Carole is the absolute BEST - if you're having a wedding dress altered or need a dress made for a special event, she should be your only option! I bought my dress from a&bè in Midtown, and saw her as soon as the dress came in. I felt so taken care of and was grateful for her guidance every step of the way. I wasn't sure where I should get a veil and she ended up making a custom veil for my dress too. 100000/10 recommend! You'll be in the best hands

Carole was absolutely amazing! She fit me in for an initial meet-and-greet very quickly back in January, which I really appreciated. Her professionalism and attention to detail were outstanding -- and the final result was everything I could have hoped for. My dress fit like a glove when I picked it up! Carole also provided two different estimates since I was unsure whether I wanted to customize my gown. Her patience as I made my decision was incredibly helpful; I never felt rushed or pressured. If you want a stress-free, detail-oriented alterations experience for your gown, I can't recommend Carole highly enough!

Carole is incredibly talented and patient! She will do the work and give you what you want if it's possible. She not only did my wedding dress : took it in, reconstructed the straps, hemmed it, and bustled it. But- she also transformed my mother's wedding dress for me to wear at my rehearsal : took it in, fitted the sleeves, and cut it to tea length. She is worth her cost if you want something done well. I wouldn't have trusted my dress with anyone else. She's also just a very kind person who's easy to talk to so it makes the appointment something to look forward to.

OMG. Don't think twice - if you can have Carole alter your wedding dress, hire her on the spot! She is the best there is. She took this absolutely stunning dress, and made it look like it was made for my body. The dress was complicated - a bubble hem, many sizes too big, chest area that had to be slimmed down for my bust, a back that was brought up a few inches, and a bustle had to be created. She made the bustle PERFECTLY, and made it so simple and foolproof that it took less than 5 minutes to bustle. In addition, she altered my Friday night dress down an entire size, and that also was a complicated dress due to the design and zipper. What resulted was perfection. I couldn't be happier. I would trust nobody else! And throughout the many months, it was a joy to get to know Carole - she is a wonderful human on top of an absolute killer seamstress.

I am very late to writing this review, but Carole did the alterations for my wedding dress back in May - July 2024. We needed to adjust the bodice, length, straps, and add a bustle. Carole was communicative and offered helpful, knowledgeable suggestions throughout the whole process, and explained why something would/wouldn't work. I remember she took the time to go through a few iterations of what my bustle could look like and came up with an absolutely gorgeous option that stayed put on wedding day (even with me doing a swing dance) 100% well worth the money for such an important item of clothing. The dress fit perfectly on my wedding day. Thank you Carole!

Over the years Carole has altered several bridesmaid dresses and my wedding gown. She is extremely talented, and worth every penny! I have a hard time finding dresses that fit correctly in all areas and she worked her magic every time. If you're looking for a bargain, she's not your gal - but her prices match her skills and experience. If you have a dress you don't want to risk ruining on a bad alteration, spend the money to have it done right.

Choosing to have Ms. Carole do the alterations on my wedding dress was one of the best decisions I've ever made. From our very first meeting, Carole was very kind and upfront about what work my dress needed, most importantly the cost. I went to a few other alteration places around the Sacramento area and in terms of cost she was on the higher end of the list. But Carole was worth every penny. Her work was impeccable and made me feel like my dress was specifically made for me. The fit was perfect and hugged my body in the most flattering ways I could ever imagine. I felt so beautiful whenever I stepped into my dress. I received so many compliments throughout my wedding day, I loved hearing all about it. What I also liked about Carole was how easy she was to work with. Once the deposit to book her is made, she makes a timeline for you in the next few months to come in for fittings to check on the progress. I love an organized queen! Carole is a talented seamstress and worked magic on my dress. Not only that, she was very sweet and one of the most positive people I've been lucky enough to work with. As an anxious bride, I felt very relaxed knowing that my dress was in good hands. That piece of mind is priceless. I recommend any future brides to book with her for the most stress free experience.

