He substituted materials in building my home from what he said he would use in his contract. He did very sloppy work and many things did not meet building codes. In spite of that, he managed to get a certificate of occupancy and pass inspections. He also never filled out a change of contractor form when he took over my job and in the end refused to provide me with a home warranty. My house developed a severe mold and formaldehyde problem and I developed asthma and a Lupus like autoimmune condition. I lost the CO to my home and I had to move out. I spent from July 2009 until just recently in litigation with this man. Besides paying a mortgage on a house I couldn't live it, I had to pay to live somewhere else. Bill Scharfenberg, the owner of Beacon Homes, is a disgrace. He should not be building homes and he should not, with his bad morals, hold the public position that he holds. Just this Monday, Beacon Homes moved my moldy home to a new site (103 Green Island Road in Toms River) to sell to someone else. Buyer beware. You are buying a used piece of garbage. I lost my life savings in that house as well as tons of money on legal fees fighting him in a corrupt Ocean County Court system that he is a part of. I am now bankrupt and living in a rental. So much for a dream home.

I live in Holiday City West, in Toms River NJ. I have tried getting construction help, most of the time no one replies or replies but doesn't show up. Porch King, replied to my request immediately, came out and reviewed the roof installation and gave me a very acceptable price. I was told the project would start in about three weeks, to my surprise it was moved up to a week. I was given a 9 to 9:30 am start time, and they were on the job at 9:15 am. It was expected to take a day or a day and a half, the whole job was completed in 6 hours. The installation looks great, the area was totally cleaned up. All the workers and the boss were polite and friendly. I would recommend this company to anyone that wants a professional job and a reasonable price. Two things to note: The site for Porch King claims they accept Credit Cards, they do not anymore.
