YES - KITCHENS! Their creations are absoluty divine! I was convinced to use their services simply by what they have on display. I thought we could buy what they were showing, bring it home and put it in, but then we talked to Debbie... OMG what an experience! She came to our house, measured the space, and asked us what features we wanted to put in our own kitchen, then drew it all out on paper. The price of the quote she was able to provide us was very comparable to what other companies are offering even though this kitchen is all hand made, but it was also soooo much more - begining with the fact that it was built out of solid wood instead of pressboard or melamine. Add to that the many features built into it, which puts this kitchen way over and above what anyone else is offering! This kitchen MAKES the house! Put it this way: where most kitchen design companies and box store cabinet providers charge for any improvements over the shape of your boxy cabinets, the Amish store will build cupboards that fit in your kitchen, and will include so called upgrades such as that little shelf below the sink to hold rubber gloves, sponges, and your jewellery while you wash dishes; a spice drawer with shelves in it; pot drawers; recycling containers; up and down slats to hold your bakeware; and a roll-out cutting board and anything else you can think of. If you are considering kitchen designs - whether to upgrade your current kitchen, or for a new home build - I strongly urge you to compare with what the Amish Store has to offer. And PS: If by chance you have NOT heard of them, I strongly suggest you make a trip out to see them - even if you're not looking for a kitchen or furniture! Balderson is an enjoyable drive out in the country. Why not make a day of it? Take in the cheese shop, grab a bite to eat in the cafe, or go to the local tea room. Last spring, I sent an e-mail through the store's "contact us" with an inquiry and received no reply. So, in the summer, I drove to Balderson and spoke with a sales person who, at the time, was unable to give me a price on the table and chairs that I wished to order. She took my name and e-mail address in order to send the information to me. Well, I have never received an e-mail or telephone call. I am surprised by the lack of respect for a potential customer. I had planned to buy multiple rooms of furniture but given the lack of respect I have been shown, I won't be returning. I'll take my business to a store which shows some respect for its customers.

They have new 'reproduction' items, but they also will bring in re-purposed, new and vintage finds. (I found the most extraordinary lace knit crib blanket in there on one visit - was thrilled!) The tolerances are nice and tight, which makes for a good solid and sturdy chair. However, the reason I gave it only three stars is because of an issue with one of the chairs. The wood was damaged, even before they applied their finish to it and there was damage during shipping. I was told a replacement would be sent out in a few weeks. Five months later, I finally received the replacement part. None of the holes were pre-drilled, as all other pieces of furniture were. As tight as the tolerances for assembly are, having everything pre-drilled is mission-critical. I was told that they couldn't do that, but they expected me to make sure everything is aligned properly and then drill my own holes. I asked about returning the product and was told too much time has elapsed, which I believe is laughable because they didn't send me the final component until a few days before. So I have one chair that is not as they advertise on their website, nor will they refund my money.

New Oak Tree (Carleton Place, Ontario)…read more Given the sexy TV commercials, my wife and I were excited to make our first visit to the 'New Oak Tree' store located in Carleton Place. We drove all the way from Ottawa hoping to buy a new set of dining room furniture. Although the store wasn't busy, sales staff initially avoided greeting us. Two male staff in a different part of the store stared strangely at me and my wife, like they were sizing us up. Eventually, a salesman came over, but he only aggressively demanded to know where exactly in their lot I had parked my car. After telling him, he suggested I "check over" the furniture and then abruptly walked away. While my wife and I were shopping, I just happened to look out the window and noticed their salesman checking out my car in the parking lot. When another salesman approached me, he was all business and very high pressure; hoping no doubt to make a quick sale, like I was ordering lunch at a fast-food restaurant. I did notice that some furniture on display was badly damaged and seemed to be poorly made. Looking at a hutch the door wouldn't open, the latch was broken and not properly lined-up. Also, a different salesman or possibly a supervisor took a phone call during our visit. I couldn't help but overhear and was shocked at how loud, rude and aggressive this employee was with an upset customer who had phoned the store. Given my unpleasant experience, I will never go back to the New Oak Tree and can't recommend this business to anyone. I would have given a rating with no stars, but this isn't possible when submitting a review.

It's incredibly frustrating to invest so much in a sofa that just can't hold up to normal use. They delivered to my home and I found the 3 seater faulty wood. So, I did not take it. they took it back and then delivered again a faulty one. I did not take this also. then they said "come to our store, we will open the sofa for you, then you can check, we will deliver after that". I went to their store today (Saturday), checked and found the sofa faulty again. They told me to go their again on coming Wednesday. I live 35 km far from the store. its wasting of my time, harassing me a lot.. I will not buy anything from here for sure.. Is there any authority so I can complain against them? they dont seem to be honest businessmen..