Carole is the definition of THE BEST. I highly recommend Carole Kenney Design to any bride-to-be looking for one-of-a-kind, beautifully crafted, perfectly fitted wedding gown alterations. The quality of work CKD provides is nothing short of exceptional. I cannot express enough gratitude for the custom wedding gown Carole created. I felt like a princess, and I received countless compliments on how stunning and unique my gown was. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. First, Carole took the time to understand my vision and style preferences, ensuring every detail was perfectly tailored to reflect my personality. We worked together from the initial sketch all the way through the final fitting. I have a large cup size (DDDD), and one of my initial concerns was finding a design that included cleavage but minimized my cup size. Carole knew exactly how to craft my bodice to do that and put my concern at ease from our first meeting. I had a vision for a dress with a low back, which can be difficult with such a large cup size. Carole knew exactly how to craft the straps and back of the dress to give me the look I was going for, but also provide comfort and support. I could go on and on about all the amazing details, from finding the perfect fabrics to layer to make the back of my dress look like my skin tone, to sewing in a zipper that is invisible and works perfectly, to crafting a beautiful bustle that accounted for the fact that I was changing shoes from heals to sneakers after the ceremony. Another amazing detail Carole added was beading from my grandmother's wedding gown to the back of my dress! Her years of experience have given her the perfect eye for detail, knowing exactly where to place the beading to make it fit with the design of the dress. Beyond the gown itself, working with Carole Kenney Design was an absolute pleasure. The entire operation is professional, responsive, and incredibly accommodating throughout the entire process. She made me feel at ease, taking the stress out of finding the perfect dress. Thank you once again for making my wedding day dreams come true!

Miss Carole took my dream dress to the next level. She is hands down the best. She is so considerate of your vision and your budget, finding ways to make it work. Ive never felt more beautiful. Her experience is unmatched!

I HAD to come back and update my review! I now have the pictures from my wedding and wanted to show the world the VERY talent of this lady! Like I have said before, if you have a wedding dress that needs to be altered SHE IS the woman to go to!

Wedding day photo of altered dress by Carole

Outside of being the absolute sweetest person, Carole is an absolute GEM and incredibly talented in her work. I purchased a sample dress that I knew would need some alterations as well as some restorative work, and after reading the reviews about Carole, I knew there was nowhere else I wanted to go. Upon our initial consultation, Carole was very knowledgeable about my style of dress with its intricate beading and French seams. She informed me of the process she would have to take and a cost by the end of the appointment. She was also reconstructing my mother's wedding veil from the 80s to make it into my vision. To say I was impressed was an understatement. I immediately left the appointment feeling 100% comfortable leaving my dress and veil in her hands. I looked forward to each of my appointments with Carole. Her work is impeccable. My dress went from fitting well to being fit for my body in the best way possible. I cannot say enough about the magic she worked on my dress with restoring the beading and creating my vision with the veil. I left my final appointment with Carole giving hugs and taking pictures to make sure I remembered this time and the work that went into making me the vision of the bride I imagined. I am so grateful to have worked with Carole and would recommend her to absolutely everyone. **Including a picture of the day I picked my dress (long, straps long, no structure in the waist) and a picture on my wedding day with it fully fitted to my body. Carole, if you're reading this, thank you. I felt like a dream on my wedding day. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you and your work. I feel so lucky to have worked with you.

Carole is AMAZING! She tailored my Aleena Leena dress, which had tons of intricate beading and lace, and made it absolutely perfect. She came highly recommended by my stylist, Theresa, from a&bé bridal shop, and I'm so glad I went with her! Carole was super flexible and handled everything like a pro. After my second fitting, I unexpectedly lost a lot of weight because I was sick for five weeks with COVID and pneumonia. Losing weight in between fittings is usually a big no-no, but Carole took it all in stride. Luckily, she hadn't started the alterations yet and adjusted the timeline to make it all work. By the final fitting, my dress fit like a glove--it looked incredible and made me feel so confident on my wedding day. Not only is Carole professional and insanely talented, but she's also just a genuinely great person. She was so kind, patient, and understanding throughout the entire process. Carole, thank you so much for everything--you're the best!

