I did my due diligence when looking for lenders/brokers for a recent house purchase. Brian at Devon Mortgage had great reviews, and on contacting him, he insisted on an in-person meeting so we could have a more substantial conversation. I was glad I did. I left convinced that Brian was the lender for me. As a broker, he worked with about 16 different lenders, so was able to get me a better rate/package than anyone else I had approached. He was always available when I had questions, when I freaked out a bit at seeing the loan paperwork for the first time, and walked me through everything (more than once I think). He was great about explaining how various rates and options (PMI, etc) would influence my rates now, in ten years, and over the life of the loan. He even came by the closing and helped straighten out some last-minute lender confusion to keep everything moving and on track. First and foremost, Brian Kenedy is a dream to work with! Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, he gently steps people, no matter how ignorant, through the mortgage process with grace and ease. I was so ignorant when I started, but by the end, when I signed the papers locking in my rate, I felt confident because I knew what I was doing. He explains every step very clearly and leads people in the right financial direction based on their income, savings, and assets. Most importantly, he saved my husband and me over 2,000 USD in origination fees. Because he works for himself, he does not have the overhead costs a bank or mortgage firm has. This means the bank pays him; you do not. Moreover, after doing several price comparisons, it was evident that the rates he landed were as good or better than other companies and banks. Don't waste your money. It pays to at least contact Brian and see what he can do for you. When we purchase our next home, we will go back to Brian.
