Would not recommend. She is not well experienced in her field. She cancelled on me the first time to tell me on the next appointment that she is not experience. I feel so insulted by her! Be much clearer on what you can do on your site then to make a patient feel like an idiot for giving them your time for you to cancel on the first appointment right before and then tell the patient when you do make it that you can not help them. I went to Devon in March of this year with issues of procrastination. I was stressed and would often avoid doing my work and most important of all, taking care of myself. I have had anxiety since I was a child and finely tuned into Panic attacks over the years. Generalized anxiety kept me homebound some days. I could not drive or go into a store. I don't particularly care to go into the details of why I went to Hello Hypnosis or what I was seeking help for. But, I am happy to report that the treatment was very effective. Ms. Adams is warm without being gushy. She projects competence and compassion. In three sessions we accomplished more than can be achieved in hundreds of hours of talk therapy and at a tiny fraction of the cost. The personal recording she makes for clients is an incredibly valuable resource that I've made part of my daily routine. First, Devon is a lovely person and my daughter felt very comfortable with her. BUT, I am not overall pleased. Devon told us 1, maybe 2 visits. She also said she provides a recording to reinforce after first visit. We did not receive the recording until the 3rd or 4th visit when we asked for it. And the hypnosis only marginally "kinda" helped on 1 of the 2 issues but not really as there has been no achievement of either goals, just minor progress on 1st goal with absolutely no achievement of 1st goal. Not sure if getting the recording after 1st visit would have helped, but we certainly would not have had to spend so much money for no results as I would have ended it sooner. Again, Devon is a lovely person; the hypnotherapy was just ineffective. read more

We decided to try hypnosis for my 13 year old son to address his phobia and anxiety with getting his blood drawn. My son has Type 1 diabetes and was diagnosed when he was 2. At the time of diagnosis he had to get an IV inserted and it took over 13 tries until they finally got a line in. This proved to be very traumatic for him and as he got older he developed PTSD triggered by even the thought of getting blood drawn. Ironically he can do finger sticks and insert his pump site without any problem. His annual blood labs are very important for his health maintenance and to make sure he has not developed any secondary issues. I used to have to hold him down or have a nurse assist in doing so through screaming and tears and genuine fear. It was awful for everyone involved, especially my son. The last time we tried, his father took him and they both left in tears, unsuccessful. The idea of hypnosis came up and my son was game. I found Devon at Hello Hypnosis through web search and other reviews. We had a free 20 minute consult after which I felt confident and excited to embark on this new treatment. The initial session was about 90 minutes long. In the beginning my 9 year old daughter and I also joined the session and Devon guided the 3 of us in a short hypnotherapy activity, calming each of us measurably. After which my daughter and I left for about an hour and Devon guided my son through some exercises to help him overcome his fear. She gave him tools to practice daily. An object (a stone) he could focus on and a mindfulness recording he could practice 1-2x/day. He felt very relaxed after his session and we set up a 2nd session the following week. During the week in between my son practiced his exercise a handful of times, not nearly as often as recommended, but he's a 13 year old! The 2nd session went pretty much the same and when I came to pick him up he was so shocked that it had been over an hour! Devon has a very calm energy. She creates an environment that is relaxing and safe. She has a friendly and approachable personality with a warm smile. We had discussed having a 3rd session during our consultation but after the 2nd I spoke with my son and he seemed ready to give the blood draw a try! Even having this discussion was progress. On the way to get labs a few mornings later he was calm and present. We sat in the waiting room and he had zero traces of worry on his face while he relaxed and read a book. The technician called us in after a 20 minute wait and he sat in the chair and pulled up his sleeve. I could tell he was nervous but he had resolve and worked through it. The tech was excellent but unfortunately she could not get enough blood from his one vein and had to poke the other arm...worse case scenario, right?! Well, my son adjusted his sleeve and gave her his other arm without a fight. I had tears well up in my eyes witnessing this complete change. When it was all done we were both all smiles and the tech gave him a big hug. I was beyond proud of him. When we got in the car he told me he knew he was going to be able to go through with it because the night before he was excited. He's never ever said anything like that about a blood draw before :) And then he said, "Mom? Will you please tell Devon, thank you?" Um, yes...I will definitely tell her thank you!! I decided to try hypnosis for the first time because I was experiencing a lot of anxiety and stagnant energy about moving my family out of Austin. Like a lot of folks, I had plenty of misconceptions about hypnosis, so it took me awhile to reach out to Devon at UpTempo Austin. My daughters are avid dancers who are continually trying to improve their technique. Last summer, Ms. Adams conducted a hypnosis workshop for the dance team at RRRDC. During the half day workshop, the dancers where encouraged to express their concerns, challenges, and goals for the upcoming dance year and competition season.
