Been in the trades 28 years and was in the middle of renovating my personal home. Went over everything with him and my concerns with my new floors going in ($7600). He said not to worry, he'll cover the new floors. He was taking the deposit and went downhill immediately. Came home from work early on day 1 primer. All the cabinet doors were off as he stated except the lazy susan door. Painter claimed hinges were broke, it was 2 loose screws that i tighten with a screwdriver. They never took that door off, also didn't remove the faces of my 7 drawers, which is a whopping total of 14 screws. So the lazy Susan door and drawers were painted in place lol. The guy had a few drop clothes scattered not covering the floors, that have been in less than a week! Drop clothes are for carpet, paper layment for hard surfaces. I offered to cover the floors, which costs $13, but he said not to worry. While rolling the primer on, little white splatter dots on my new dark wood flooring awesome . The guy there insisted he can't see it, but I can easily see it. He cleaned, left and I continued to find more paint on my floors. The guy came back, clearly annoyed and even said I was "busting his balls." Joking or not, you don't say to customers/homeowners lol. My wife came home, went into the garage and saw boogered paint, puddled and drips on the first coat of primer on the doors, same with the drawers and lazy door which painted in place. After getting paint on our new floors, of course we're going to inspect even more. Sent Mike pictures, immediately called me up and was extremely rude, nasty and unprofessional. Talked to my wife like a 5 year old. He said they'll sand everything, and those paint defects will be removed.
Day 2 a new guy showed up with the same guy from day 1. He was professional and attentive. I asked the original guy if I should remove my microwave, which is only 2 screws so he had easier access to paint the side of the cabinet above the range. Told again not to worry about it, they'll handle it. That evening, we decided to remove it because 3 inches under the microwave was exposed, and needed to be primed and painted. Keep in mind, primer has to sit 24 hours, and they already had 2 coats of paint on by the end of day 2. At the end of the day, we still saw paint drips, little puddles of it sitting in odd spots and primer boogers now painted over with 2 coats of finish paint. At this point, we just wanted them to hurry up and get it over with.
Day 3 they were done fairly early and it was a one foot out the door situation. I told them we'll make the final payment when my wife gets home from work, as this was her project. Mike once again got nasty, changed his voice to I guess sound like me and be a smart ass. In my 28 years working with homeowners directly, I never talked down, argue and anything with the homeowners.
Now inspecting after they left. They forgot to put the little rubber pads behind some of the doors causing them to stick to the fresh paint, ripped the paint completely off the cabinet. He's trying to blame us, but they won't take responsibility. Didn't cover appliances or my new floors! Treated my home like it was an apartment.
Paint on my stainless steel range, dishwasher, microwave 2 inches wide across the entire top, and splatter all over my stainless steel refrigerator. There's no excuse .
Drips, puddles, chips, paint on my glass cabinet door, paint on a few handles, i guess when the did touch up. Still finding paint primer splatter on my week old floors. This was a joke of an experience. Supposed to be professional! Here's some fabulous pictures.