Carole is incredible. She is so sweet and does such amazing work. I went with her to alter my wedding dress because I wanted someone who had worked with my specific brand's fabric. We pre-set all of our dates and the try-ons were always so quick and efficient. The pricing was extremely reasonable as well. She even put in multiple points for my bustle which got some big props from my wedding coordinator and allowed for much more durability. Would absolutely recommend Carole for your alteration needs!

Believe this was the 1st appointment December 2021.

Before my appointment, I had a video call with Sandra, the owner, to chat about what I was looking for so she could have some dresses already pulled for me to try on when I went in. The dress I purchased was the second one I tried on, but I still had fun trying on all of the other dresses. Sandra clearly has a keen eye for design, and there were dresses to fit pretty much any style in the shop. I loved that each dress is limited production, so I knew my dress would be unique! Sandra made me feel so comfortable and beautiful throughout my whole appointment. When my wife went for her appointment, it was her first experience shopping for a wedding dress and she was very anxious going in. I had already purchased my dress and Sandra made sure my dress was nowhere in the shop so we wouldn't accidentally purchase the same dress! But of the three dresses I pulled from the rack, one of them was my dream! The staff was also wonderful, encouraging, and helpful. My dress had a few things I was concerned about from an alteration perspective, and one staff member was able to explain to me the different ways a seamstress could work with the dress to make it fit as desired. The dress was only $600 and I got a comment from my sister that it didn't look like a $600 dress--it's a much nicer dress that was available for a significant discount! I will note that a couple other dresses I tried on did have more significant quality issues than the one I bought (e.g. broken zippers, lace pulling away). I certainly wouldn't say it's a guarantee that you'll find the right dress here. But it's absolutely worth a try! I wanted the beautiful dress, just like all brides, but the thought of spending thousands for a dress I would wear for one day felt so strange too. I wanted the perfect dress, but without the weight on my conscience that I was not only spending a lot but being unsustainable or wasteful. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I found Bride for a Cause, a shop that aligned with my ideals and also felt far more wallet-friendly. The shop is bright and welcoming, the appointments laid-back (and a little DIY), and the staff very friendly and helpful. Most importantly, though, Brides for a Cause is a perfect trifecta of affordable, sustainable, and charitable -- which made this bride feel great. They collect donations of used or sample dresses, sell them at a deep discount, and then pass along the proceeds to a myriad of inspiring causes supporting women. I'll be honest, knowing that they would be limited to what was donated, I really went to say that I tried and with low hopes that they would be able to make my dress dreams come true. I was prepared to go back to a traditional shop. Instead, I walked out not only with my perfect dress, but with the knowledge that I was being sustainable and supporting great causes. And the $600 price tag did not hurt. I think my dress had not been worn previously, so it needed a bustle and other alterations, which turned out to be more complicated than expected. Still, even with all that, I ended up spending around $900 total on my dress -- well under just the starting price of a similar gown bought at a traditional shop. On top of that, the DIY nature of the shop (where you pick your own dresses off the rack versus having an attendant bring them to you), turned out to be a lot of fun for my sister, niece, and me! One piece of advice: I went to a traditional shop first to have an array of try-ons and hone in on my style preferences (with the expectation that I'd return if I didn't find a dress at Brides for a Cause). I'd highly recommend that to anyone, because it was great to have a professional help pinpoint things from the inspiration photos I'd brought, and then we were able to take notes on what we liked and didn't from the dresses I tried -- making it lot easier to go into Brides for a Cause and find something.

