food court is ok. The outlets portion was disappointing as there wasn't many options or good prices. The biggest selling point for me is the number of comic book related stores. One of the websites I purchase from have a location here, so it was worth the trip for me just on that. read more

According to the Uber Driver, this mall is fourth largest retail mall in the USA. For those who live in Broward County, Florida, take the Broward Mall, add a second story and in sone parts a third floor and decorate it like the old Fashion Mall. Unlike most other malls this one have no vacant stores. The mall has Lord and Taylor, Macy's and JC Penney's. I walked around the mall for hours. As a mall it is fine; yet in South Florida we have several malls, like the Sawgrass Mills, Broward, Town Center, etc. so I was not dazed. Yet the staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. read more

This mall was the best I have been to by far. Tons of stores to keep you interested. Its the fourth biggest mall in the country I believe. I was impressed by the adventure course they have suspended throughout the mall. Looks like a fun thing if you have kids. If you want drinks there's a Dave and busters plus a dozen other great looking places. There is even a bar you can golf in. Movies are there too. And bowling. I can't forget the go-carts. Destiny USA - Adventure arena suapended in the mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Syracuse, New York

This mall has many retailers, and I visit it for specific stores. I needed to go to 3 stores this past week, which all went well, good stores with helpful sales associates. I had the misfortune of walking past a store I had not seen before, LAVELIER. DO NOT WALK past this store. It is a skincare store with very aggressive sales people that will drag you into the store under the premise of giving you a free sample. The skincare products are a scam, and you will be coerced into buying them. It was a BAIT and SWITCH. I agreed to try a Gold Elements eye cream, and it appeared to tighten my eye area really well, and I was impressed enough to pay $300 for a jar of it, and he threw in an eye serum for the price. I don't know what was used in store, but the product I brought home did not work near as well. They sell 2 brands- lavelier and Gold Elements. I researched the brands, and only found the brand websites and all sorts of reviews about avoiding the stores due to the aggressive sales and subpar, very expensive products. I also found that the Better Business Bureau gives the stores an "F" rating due to the reasons above. Another reason for the "F" is that they don't accept returns. If the ingredient list was accurate for the 2 products I bought, they weren't horrible, but they contain a bunch of different "fragrances or parfums" that are listed as allergens, or sensitizing agents, and are not recommended for use by the European Union or Canada's equivalent of the FDA. I don't trust that these products contain what they say, have no idea where they were manufactured, and realized I wouldn't be able to return them based on the many reviews complaining about the stores in other places. I will be throwing the $300 worth of products in the trash, and chalk this up to falling prey to a scam. Thus, the 3 stars for Destiny USA for letting retailers like this rip off the mall's patrons. I know times are tough for malls, but LAVALIER should be evicted from Destiny USA. read more

What an awesome mall!!!! There's so much to do! My boyfriend and I came here a couple of times during our weekend in Syracuse. There's a ton of activities aside from shopping. We got to spend a couple of hours playing at Dave & Busters and we even got to watch a movie at their Regal Cinema. I love shopping but it's hard for me to look around if I'm with my boyfriend LOL (Ladies, you know what I mean!) We just walked around the mall but didn't actually go inside any of the stores ha ha We came back the following night and went to dinner at Gordon Biersch. They also have Margaritaville, Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang's but my boyfriend had never been to GB so we went to try that. When we went we didn't have trouble finding parking. You can definitely spend a whole entire day or weekend here and have a lot to do! If I'm ever back I want to try their tightrope!!! read more

After a full career in my own practice, now I can go to my favorite all-in-one place, help patients all day, and get whatever I need before going home. It's well organized, and has everything I could want except Wegmans. Movies, bowling, fast food, full restaurants, and so much more, make this my favorite mall, and I've lived all over the USA. I'm a bit of a shopaholic and Destiny USA definitely cures my shopping craze. It's absolutely massive and I'm sure it'll have whatever store you're looking for. It has something for everyone. Of course it has your usual mall stores Gap, Old Navy, Victoria Secret, Aldo, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Bath and Bodyworks just to name a few. There was one sale rep helping a customer, another looking up information, I presume, for a customer and another straightening the back counter with people waiting and then proceeds to walk away. Parking can be a challenge. There seems to be a lot of construction happening inside. There's also a hallway with empty information booths, which is kind of weird. Inside the building is oddly shaped. Good luck finding the bathroom. Does not hold a candle to the Mall of America. read more

This mall is huge, one of the biggest in the United States, I hear! It has a surprising amount of pop culture/comic stores! A few highlights: It's one of the few malls I've seen with an actual Think Geek store, which I had to check out. My cousins enjoyed the rope climbing course in the center of the mall. There's a decent amount of 'experiences' at Destiny Mall, so you can do a lot more than just shop (assuming you have cash)! It's kind of similar to the Mall of America in that way. If you're in Syracuse, you might as well hit up this mall. There's a lot of fun indoor activities to do, perfect for a gloomy or rainy day! read more
