Odessa
Jillian D.

I've only heard the best things about this hidden gem of Ferndale. After trying their polish food, I can confirm that it is worth the hype. It tastes like home cooking in the best way and was perfect for a cold day. I will definitely be returning to try more of their menu in the future

Veggie wrap

Purchased a groupon a while back for our trip to Detroit. Located in Ferndale, this place is not too far from where we are staying. Location is a little tricky to enter (parking lot) as if you blink an eye you are gonna miss it. Place is small and it was not too busy when we arrived (late lunch). Our server was very nice and attentive. As for the food, I ordered the veggie pita and added chicken along with their potato salad with fresh dill. My friend ordered a reuben sandwich and potato salad as well. My pita was fresh but the chicken made it rather dry. Potato salad (redskin) was good and I loved the fresh dill but it was a little bland for my tastes. Overall, food was good but not excellent. Would definitely go back if I was visiting again as what shined was their hospitality and the rest of their menu looked good.

Pastrami special with potato salad

This place only gets better with age. I remember when Christine's just opened up, and it was a small restaurant with big ideas, and great food. Now it seems like they have found their niche, and still have the great food. If you get a chance this is the place you want to go for the specials, and they pierogies! The woman at the to go counter / waitress was inviting and so friendly to everyone as they entered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have extended their dining area and it seems to be bigger than what it was but it has not lost its charm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is a must in Ferndale. I'm going to give them

Exquisite pierogi with carmelized onions

In the recent snowstorm, Christine's Cuisine offered dinner delivery! They offer local lunch delivery, but this was new! Took advantage of it, got 1/2 dozen of their incredible pierogis. And that night they happen to have FROG LEGS! Yesssss Everything arrived hot, quick and perfectly cooked I guess I'd say this is definitely one of my fave Ferndale restaurants (no offense Fly Trap) Bomb Burrito and Potato Pancakes are also stellar

Tuscan Chicken

My mom randomly invited me to dinner with her and my dad since ya know... they found a Groupon for this nice family restaurant and here we are. The small space is filled to the brim with love, feel it right when you walk in. It was relatively slow for a Friday night which I was thrilled about. Here's a good breakdown of the food - Lemonade - YUM! Home made and completely passes my seasoned taste buds. - Tomato basil soup with Gorgonzola - solid. - Perogi - They were on point. My preference for the potatoes is a little different but they were, in fact, authentic. Ok so the Tuscan chicken..... a little on the dry side with the rice vs noodles - but our waiter was super nice and allowed me to switch to the Tuscan Shrimp. Delish and filling. A true taste of comfort. I'll be back with hungry friends and more Groupon lol.

Beef Strongoff

I am tasting my way through Ferndale, one restaurant at a time. I have called on numerous occasions for the beef stroganoff. It's only available after 4 as part of the dinner menu. Wah! I called at 3:20 for a pre-order of the stroganoff. I walked in 5 minutes early and didn't have to stand around, she had it ready. The restaurant itself is smaller but quant. Onto food-- The beef stroganoff. Delicious. The sauce has a great taste. The beef was chunked and oh so tender. It is plated/boxed over noodles. Came with a salad. I ordered a Coke to go. For my meal and tip was $25 and change. Pricey for it but I'd buy it again.

Beef Strongoff

All of the dishes here are really good. However, the one that stands out the most to me is the beef stroganoff. It's plentiful and delicious. The meat's texture is perfect. Juicy and tender just the way it should be. You can tell it's high quality steak. And the sauce that's poured over it is delectable. Creamy and hearty. Just the way it should be. It's mixed with mushrooms and I'm not the biggest fan of mushrooms but this stuff is incredible. It's pretty much addicting. I find myself scooping up the sauce with my spoon and eating it by itself when I've finished all the noodles and meat. The meal also comes with a roll and your choice of soup or salad. Kudos to Christine's Cuisine for this incredible meal! It's become part of my regular rotation.

