I have had an issue of water leak at one of my doors that has been an issue ever since the house was built due to improper installation. Back in 2015 (when the house was complete) the first rainy season came, and a ton of water came into the house. Unfortunately I was not living in the home at the time, it was rented. We had already moved out of state. I knew of the issue- and visited it every single year, off and on. I did have a couple contractors look at the problem and quoted literally thousands of dollars and explained the issue to be a long drawn complicated one. Being military, with a crazy schedule, and then due to the $$$ we never finalized repair. Intimidated by committing to a contractor due to money and then not having the time to do research just made this an ongoing issue. Every rainy season, water would come in, creating some significant damage. Finally, round 5 here we go...I randomly decided to pursue this again, with absolutely no hope that anything would materialize. Within 7 days of contacting James at ACME, issue is 100000% resolved. Cost? 1/8th of what others were quoting, the issue? Not complicated he made it seem simple. He responded to my inquiry SO quickly, so efficiently. He made the time to go out to the home immediately for an inspection and when I asked him when he planned on going out, he said he already completed majority of the work and just needed to go in for some final touches. It's beyond quality of work or work ethic, it's beyond an honest contractor who quoted a price that I could not refuse and with a keen eye inspected other issues that needed to be addressed, it's beyond all that. It's about finding someone that respects your time. I am only in the US for a few more days, and I expressed to him that before I left we could even get to the point of him making an appt. with my tenants and going out to the home, I would be so happy. (Most contractors in the area would either cancel their appt, or provide too long of a lead time- weeks). He completed the job before I thought possible, beyond expectations, for that I am SO grateful. Being active duty- it's always important to find someone that is trust worthy, reliable, self-motivated, and values your time. I will certainly be a return customer. We changed an old tub for a wonderful upgrade, expanded the shower area, with high-end glass, added excellent tile work throughout (he has a great tile guy), changed counter-tops, and even moved a wall of 50 year old cedar panels to extend an existing wall. Were there hiccups along the way, sure. But now, several years later we are thrilled to use these rooms every day. We work at home and the lifestyle enhancement has been profound. Truth be told we did a good deal of research before and chose well with our components and visual choices. The paint work was superb (he has a great paint team too). The team had an amusing cast of characters and I enjoyed them. They took tremendous care to keep the spaces (bedroom next to the bath) absolutely clean and protected. It took a while with delays and fixes but now all I can say is we really appreciate all the effort that went in and Milt's good spirit to get it right. We hired Step Above in August '17 to reside a duplex we'd just purchased in Everett. Their bid was…read morethe best and so they began removing 2 even 3 layers of siding in some places since the building had been around since 1901. Once the siding was removed they made it flush and prepared the building to be sided with new hardie plank. We hit a few snags a long the way, first we told them not put the hardie plank in the driveway a long the ally way for fear it would get stolen. Mike, Larry, my husband and I all came up with a plan to have the hardie plank put in the yard where it could be seen by the tenants, but hidden from prowlers by the fencing. Well when it arrived they put it at the end of the driveway right next to the ally way, where $1,500 worth of siding was stolen. Mike doesn't listen very well, so you always have to be checking to make sure he follows through on what was previously discussed. Luckily Mike took care of the loss since we had specifically asked it be stored elsewhere due to potential theft. Additionally, Mike didn't order all the windows that were supposed to be ordered which delayed the project. When all the windows were ordered, he ended up ordering windows we didn't need and replaced 2 perfectly new windows...ugh! Again, he doesn't listen! Despite the set backs they did a great job and the cost for the work was 10's of thousands below the next bid and I'd hire them to reside another project.

I had them add several things after the bid and the work had started, including sheeting, fascia boards and gutter removal. They accommodated me at a reasonable price. These guys are super busy. NOW we're faced with having to repaint our exterior and interior home after only a few years -- a cost we shouldn't have to bear so soon after the previous poorly done paint jobs.
