We have done all of our jewelry business through Devon's for over 35+ years. It only takes one bad experience to ruin all the good ones. This one cost me $475.00 and surely when Sandy says, " let me know what I can do to make this up" she sure as hell isn't gonna credit me or give me the money I lost because of their screw up!!!! For our anniversary, my husband bought me a set of diamond earrings many years ago. Every anniversary for 3 years he would trade them in for a bigger diamond earrings set. Fast forward.... Recently we traded in my wedding set because ever since the prongs were redone on my current set and the prongs would get caught and snag things and my clothing. Even after having it sent back to have the prongs smoothed down. When we traded my set in for the new set we had extra credit and decided to purchase a set of 14k gold Diamond earrings as a gift. The Diamond earrings were never given as a gift. So, we decided to trade the 14k gold Diamond earrings and my current white gold earrings in for a nicer set of earrings. Two employees, Karen and another guy could not find my older Diamond earrings in their system. I even told him to ask Sandy the manager she will remember. They kept saying, I didn't buy them there, I had to have purchased them somewhere else. I called back a couple days later and they still couldn't find anything. I wound up selling the newer 14 karat gold diamond earrings on Facebook marketplace and lost money on them. Because I don't wear yellow gold and I could not return them because it was four months after the purchase and there return policy is 30 days. Fast forward.... I was shopping for a set of birth stone earrings for a gift. While in the mall I briefly glanced at Devon's and seen Sandy (the manager) was working. I shared my recent experience with her and and how her employee said I never bought my diamond earrings there. Sandy explained something was going on with their system and found all 3 purchases of my diamond earrings in the system. I shared again how her employees, very adamant about how I did not buy them there. The last pair of diamond earrings she said were in her system as yellow gold, but my earrings are white gold. Same exact size and everything else. I may have had them put in the white gold setting years ago, but it would have been done through Devon's which they should have had a record of that. The following day Sandy called me with all the proof and verified, yes my earring were reset in WG by Devon's. (Photo of record attached) Karen was present and I told her she owed me an apology for being so adamant that I never bought my earrings there. Karen started acting dumb and making faces like she had absolutely no clue what was going on, let alone being any part of it. THAT PISSED ME OFF! So I walked out of the store. To NEVER return again! Sandy called me minutes later on my phone offering to make it right with the birthstone earrings that I was shopping for. A bit reluctant, I went back to Devon's and looked at the birthstone earrings. I did not feel good vibes at all and definitely wasn't getting any good deals she offered. I never got an apology, lost money because of it. I left and bought the birthstone earrings elsewhere. Its unfortunate I have to return every 6 months to keep up my warranty. But, I will NEVER give Devon's my business again!!!! read more

The only way to fix bad customer service is: NEVER RETURN and WARN OTHERS! Customer loyalty is largely dependent on the quality of the customer experience provided. Bad customer service is a major disappointment! ; It manifests when consumers feel neglected, undervalued, or irritated due to the poor handling of the situation by Assistant Manager, Austin and employee, Karen. Extremely argumentative, driving 40+ year loyal customer out the door, to never return! The stores are employee owned. Sharing or requesting Devon's to make a wrong on their part, a right is a waste of time. Sandy the manager of Devon's in Redding had Matthew Terseai, manager of Folsom, Ca call me. They initially re-sized my engagement ring after my husband proposed, and I expressed my concerns while they measured my finger but was dismissed "because the ring will fit tighter once your band is attached." Sure enough, ring was still too big for me once returned and I didn't want to pay for a second resize so I've been living with a ring adjuster on ever since. I went back in Jan and was met with a very condescending attitude by the male working when I asked about adding sizing beads to my ring. It was clear he did not want to do them and quoted me $200. He was very pushy about me having my bands soldered together and resized (clearly there is some self-serving reason he wanted me to do so based off his attitude and persistence, maybe it voids my ring warranty or something). I do not always wear my rings together. Like the other reviewer, I happily forfeit my warranty by having the beads added for $50 at another jeweler where I'll take my business moving forward. :) read more

My experience with Devon's Jewelers is limited to just the storefront in the Mount Shasta Mall in Redding, CA. I'm not sure if they're all the same but I hope not. I'm not an experienced jewelry buyer but needed a wedding ring set for my bride-to-be. In browsing several stores in the Redding area, she found a set she liked but it had to be resized. We were informed resizing would not impact the integrity of the ring, and of course, they don't do any work on the rings there in the store other than cleaning so the rings had to be sent elsewhere meaning we had to wait a couple weeks before we actually had them in our possession. This was a lesson for me. I'll never buy jewelry from any jeweler who send rings elsewhere for sizing or repairs. Within the 1st week one of the small diamonds on the band fell out and was lost. Another drive to Redding and another couple weeks wait to get the ring back with the missing diamond replaced under warranty. But the prongs were sticking up and grabbing on sleeves. We had the ring inspected by a Red Bluff jeweler who informed us they could identify over 20 prongs that required adjustments and quoted a price of $200 for them to make it right. Not wanting to void the lifetime warranty on replacing lost diamonds by having another jeweler work on the ring, we went back to Redding and let Devon's know we weren't happy with the work. The manager inspected the ring and said it looked fine to her and no work was needed. In the end I returned the wedding band for a store credit and they agreed to send the engagement ring to be inspected and repaired. We were informed later that the ring had so many defects they would remove the diamonds and set them in a new ring. I received another call saying we could pick it up two weeks later. The ring was not available for pick up for just over three weeks. We decided to build a ring guard with two gold bands on both sides of the engagement ring to protect the diamonds. Trying to use the store credit and of course pay an added fee of about $500 they could order the two gold bands for us. They demanded payment before ordering the bands but I refused to pay until I could see the bands to ensure they were what we were asking for. They said the best they could offer me was a 3D CAD image of what it would look like but no money meant no bands. They said they could email the image in a couple days. Nearly a week later I finally got the images but showing only one band with the engagement ring after we clarified we wanted two, one on each side to guard the diamonds. So today, we went to Redding again, to a different jeweler who does all their own repair work after a quick call describing what we wanted and being assured they could find or build what we wanted to our satisfaction. We arrived at the competitor store and shortly after, placed an order for the two gold bands and coming in at $152 less than Devon's was going to charge us. The new bands will be ready to pick up in 2 days rather than 2 to 3 weeks down the road which is important since after all the waiting our wedding day is closing in fast. Finally, this competitor will solder the rings together at no charge for us ensuring we have everything to our satisfaction before the wedding. Sorry Devon's, but I will happily forfeit your lifetime warranty for any lost diamonds in favor of the outstanding customer service we received by one of your competitors there in Redding. If you're looking for jewelry, I recommend avoiding Devon's Jewelers based on my experience. I hope this review helps others avoid the frustration and delays we experienced. read more