The shop itself is clean, very organized, and spacious. While open concept, each dressing area still feels private, which was nice. They had such a wide selection of dresses so even if you don't know what you're looking for, it'll be there! Plus there are various designers with different price ranges, so there's something for most people's budgets. I greatly appreciated that they kept my budget in mind when choosing dresses for me to try on. Now onto the best part - my stylist, Theresa. She is an absolute GEM of a human being. I called beforehand to confirm that they carried the style I wanted to try and she immediately knew what I was talking about, so you know the shop's stylists are on top of what's in their inventory. When I arrived, she was so nice and caring, making sure I was comfortable. We talked about what I was looking for, took a stroll around the shop to discuss some styles she had picked out for me beforehand, and gather some initial feedback on stuff. What I really appreciated was that she had actually tried on a couple of the styles she suggested to make sure they were petite friendly! I'm 5'0 with a longer torso and shorter legs and so my proportions can be tricky to style. Theresa had mentioned she was of similar build and took the care and time to make sure the styles she suggested to me were going to fit my frame! The actual trying on of dresses was so much more seamless than my other experiences. Yes, you will get up and personal with your stylist, but they help you get into the gown, clip it to your frame, and make sure it sits as best on your body as it can given the size differences. I didn't bring anyone to my appointment, so Theresa graciously offered to take pictures for me and she made sure I got the best lighting. She also took the time to walk me through how things would sit differently once it was in my size, so I got a better picture of the fit. There were so many beautiful dresses I tried on and some I didn't expect to love but did, but ultimately, I know my style and my likes incredibly well and ended up saying yes to the dress I had initially driven up for! Theresa and the rest of the a&bé team were so adorable in congratulating me and even though I had come to the visit alone, it felt like I had my besties with me. Theresa especially felt like a close friend and I cannot stress enough how much she MADE the appointment what it was - which was GREAT. If you take anything away from this post, please please PLEASE check out a&bé (even if it may be a drive for you). The experience itself is well worth it!

She listened to my preferences, what I like vs. don't like, areas of my body I wanted to accentuate vs. hide, and made the entire experience such a memorable part of my wedding planning process. Elizabeth took the time to curate different dresses for me to try on, took into consideration when I provided feedback, and was NEVER ever inserting her opinion for her own benefit. She also took into consideration my price range, and was always transparent about dresses being a couple hundred dollars over my budget. Two of my best friends were also present (one in person and the other was on FaceTime), and she even got a tripod for my phone to be placed on when trying dresses so he could see everything better! Customer service 10/10. I also appreciate how beautiful Elizabeth made me feel, complimenting and hyping me up, which is what I needed for a semi-timid bride. Thank you Elizabeth and a&bé for the amazing experience, and for helping me find my perfect dress! a&bé corporation - give Elizabeth all the flowers and raises!

Tayler was my bridal stylist at my first appointment and she is just an amazing and sweet person overall. She is very attentive to details, asks questions on what you like/dislike, and is very patient as well. I can tell Tayler enjoys what she does and she is very good at it! I eventually went to try on 2 other bridal shops and tried on at least 20 dresses at this point but I could not stop thinking about the dress that I fell in love with. I kept in contact with Tayler and informed her I would like to come back to potentially get my dream dress! Eventually, I made my way back to Bride to Be Couture and Tayler assisted me again. I tried on the dress again and knew this was my dress I wanted to get married in. The overall service at this shop is above other bridal shops I visited to be honest. The atmosphere is beautiful and everybody is very friendly and helpful. I cannot wait to come back to pick up my dress! Thank you again Bride to Be couture and Tayler!

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Ellis Blake! Sam (shoutout to my girl!)…read morewas so incredibly calming, and accommodating. She made sure every one of my guests felt included, but made sure to never pressure me with decisions and always ensured I felt calm, and heard. This was my third shop, and I was exhausted from the two stops I had already had, but this was such a breath of fresh air. The selection was amazing, the price point was better than I could have anticipated, but the service was what stood out to every one of us. I'd recommend any bride in the area (or outside of it - worth the trip!) to stop by. Truly the highlight of my dress shopping experience, and I'm so glad this is where I said yes to the dress!

