This hospital is the best all around. They doctors and nurses are very caring of the patients my mother that is 83 yrs old is in care of Dr. Garza excellent doctor. The nurses are so very nice in the ER and the fourth floor I never experienced such wonderful and caring people every single one of them genuine wow I am so impressed with the service they really take good care of the patients. Horrible place rude nurses and doctors. The doctor tried to get us to sign a DNR after they screwed up. My mom suffered a stroke while there and was paralyzed on one side. I told the nurse something was wrong and later found out she had a torn lung a stroke but came to the hospital due to stomach pain and they apparently did not do an MRI because it was scar tissue. I tried to find an attorney to file a law suit. I have pictures that are horrific. By the time I tried to file suit she passed away and the statue was running. read more

I was taken there after I had a seizure, first night was crazy, my mind was playing tricks on me. Making me think one thing and it was actually different. The nurses and aides where very understanding and always with a smile. I know at first I wasn't an easy patient. I have never been to a hospital like that were the nurses are RNs and are always somewhere in the hall and not behind a desk for most of their shift. My 80 yr old mother with congestive heart failure. She was admitted via EMS with pneumonia. She has a DNR. I was never given any updates on my mother. I had to ask. I was her only visitor. My mother was also left with water bottles she can't open them them herself. Her hand aren't strong enough. The next day no I've. A jug with melted ice and no cup. No straw!! My mother was out if it I believe she was dehydrated by the hospital staff not paying attention to things!!!! She was there for 4 days. We demanded she be released and sent home. She didn't pee until the next day after consuming 40 oz of water and cram raspberry juice. She also ate very little. No one ever explained her black vomit or Black stool. Even though the nausea meds made her more ill. There were two shots given for nausea with the same results. in the 3 hours I was there. She vomited continuously. I'm my mother's caregiver. I had to tell them day two that she couldn't open the water bottles. If we have another health crisis before her death we will be going to Citizens. Our Dr who is very compassionate helped us with her release. ‍ read more

Citizens is 5 star compared to detar well first of all they didn't send medicine to the right pharmacy plus my spouse needs it he can't get it till Monday knowing Walgreens wasn't open on weekends they knew it didn't send it to the pharmacy when we told them told they can't change it it was electronically sent to wrong pharmacy if he has a flare up he will go back but not to detar that why there no one there everyone goes 5 star hospital then they don't listen at check out the either read more

I have been experiencing abdominal pain for two weeks. I visited Yvonne Ruiz two weeks ago, but due to my severe pain and lack of sleep, I forgot to bring the correct insurance information, so they sent me home. Later, I sent in my insurance details, but they said it was the wrong provider. I then realized I had given them the wrong information and gave her the correct one. I informed her that I had fixed this error many months ago, but the person on the phone likely didn't check. She claimed the information wasn't updated. I know it was updated because it shows correctly on the insurance website. She gave me attitude, and I responded in kind. She then informed me that Yvonne would be out of town for the entire following week. I asked if I could see someone else, but she said I would have to change my provider. Seriously?!My husband called on my behalf and requested a callback, but we never received one. A whole week passed with no callback. I called again yesterday, left a voicemail, and still haven't received a response. I have been living with intense sharp pain, lack of sleep, and fear. Detar Hospital on Navarro in Victoria Texas is a VERY irresponsible place. Don Don't take ANYTHING personal out of value with you if you have to go there. They WILL lose it! My husband was VERY sick, he went into the ER by ambulance, a few days before Christmas. He was very out of it. We HAD a VERY HEAVY DUTY moving/transitioning pad That we put underneath him so that we could move him more easily. It went with him into Detar ER. From there they moved him into ICU. Between the ER and ICU, they LOST it! I have tried since dec 23rd to get ANYONE at that hospital to help find it, no one cares! They claim they've looked everywhere for it but they don't know what happened to it. Now What!? I guess it's our loss. Did they even offer to pay for it? No! Now what? I mean, how could you lose it? It's bright dark purple on one side, gray on the other, oh yea his name is on the gray side of the pad. Smdfh! So beware with any personal items. VERY unprofessional. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. They blatantly violated hipa laws. I told them not to inform anyone of where I was being sent and there were people that knew before the ambulance got me to the receiving hospital. I have filed claims on this wrongful violation. Also the emergency room staff was horrible, rude,disrespectful and non caring. Dr Stone and the head nurse Bonnie were the rudest medical staff ever. Stay away from detar. read more

We had an awesome experience!!! My daughter is only 4 and she had an outpatient procedure done. My little sweetheart is scared to death of doctors so the hospital is a scary place for her. Every member of the staff went out of their way to make sure she was at ease. The procedure went without a hitch and was non-traumatic because the staff at Detar was so attentive. The nurses here are excellent. However if you need a urologist do NOT depend on Dr. White. My dad has been waiting 5 1/2 hours and still no sign of him. It is is beyond ridiculous. When I asked for another Dr the staff said he was the only one on call. read more

My first experience with this hospital as I sit nearly 3 hours after our scheduled procedure time. AND we had to be here 2 hrs before that!! So 5 hrs waiting on a minor procedure that was scheduled by the hospital!! I'm so furious. The worst part is they called us to come in earlier because they had a cancellation!! My daughter had her first child in late November 2018 at DeTar North. I must say it was the best experiences from all the medical staff. Dr. Zamora was a blessing and had so patience with my daughter. The nursing staff did an exceptional job in educating my daughter and discussing her plan of care. I have had excellent care here but today at the emergency room was absolutely appalling and humiliating!! The nurses were careless,thoughtless and just plain rude. They wrote on my discharge instructions that I was "elderly"...I just turned 32. A mistake/typo I am sure. But come on people this is a HOSPITAL not a shopping mall and y'all had a grand total of three patients in the whole department !!! I almost got completely out the door, discharged, dressed,paperwork signed etc with my IV still in my arm. A nurse that wasn't mine had to stop me on the way out to the lobby or I would have left with the thing dangling from my arm. No excuse for the hateful treatment I received, either,that quite honestly I am not going to go into details about because it is horrific and my blood pressure can't handle it. If I could give a negative 10 rating I would and I WILL BE COMPLAINING TO THE ADMINISTRATION IN THE MORNING. These people will hound you for payment even if you have set up a payment plan. Hounding me to pay more each month on an ER bill. The only reason that I had to go to the ER was because their nurse did not relay my allergies to the surgeon. I would suggest going to Citizens unless you have a death wish. read more
