My wife and I just celebrated our 5th anniversary here, and every aspect of the trip was lovely!…read more The riverside room we got in the lodge had an incredible view of the Clark Fork. The French-pressed coffee in the room paired perfectly with the morning view from our patio. The complimentary snacks, wine, and robes were the icing on the cake. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was well-lit, kept cool and dark, and the bathroom floor was heated! The pools themselves were amazing, with varying degrees to soak in. The bathrooms and locker rooms were clean. Plenty of seating, both in the sun and in the shade. They kept water available all day, and the drink/snack stand was also nice to have. The views there are hard to beat! We cannot wait to come back, even in the winter. As for the food, we ate at the main restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. Each time, the food and service were excellent. Definitely a new go-to for my wife and I!

The natural surroundings are stunning, particularly the charming cabins located right by the river. It's a nice setting for those looking to disconnect and enjoy the scenery. The food was another high point--delicious and well-prepared and good portions. However, the one significant downside was the comfort of the room; we found the beds to be very uncomfortable, which definitely impacted our rest, we both woke up with achy backs. If you're visiting, the riverside cabins are nice for the charm and views, but you may want to keep the firm mattresses in mind.

Falls Motel - We found hard wood floors in a couple rooms, so we refinished them. We think they look great!

The short walk across the bridge over to the dam is an absolute must and only takes a couple minutes. There is another trail system nearby for those of us that like to do a few more miles. It is absolutely gorgeous and there were no other hikers/joggers that day (although I'm sure the word will get out). We stayed in the two room suite and I would highly recommend that when available as it has it's own deck also. The room was clean, the staff was fantastic!

The hot water did not come on for long enough that I called the desk, went back and then it started to get warm, finally hot. On thvalve the difference between cold and very hot was about an 1/8 inch. Finally got it set right and had a nice shower. The toilet is in a corner where my knees were on the facing wall. One bolt on the toilet seat was loose, probably since you have to slide on from the side. The door tended to stick, a smaller person might have needed help. The sign said updated rooms and some effort has been made but lots of the room is still 20 year old hardware. Bed was good, good cable, quiet room slept well. Tried to complain in person, my preference but no one was up yet.

There was a fishing tournament we were in and the two campsites outside our room had some all nighter parties. Not their fault but it was noisy. The bar has good pizza and great drinks. Some of the cabins are older than others, but they all have their own unique charm, no cookie cutters used here. Restaurant, bar, gift shop, casino and ICE CREAM shop all located on the property. What more do you need? I highly recommend the huckleberry and the moose tracks ice cream, and just all of the ice cream, so good. The staff I encountered on my 3 day stay were all extremely kind and went out of there way to help with anything. I'm told the resort has a new owner (s?), who seems to have made some great updates to the property, especially in the restaurant. Tasty food, they have a new Trager, which I hear is a big deal for Barbecue. One thing that could make this spot more perfect would be a beach area. Resort is pretty high up from the river, there are incredible views, but water access isn't as easy. They do have a dock which is great for launching your kayaks, boats, etcetera, but not the best for just swimming and hanging beside the water. Just down the road, a 3 minute drive, is a boat launch/dock/park picnic area. Across the highway (a small Montana highway) is a small grocery store with deli that makes breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and regular sandwiches. If you're looking for coffee, I believe they open a little earlier than the motel's restaurant. There are also two other bar/restaurant options nearby all within walking distance. Also a great wedding venue, I attended a wedding here years ago that was stunning! The Clark Fork is known for fishing, so if you've got an avid fisherman in your life, take them to Trout Creek or anywhere in the surrounding area, they won't be disappointed. If you're just looking for a quiet, low-key getaway in small town Montana, the last best place, Lakeside Motel and Resort is a great option.

It's a peaceful lodge tucked away in a corner of the property that has a serene porch that we sat out on each night with views of the mountains. The room cleanliness was impeccable - much cleaner than any chain hotel I've stayed at. The housekeeping staff even left hand written notes for us, and went above and beyond in making sure all of the guests needs were not just met but exceeded when we needed help. You will not meet a more pleasant front desk staff who was genuinely excited to talk to you each day and answer any of your questions! The drive to the entrance of west glacier was maybe 5 minutes - perfect for quick access to the park. 2) We did the fly fishing all day tour which I would highly recommend. I would be amiss without mentioning our guide Chaney by name. He reached out to us ahead of time and was extremely kind and flexible - adapting to any requests I had to make the trip personalized. And he was amazing during the actual guide! He had us laughing, smiling and learning so much throughout the whole day. And he did it all while rowing us down rapids!! His knowledge of the local wildlife was impressive and you can tell he truly cares deeply about what he does. Not to mention the beauty of the river itself - it would have been worth it to go just for the views, and getting to fish while doing it was even better! All in all - exceptional place, I plan to re-book for my next visit in the area.