Turkey sub
Renee J.

First time visit for lunch. We ordered the Turkey sub sandwich with Bettermade potato chips, and the French dip with potato salad and upgrade to French fries. The potato salad had large chunks and the dressing did not have much flavor. Two ice teas to drink. They don't offer alcoholic beverages, but you may bring your own.

Stuffed Tortellini
Eric M.

Everything I've ever ordered from there is amazing. From the stuffed tortellini to their Odessa Dinner, food is just great. Also they have the MOST amazing pirogies and sour kraut. ( minus the sour). Even if you don't normally like it you should still try it. It's subtle but great flavor made it one of my favorites. If you haven't tried this place you are definitely missing out

Wet Burrito
Jayson S.

Food was good, I came to try borscht and they didn't make it which was a bummer. I had combo plate which was good and my son had the Wet Burrito. He said it was pretty good. Service was good, place was busy with both people dining in and take out. Good ambiance and food. Worth a try.

Salmon I drenched in sauces and redskin potatoes are not that good very dry and flavorless
Antoinett S.

I don't know much about it because I my husband found it through a Groupon, but we went there on a Friday night around 7:30 and they were rudely rushing us out because they were closing at 8pm on a FRIDAY. Which I found to be weird, but they told us our food was being made to go which was fine by me, but they didn't have many options for the menu. I ordered the salmon and there was a drip of sauce on the salmon. When I asked for more I was told that I can only get one extra and there wasn't enough for me to get two sides if sauce ( which I knew was a lie) I let it slide because it felt like the lady taking my order had an attitude about me not wanting to eat dry salmon. I just left the restaurant without getting my sauce and I was upset that I had to go elsewhere to make up for the lack of flavor and moisture in the food any ways I'm willing to give them another try and next time I'm getting the Tuscan meal

The food was so good we talked about it the whole way home…read more First time visitor here, we tried the chopped salad, fettuccine Alfredo, and margarita pizza. My daughter didn't care for the pasta as it tasted very strongly of garlic, but the texture was amazing and the portion size was filling. The pizza was so good!! It was just the right amount of crispy, chewy, cheesy, and saucy. The chopped salad was the hit of the night and plenty big enough to share. Our server was great and I loved the interior, my only complaint would be that it was so loud.

The way our table was set up was not convenient, we were by the wall with one entrance point, so the people on the booth side, had a long way to slide in and out with 6 people to a side. The restaurant was not busy and the service was slow and inattentive. Sometimes it seems that when the tip is included for a large group, the server doesn't feel the need to exert any effort. For the most part, everyone enjoyed their food. The lobster avocado toast was the standout. I had the farmers veggie skillet and it was just ok: Eggs were barely cooked and the potatoes were over cooked and dry. I did like the cheesy veggies. As a final note, any restaurant that can't split a check in our day and age, loses points for me.

So I have to say that driving to this place makes you feel like you're in the wrong area but it's…read moreexactly where it says it is. The inside of this place looks amazing and the outside patio is even nicer, this is a very romantic looking restaurant. We went here for my wife's birthday and thought I would treat her to a nice restaurant for dinner and that's exactly what it was. Now the way their ordering process goes is a little confusing, I don't know if it was our waitress or it's just how things go but we ordered our drinks and then after they came Out with our drinks then they asked if we wanted an appetizer then after that came out they asked if we wanted a meal, so like I said I don't know if that's how they do it or it was just our waitress. So we ordered our drinks and I had a Smoked Old Fashioned, anywhere I go if I see that cocktail on the menu I order it, when it came out they had the smoke infuser on it and when they took it off the smoke just bellowed out, it tasted amazing, I have to say that it was a really good old fashioned. For an appetizer I had the Caesar Salad which tasted fresh, crunchy and just refreshing, the cheese was delicious and the dressing was really good. Next I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken added and it was very delicious, the noodles were soft, the chicken was delectable and the sauce was very flavorful. Everything from the ambience to the food here was flawless with the exception of some older gentleman that didn't stop talking the WHOLE time we were there, nothing we could do about that but everything was perfect and I would love to come back and try other meals. So a few things to point out is they offer valet parking for $12, they offer brunch & Breakfast every Saturday & Sunday and on the bill they add Gratuity (20%) on there already just so you know before heading there, most people freak out about not knowing this and I am here to tell you it is added, however, the food was worth every bit of it.

