My only assumption now is that the dealership was his friend or a conflict of interest in which he should have denied taking the case on day one instead of tagging us along and misleading us. He has no letterhead and his business cards look like they were made by a 7 year old on a dot-matrix printer. His office is in a hallway. He's not a serious attorney and is completely incompetent. After I explained my issues with his handling of my case, he stopped returning my calls and forced me to find a new attorney. He is classless, hopeless and a horrible attorney. He yelled at me at least once on the phone, resulting in my personal rule that I only communicate with him in person or via email. His emails were often misspelled and grammatically questionable with a lack of punctuation that frankly forced me to re-read every correspondence multiple times. When we arrived at the first appeal he had to be asked multiple times to act more professionally because his actions reflected poorly on me. Before the second appeal he emailed me to let me know in no uncertain terms that (despite what our contract stated) he would need several hundred more dollars AND a ride to and from his house or he would not entertain the thought of providing me with the already-paid-for representation. Using our contract's own wording I pointed out that his email was a voluntary termination of our agreement (in other words, he quit), at which point he seemed to understand that I was literate and attempted to contact me regarding showing up at the appeal after all. I had to firmly but politely tell him MULTIPLE TIMES that his employment as my attorney was at and end and I was not interested in rehiring him under any circumstance. Besides this he completely lacked a professional letterhead and I was embarrassed when he started handing out his "business cards" at my first appeal as they were on regular computer paper and looked like something he had printed up and cut out himself that morning. At our consultation before the appeal he refused to speak with me about the case until after I had paid him, and then after I had he defined the law in question for my appeal (which I knew, as it was something that took about five seconds worth of research on google to find) and then seemed uninterested in the specifics of my case and how they compared to the law. In short, don't use this man for any legal needs ever. If DUA suggests him as a reasonably priced option for your upcoming unemployment appeal, call them back and demand they give you another number to call.