The older woman with short dark hair that was "helping" my girlfriend and I was unfortunately very rude and had a patronizing attitude. She was unkind to my girlfriend because my girlfriend was unaware of the time frame for purchasing a men's wedding band due to her being newly engaged. She had laughed at her and I believe there would have been a much better and informative way of stressing the time line to her than the condescending tone she gave. The customer service is gone from this location, how unfortunate. When working with customers who are spending a small fortune, I feel it would be best to take ownership of mistakes they've made when it comes to workmanship on custom pieces, as well as repair work. Unfortunately the manager, Sandy, prefers to side step and won't take responsibility without a poor attitude that leaves one feeling unwelcomed and humiliated by the experience; she blames the customer. I've spent a lot of time and money over the years here. I'm finished with this store. Customer service brings people back, once that trust is broken, it's over. I've had a few poor experiences here, and I've finally learned my lesson. Go to Fields jewelry if you want great customer service and fair pricing. I will say that manager Judy at Devons is a very good customer service rep who cleans up the messes left by other employees. She listens and does not shift blame to the customer. My husband and I made this our jewelry store when another store messed up his watch and told me they would fix it but I had to pay for it even though they screwed up the seal. I have never had a bad experience and Sandy and John are great to work with. I have am on first name basis with the employees there and never leave disappointed. My husband has given me jewelry from there and I love every piece of it, diamonds, stones, pandora and never wronged by them. They even started a wish list card for me so that when my husband goes in and isn't sure what to get they can point him in right direction. If they don't have card they seem to know my style of jewelry and know what I like cause I always seem to get the most beautiful pieces from there and they know what pandora charms I will like also. Let me tell you a little story.....Devon's STINKS!!! I went there over two months in advance to pick out an engagement ring, I had a deadline because I was going to ask my girl to "marry me" in Cancun, Mexico. I realized early on that the band was going to be a custom job, but we both knew what it should look like and it was a pretty simple design. We worked with John, who is a nice guy, but CAN'T GET THE JOB DONE!!! He adamantly told us for over a month, "that the custom band couldn't be done that way" and we went through three JPEGS, that were never right, to show us what we didn't want. Finally he got a wax model that we went to go see, and it was wrong of course, but lo and behold what do we see behind the glass in the store???The very band we were describing and showing pictures to John! He looks at the band, then looks at us and says "we can do that," and I'm thinking to myself, "are you F***ing kidding me." However, there's not much time left so I tell him make it look identical. John only works three days out of the week, so I don't hear back from him. I had to call and ask what was going on, only to find out that John has the JPEG, but didn't tell me because he wasn't working those days. Again, the JPEG is wrong because his communication skills with the custom jeweler are ATROCIOUS! Finally he says I'll talk to the jeweler and we will get it to you on time, which he had been saying the entire time. Couple of days later he calls and says he can't get it on time........I'm panicking at this point and tell him to make it happen, he can't do it. I talk about borrowing a simple band with my stone and he says that will work, but it will cost $500-$700????? At this point I'm pissed and desperate, I only have two weeks left before my trip and I don't know what to do! I call Anderson's Jewelry in Redding and tell them my situation, they say, "get the diamond here today and we can make it happen!" I rush over to Devon's, grab my diamond and deposit, and head to Anderson's. The owner Teresa, who works almost everyday, lets me tell her how I would like my custom band. She tells me it can be done. She sends off my diamond and has the JPEG done in less than 24 hrs, it's perfect. I stay in contact with her on the ring for about a week. Amazingly, it not only gets here before my trip, but a few days earlier!!!! The ring is absolutely perfect and my plans in Cancun go off without a hitch. In conclusion, don't go to Devon's, go to Anderson's. read more

I went into the store after getting married to have my ring resized. When I walked in two girls were just sitting there staring off into space and looked at me without even greeting me. Finally one walks over and asks what I need. I tell her I need my ring resized and if the jeweler was in. She took a look at my ring and asked me my size, chuckled and said I doubt he can do anything but we can send it to him because he has his own shop. I didn't like the way she had a tone to her voice and had no care for customer service so I simply said I couldn't part with my ring and said thank you, in return she looks at her coworker giggles and says well ok. Mind you this women was a lot older than I am & I don't enjoy being talked down to or treated less of a guest. I won't be ever getting any jewelry there. I ended up walking over to Harry richies where I was greeted with a smile and all the help I could get. read more
