There were extensive graffiti art and murals spread out around this place. They have accumulated murals over years by many different artists and their own styles. They are very colorful, detailed and brightens up the neighborhood. We had fun adventuring and observing the beautiful street art around the market. Free and very entertaining something everywhere. Nice spot for some photography to click some vibrant art. This is a definitely a place to visit as there are many different variety exhibits. Even my 5 year old enjoyed it here, worth a visit !

Starting in mid-December (through the first week of January), Cadillac Square is taken over by a beautifully constructed set of glass walled shops housing popups from wonderful local business, from brick and mortar shops a curating a specific experience (like the POST sponsored gift wrapping area) to local brands without storefronts showcasing their wares, there's plenty to see here. I popped in last week and saw so many wonderful things, from artisan snacks from Folk, pet friendly items, baking supplies, (I may have dropped a pretty penny on their beautiful sprinkles), accessories made from reclaimed wood, gifts for kiddos, hair products, permanent jewelry, board games, and so much more (see all the vendors for 2023 here https://www.deckedoutdetroit.com/winter-markets). And the vast majority of the businesses are women and/or Black-owned! Oh, and there are delicious smelling Belgian waffles, though I had just come from dinner and was too full to enjoy that particular offering. In addition to the markets you can enjoy the Cadillac Lounge, a cozy pop up ski lodge with seasonal food and beverages, loads of vignettes to take holiday photos at, and the Monroe Winter Midway which has an arcade, a massive arctic slide, bumper cars, art installations, concessions, and more. Oh yeah, and there's the skating rink and the massive lit tree and menorah across the road in Campus Martius. Weekends get pretty batty here but hours extend later into the evening. But if you're able to make it on a weeknight I recommend that as you'll likely have an easier time navigating all the fun things without the crowds.

We particularly like The Rocket, which is a fun shop with toys, candy, and various peraphernalia such as superhero merchandise, etc. We also like the dining and pub scene there, particularly the The Oakland which has great cocktails and sports a new look. In other words, this is a great town in which to spend a day or evening and 9-Mile on both sides of Woodward, particularly the west side, are fun strolls. Woodward has a few things as well and Troy St. also has some commercial opportunities. On the cautionary side (and this is a minor thing but one that stuck out to me), the fact that Woodward runs right through town makes it almost feel like a highway is right on top of the town center area. So while Ferndale is still a fun visit, this means that any sort of quaintness is gone. This is often expected with a small town. But as long as you know that, the attraction is still there. There is plenty of accessible, affordable parking which helps with a visit to an older area not originally meant for the volume of humanity it currently sees.

The sculpture was designed by artist David Barr and architect Sergio De Giusti, and it's meant to symbolize the strength, unity, and enduring spirit of workers. Funding came from labor organizations like the United Auto Workers and the Detroit AFL-CIO, along with civic groups to honor the sacrifices and achievements of American workers. The arcs don't touch, symbolizing the unfinished mission of the labor movement. At night, a beam of light connects them, representing the energy and unity of workers. Surrounding the sculpture are 14 Vermont granite boulders, each six feet tall, engraved with bronze reliefs by De Giusti. I love looking at the incredible details. For example, there are 7 granite boulders depicting the history of labor. There are also milestones that highlight the accomplishments of the labor movement. Fantastic Art and Craft Show. This is the one we never want to miss. We make a list of gifts and…read morethings for the house - or jewelry - that we're looking for, and we always find surprises. This past Show, we went back the second day, as there were booths we needed to go back to, as we realized we'd seen items that would be really good gifts for specific people. We saw beautiful handmade resin jewelry - including tiny leaves done in resin. There were hand-made wood bird houses and feeders in shapes of cats and birds and faces. There were many booths with art made from embroidery, chrochet, and knitting, there were photographic and painted art, and so much more. The whole event is arranged nicely, with plenty of shade, good parking, and the best quality of arts and crafts. We've marked our calendars for next year's show.

Macomb Place is closed down in festival fashion, and vendors come in to peddle their wares. I was surprised at the lack of food here - they had kettle corn, and a few grillers, and that was about it. The vendors this year looked like they were catering to mothers even more so than last year. Cheesy things you'd expect at one of these: a guy doing caricatures for $5, incense and incense holders, candles, pottery, plants, garden supplies, and so on - HOME stuff, and a lot of it looked like things I'd find in my grandmother's backyard. There was one highlight to the afternoon - in the fountain Gazebo a band was playing. I was leaving when they began to play, but came back after I realized they were playing a sort of Cabana version of Gnarles Barkley's "Crazy". That was pretty sweet, and they had a good sense of humor about it. I'd suggest this festival for a Mother's Day-ish afternoon out, but not for the young and hip. There's very little young and hip in it.

Located at the top of what appears to be a Sphere shaped concrete amphitheater in the super cool and impressive hart plaza in downtown Detroit. Located in about the dead center of all the doll sites of hart plaza me and my family poses for some touristy and fun photo ops in front of this mural after we discovered hart plaza while walking the surroundings are of our nearby hotel. Overall we had fun with this and it was a cool pice. Very well done and large and located in a cool spot and backdrop. Made for perfect photo ops for our little mini vacation.
