There were bugs, crickets and ants. Trash on the floor, sticky countertop and desk top. Room smelled musty. Continental breakfast consisted of waffles and cereal, orange juice and coffee, no fruit, yogurt, eggs, bacon or any other breakfast items as had been described when reservations were made and upon arrival. T.V. was good as was water pressure at the sink and shower. Beds were comfortable but soft, not firm. The not so good was the overall condition of the property. It looks like it was completely renovated probably in the past 15 years but has been allowed to decline. All surfaces and fixtures are worn and damaged. It seems to be clear that the current owner and management are way too far over their heads in taking care of a motel. We would not stay here again or recommend the property to anyone else. read more

"I don't want your type staying here!" After driving 500+ miles I was excited to check into this highly rated establishment and crash for a few hours. The bell in the lobby was as useful as the smell. Eventually someone came to help. I asked what the checkout policy was and how soon they would need to know in advance for checking out a day early, as I did not know if I would be driving home Thursday night or Friday morning. I was told that I would need to contact the online booking website I used. Well, I don't use an online booking site, I use a professional travel agent/company through my work because I travel 30-50% of the year... and explained that usually I simply check with the hotel policy and notify the front desk before the cutoff, if I will be leaving early. She then tells me 24 hours. I take the key and head to my room. (26). Right behind me are a couple of vans full of teenagers and I hear the adult in the group notify the desk that they have 4 rooms reserved. I hold the door for the last few boys to enter and head to my truck for the luggage. I walk into my room and the temperature was at least 90. No fan or AC running so I head straight for the ac under the window and crank it to crank it on high... thinking I will go eat dinner before taking my nap, it will be cool when I return. I hunt down the light switch (behind a mirror by the front door) and to my surprise the walls look to be freshly patched with plaster and unpainted. (The smell is getting stronger and I can't place it). I use the bathroom (500 miles remember?) and plop down on the bed to stretch my back. I suddenly hear talking from the room behind my head. Then the adjoining door is shaken and someone tries to open it. For like 2 full minutes. Then I hear talking from the other side of the room (I'm surrounded!). As I get up to leave, someone tries adjoining room door again and the door into my room at the hall. No knocking just trying to open it. That's it! I head to the lobby and start ringing the bell again. This time a little more anxiously. The same lady comes and I explain that I would like to be as far as I can be from the teenagers. She offers me room 22. I was in 26 and they booked 4 rooms, seems too close. I then mention that my room has holes in the wall that have not been painted. She said the room was just remodeled and I explain that it is not finished. Which she disagrees. I ask her to come with me to the room and she refuses. I ask if room 22 is also "finished". This seemed to hit a cord... I begin to call my booking agent and explain that I am going to see if anything else in town is available. She begins to tell me the reservation is non refundable. But she just told me I would have 24 hours? I ask her how far it is to the next town and she got mad and told me that she was going to cancel my reservation and give me a 100% refund because- she didn't want my type to stay in her hotel. The husband sits and the desk as she storms away and asks me if I would like a room upstairs... what the? They could have moved me up stairs and away from the noisy kids? I told him no thank. "She doesn't want my kind staying here- so I don't think my stay will get any better at this point" he sighs like he understands and hands me a "$0.00" receipt/cancelation which I sign and leave. Dexter Inn is by far the most disgusting deplorable Motel I've ever stayed at in my entire life!! They provide a microwave an fridge but your not allowed food in the rooms it brings bugs we was told .. The nice pool table they show on there website doesn't have but 3 balls to use .. they advertise a room at 56 dollars a night but it actually comes to 86 dollars read more

Dexter INN is amazing! In November of 2018 my family experienced a house fire. We stayed at the Dexter Inn from mid November until February 1st. Our experience there was great. They did everything they could to make our stay there as comfortable as possible. I would definitely recommend staying here if you need a place. The staff is friendly, management is amazing and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Thank you so much Dexter Inn for the great stay! If my house ever catches fire again I'll me sure to stay there lol read more

Dexter Inn is by far the most disgusting deplorable Motel I've ever stayed at in my entire life!! The heat did not work. Thermostat was set on 89 degrees and only blew cold air and smells like something was burning. Microwave continue to short out. No hot water to take a shower. Dirty filthy towels and bed sheets. Shower was rested and holes in the ceiling. When I requested a new room I was denied. I requested my money back was also denied. Although I showed the assistant manager Gina the room and all of the issues . she stated to me the room would be closed down until all the repairs were done on the room. But still refused a refund! I would have rather slept in my car than to stay there for the one night. read more

We were in the middle of a stressful cross-country move and were passing through Dexter after 10 hours of driving with two dogs. Originally we had a reservation with the motel across the street but it looked FAR too dangerous even though it was only $20 cheaper. My husband completely refused to even walk in so we drove across the way back to Dexter Inn, who were more than happy to give us a room for a night. They are pet-friendly for a relatively small fee and seemed a lot safer, catering more to travelers and truckers than rif-raff. The room was clean and comfortable enough and there is a little breakfast to nibble on in the morning. The rooms are a little run down and are in need of rennovation but over all, the place is clean and safe for where it is. read more

I travel for work and stay in different hotels all the time. I must say that this hotel is one of the nicest I've stayed in for the age and price. The fine folks here are extremely friendly, everything is neat and clean, there are no lingering odors of smoke (even though there are smoking rooms and ashtrays in the common areas), and the linens are all clean. The room features a nice tv, fridge, and clean restroom. The bed is comfortable as well. I am very pleased and would recommend to friends to stay here if they are passing through and need an affordable nights sleep. Two thumbs up Dexter inn! read more

Stayed here in early June, after a long hot day of riding from San Diego I got into my room, the room was disgusting but I was tired and just wanted to be inside, thenroom smelled of something I couldn't identify. After about 1 hour I noticed something crawling on me and it was ants, they were everywhere! i went to the lady at the front desk and she came down and sprayed and wiped up what she could then I went to sleep now smelling bug spray, when I awoke I found ants had infiltrated all my gear and clothes, I had to unpack and shake out everything. I went back to front desk now a different lady and she told me they have a real ant problem in all the rooms. I left my number with her and the next day I got a call from a man claiming to be the owner, he said " we have a real ant problem on the lower floor rooms and next time he would get me upstairs" I got news for him, there won't be a nextime! I don't know how this filthy place could have gotten any good reviews I assume they are all friends of the owner! thanks for the $3 police officer discount though! read more

Terrible. Smell, service. The place hasn't seen a touch up in many years. Owner/Operators are milking the uninformed. Best I can say about this place is the water pressure in the shower. Not expecting 5 star accommodations, but come on people. I recommend finding another place to stay in Dexter, MO. You have choices and I recommend exploring them. read more

I have been staying at the dexter for the past 4 snow goose seasons. They are amazing people who try their very best to accommodate A large number of smelly goosemen. Every year I come back there are numbers of renovations, proof they care about their customers. 10/10 would stay here. read more