Food: 3.5/5 Service: 3.5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4/5 Drinks: 3/5 It was a decent experience that I would give another shot, but definitely not as advertised. We were there for a special occasion (I added that to the reservation note); not the biggest deal, but we weren't asked about that at all. The drinks were decent, but not the best, and the same was true for the food. Some dishes were pretty good, including my husband's chicken parmesan, but others could have been better. We also tried the crème brûlée cheesecake for dessert, which was pretty good, but the brûlée top was gummy rather than crackable. Additionally, the plates themselves were somewhat hard to eat from as aesthetics seemed to come before functionality. No spoons set with the flatware, either, which should be standard for an Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was good, and server was friendly, but service was a bit spotty for a relatively slow night. However, food and drinks arrived quickly. Our water glasses were not ever topped off, and when the busser did come by, the wrong plates were taken away; bread and oil were removed and our dirty/empty dishes left behind at the table. So, it was decent, but not quite the fine dining experience it purports to be. Hopefully it will get there, because it is a cool spot.

All were medium-small plates but were flavor-packed without being overly-salty or saucy, which I appreciated. The cheese pizza surprisingly was the winner. Thin crust with just the right amount of crunch, nice melted mozzarella cheese, soft and nice texture to the mouth. Beef Ragu and Shrimp Arrabbiata were also winners. The shrimp pasta was actually spicy, so be aware as there were some jalapeños, but it was a pleasant spice and was not overwhelming. I did not expect this but it wasn't bad, but maybe would have liked the warning. The Beef pasta was great with nice shredded beef with red sauce and square pasta that you could tell was home made. Pistachio cheesecake was a little off in that it didn't really taste like pistachio and was a bit sweet and artificial to me. Service: attentive. Waitress was nice and handled all my questions. Answers she didn't know she went and asked. However despite this she did not get my order right as I wanted the veal but she somehow heard I wanted a second beef ragu. We were in a rush so didn't want the dish re-made so just went a head with 3 dishes for the 4 ppl in our party which surprisingly was enough. She apologized appropriately. Manager/higher staff also came around and made sure our food was good. Ambiance: Dim/dark. Quiet despite some chitter-chatter. Good seating inside and outside and downstairs and upstairs.

I also ordered Carbonara because I was craving that and didn't want to make it at home. They put CREAM in their Carbonara, which is a culinary SIN. They might know how to make fresh pasta, which is easy, but to destroy that dish by adding cream shows they have zero skills with regard to Carbonara. The silkiness of the sauce is created by adding small amounts of pasta water, parmesan, stirring constantly until it's creamy. Suffice to say, I won't be dining in their restaurant. If diners in MI were more discerning, maybe one day it would be feasible for a restauranteur to receive a James Beard award. Don't hold your breath though.

I was surprised the menu wasn't more Italian / pasta focused, but there were a lot of interesting options. I ordered the Gemelli and split the beet salad with my bf. My bf ate a bit of it and I still had a large carryout box. There was so much leftover we split that and the rest of the salad for our dinner. All in all everyone enjoyed their meal and commented on the nice staff and good food. The staff was particularly nice and stopped by several times. The bad? It was 30 degrees out and we were seated by the front door. Every time someone came in we were hit with a blast of cold air. Some people were clueless and literally stood holding the door open while waiting for friends. So - Como's should build an entryway of some sort to shield their guests from freezing air every time someone enters. I can't imagine what it would be like on a zero-teen degree day - which is pretty common in Michigan.