Supporting character(s) experience…read more.. As the Big Sis and Maid of Honor (MOH), it was one of my duties to help an 'out-of-town' bride secure bridal shop appointments in Sacramento. This was the first stop on our second day (not consecutive) in the hunt for the perfect dress. Grace and White Bridal came highly recommended by a handful of friends, so we had to make an appointment here. I tried to make the appointment for the bride, but due to the questions asked, I couldn't and didn't want to answer them. They were personal and preferential, so I actually had to have her make the appointment. Also, this is the ONLY bridal shop in Sacramento that actually makes a bride pay for their first appointment. It cost $30 for the appointment, so I guess we paid for our own champs ;) And to note, which their website notes, the $30 fee will go toward your dress if you find one there. We were kindly greeted by our sales associate (SA). I wish I could remember her name. I do remember I loved her dress and she easily shared where she bought it and how recently -- yes, I did go buy it :) Back on track, there was a group of us - bride, MOTB, MIL, MOH, Cousin, and a bridesmaid surprised us by joining shortly after we sat down. The SA was extremely kind and offered us glasses of champs while we waited for the bride to try on her first dress. I will say, she was understaffed, because she was dealing with what seemed like an emergency on the phone and trying to service us while we were there in person. She did the best she could, but I believe it would have been a better experience if she wasn't having to multitask. The brick interior is welcoming with tons of fresh light from the many windows. It is very inviting and feels extremely clean. The interior decor is very similar to many bridal shops, but still super cute. Fun and eclectic furniture, but open and inviting. If you are a bride looking to try on 20+ dresses, this might not be your spot. It's a small, local bridal shop. They have more than 20 dresses, but their inventory is on the smaller side. They have lots of beautiful options, in varying price ranges, but they are only as big as they can be. They also had a 'sale' rack with dresses that were as-is and 'last ones' available. Might be of interest if you are cost sensitive. Overall, it was a nice experience. Not our favorite, but nothing was bad at all. We enjoyed our time there, even though the bride did not find her dress there. Bridal dress shopping is surely an experience...

The shop itself is adorable, and the overall experience was wonderful from start to finish. It is rare these days to find a business with such outstanding customer service, friendliness, and sincerity. I highly recommend them and will absolutely return.

Before coming in, I called to make sure they had experience sewing patches on a military uniform…read more They said yes, that they did it all the time. My husband brought in his uniform, patches, and printed out the specific instructions for them to use. I go to pick his uniforms up a few days later and my husband tells me that it's been done wrong. They sewed his name patch ON the pocket flap when the instructions specified that it belongs ABOVE the pocket flap. No branch of the military has the name patch sewn on the actual flap which led me to believe that they in fact did not have experience with military uniforms. They also cut the name patch incorrectly so it's no longer usable. We had to order new ones which cost $20, and they were back ordered. Great. We ended up getting a partial refund from the business, but were not reimbursed for the name patches. I'm sure this business does well with dresses and suits, but I'd probably go somewhere else for military uniforms, especially when you brought in a physical copy of instructions on where the patches go, that they didn't even look at.

After multiple attempts at communicating with those preferred vendors, there was 1 viable choice, but it was overpriced for what I needed and she ended up leaving me hanging on appointment availability anyway. Once that happened I took it upon myself to go on Yelp and find alternative solutions. Out of the next 2-3 choices I ventured out to, Nadia was the one I opted for because she was straight forward and was the only one who offered me 2 different bustle options - American (over) bustle or ballroom (under bustle). As a bonus, she was also 1/3 of the price of the wedding dress boutique's preferred vendor! Communications were all through Yelp messaging - clear cut for scheduling. Make sure for your fittings you always bring the shoes you'll be wearing for an accurate hem, etc. I opted for the ballroom bustle and Nadia numbered the attachments. During a subsequent fitting I had the MOB and MOH accompany me so they knew what to expect for doing the bustle on the day of the wedding. Forms of payment accepted are cash, card, and money sharing apps - I opted for Zelle.
