However, he asked me to pay for materials at Home Depot with my credit card. I asked Home Depot for a receipt, and found that he'd also charged a $20 snow shovel, along with some snacks. He also didn't get the correct length of nipple for the faucet, and left me to go find it, install it, etc. And the job came in $200 over the estimate. That wouldn't have been a big deal except for the other items. Since the overall price wasn't bad, I hired him again on another house to install a door between the porch and living room, as well as fixing a toilet issue. He didn't cut the door short enough, and, without asking me, chipped away at the floor to give sufficient room for the door to open. When I was looking at his work, he told me that a thin transition could be placed over the ugly results to make it look better. I took his word for that, but later found that even the thinnest transition wouldn't fit under the door. I contacted him about trimming the door further, and he didn't respond. I asked twice. He hasn't responded, and this was now some weeks back. Again, the price was over the estimate, and this time with a truly unsatisfactory result.

At…read moreapproximately 6:30 AM on a Saturday, heavy excavation equipment was actively operating just outside my residence, causing significant noise disturbance. Starting excavation work this early on a weekend shows a clear disregard for nearby residents and raises serious questions about the company's judgment and planning capabilities. If this reflects how they manage project timelines, I'd be concerned about how they handle larger jobsite decisions. Professionalism includes respecting the communities in which you operate. I hope Ron Meyer & Associates Excavating reconsiders their operating hours and adopts more neighborhood-conscious practices in the future.

Communication is poor. Assessment of wooden steps that were already broken and dangerous was declared "not a big deal, just be careful walking down". Steps are breaking more now and they won't return a phone call even with an update as to when they might start work. If they did not have the time or thought the weather would be an issue, that is something better to communicate up front. Instead under the impression that they were building off site and would just have to place at our house. Now we have received, it is cold, what do you expect? Will update if company starts communicating. Contract is vague but looks like it might lock consumer in, even if they do not respond to phone calls.

The light trim around the edge wasn't something I would have thought of on my own, but it is a fantastic accent that really looks nice without adding any cost. The work was performed quickly, efficiently, and professionally, and we couldn't be happier with our new deck. We were so impressed with the results that when our main deck is ready to be replaced, we fully intend on having Renaissance come back out to compete that job as well!
