When I arrived I was triaged and told to wait in that area. The provider came to the triage area, looked in my mouth, and told me to go to the dental school at UTMB. I had easily seen swelling to my face so any competent provider could have seen I did not have time to sit on a wait list for a dental school or wait to make a regular dentist appointment. When I asked if he was going to assess me, do any imaging or labs, he said they don't do assessments for dental. I will be reporting them to the state for failure to provide a sufficient medical assessment. I left Palacios very upset. I later went to Citizens where all of the staff were wonderful and not at all dehumanizing as they were in the trash Palacios ER. I received an adequate assessment including lab work and a CT followed by treatment. I received IV antibiotics which were necessary for the level of infection found by an appropriate and adequate medical assessment. I also received non narcotic IV pain control which I was very satisfied with as I am not a drug seeker although that was obviously the snap judgement made of me at the Palacios ER. I guess 1 patient is one too many for the lazy staff at Palacios ER. Just close it because you don't care to do the bare minimum so you're just wasting space.

This place is the best ER there is. I have only been referred to the hospital once from here because they found I had retained placenta and had to be admitted. The doctors and patients are always so nice and willing to help, and they go above and beyond. I have had insurance coming here, and I have had no insurance coming here. Either way, I saved a ton of money and they are always quick to handle the problem. I will always refer this place if someone asks me where they need to go. 11/10, definitely recommend. While I didn't like not being able to interact with anybody other than staff (I mean, it's a hospital setting, so...), they have Roku Tvs with Netflix in the rooms, and you can sign into any of your own services. Jason and Tina in particular are amazing, but I had no negative experiences with anyone working there. I will say, if you're there long enough for a meal, it's going to be a frozen dinner that they throw in a microwave. The upside is you have an exact calorie and carb count, if that matters (I'm on insulin, I have to dose based on carb intake - they let me self administer since I'm on an insulin pump). At one point they apparently would order from restaurants, but that probably cut into the CEOs hush fund too much (joking) Thr care is great. The food is terrible (I mean... It's a frozen dinner). The bill will max out your deductible (and likely your out of pocket even on a HDHP). But they truly do care, and they've stayed in touch to see how I'm doing.
