From the gift shop you then enter into a couple of small rooms and a hallway with a lot of old military aviation displays, models, pictures, etc. From there you have two hangars to visit. One hangar has several aircraft inside where both civilian and military planes that appeared to me flyable with some of those were being worked on. The other hangar has other aircraft inside that look un flyable but are being renovated or just stored. I believe this organization may be affiliated with the Commemorative Air Force and there were several aircraft in the first hangar that looked like they were in good shape and ready to fly at air shows. This museum gives the visitor an opportunity to watch mechanics serving and rebuilding planes. I would budget 30-45 minutes to visit here.

A clever observer will note that the two business have different addresses. Hours are 11AM to 3PM, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Keller Station House Museum is across the street from the Wild Rose Heritage Center, which also lists itself as a museum So last week was the first I knew of the Keller Station House Museum. I went to a presentation at the Keller Public Library, given by Rollin Phipps. It was very interesting. I learned of general Texas railroad history, how this area came to have a train stop, and how the city of Keller got its name. Before I start on the next section of this review, I just want to say I am going to pop over to 136 Bates (later today) and grab a couple quick pictures so you (and yelp admins) can see that the Station House, and observe that it is not the same as the Heritage Center. Here is some info I received from that presentation (written by Rollin Phipps, used with permission): "To recognize the importance importance of the railroads to Keller, the Old Town Keller Foundation ( www.otkf.org ) decided to establish a museum displaying artifacts from the era of railroading. The foundation purchased a building across the street from the Wild Rose Center and began collecting train related items. In October, 2017 the museum officially opened to the public. The collection includes an Interurban Wait Station, a water tower, railroad uniforms and hats, a model train display, and various signs and crossing lights. The museum exhibits items which are of interest to both the young and hold. Even though the original Keller depot was torn down years ago, photos of that building remind us that the growth of the city has been tied to the men and women who worked on the railroads. Creating the Station House Museum took a little luck, some imagination, and finding the right display materials. In the early days of the museum, curators contacted rail fans from around the United States. One item was purchased from Minnesota, it required driving 1000 miles to get it to Keller. Another maintenance vehicle was shipped from Houston. Not all efforts have been successful. In December, the museum tried to acquire a caboose from a city near Waco. But after lengthy discussions the caboose remains in its home city. Some artifacts are extremely rare, for example there are only two remaining Interurban Wait Stations in Texas. During these last few months, the Keller curators have made friends with several railroad museums around the state." Bottom line: A very cool addition to Old Town Keller, especially as OTK continues to grow.

I visited Haas Moto Museum with my family last weekend, when I was in Dallas for a few days. It was…read morea surprise hit with all of us. There were six of us, and I wouldn't describe any of us as motorcycle people. I decided we should visit the museum mostly due to its location (by where we had brunch) and because I always want to visit a place I haven't been before when I visit home (since I've been to most of the places on the beaten path, we now often get surprised by gems in the city that are off the beaten path). But wow. We were really blown away. So what is it? The Haas Moto Museum is a motorcycle museum, and their museum's about page sums it up well: "The Haas Moto Museum was founded by the late Bobby Haas and his partner, Stacey Mayfield, with a singular vision: to elevate motorcycles beyond mere machines, showcasing them as rolling works of art. Bobby's creativity, passion and fearless curiosity shaped every corner of the museum, establishing it as one of the most unique motorcycle museums in the world." I may not know much about motorcycles, but I had a great time wandering through the museum. Some of the custom motorcycles were incredible. And the historical motorcycles (all labeled with their manufacturer, year, and additional information)? I loved walking chronologically through them. The staff also made our visit even more wonderful. The Facilities Manager Brent and the Museum Engineer Chris were amazing; between the two of them, they gave us a great explanation of the museum and its collection, walked around with us a bit and pointed out some special pieces/motorcycles, and showed us around the shop where they work on custom motorcycles. The facility is also great - down to the little shop and weirdly great bathrooms they have in the building. They even have an area where you can enjoy a complimentary K-cup coffee or tea while watching a document about Bobby Haas. If you love motorcycles, I can't recommend Haas Moto Museum enough. But the surprise of our visit was that I also recommend it to people who don't care much for or about motorcycles at all. The motorcycles are beautiful - even to an uneducated motorcycle novice like me. We spent way more time here than we had expected to - because we were enjoying ourselves so much. It was one of the best surprises of my visit home. Check it out!

Highlights for me were the Orson Welles' car, the story of his War of the Worlds radio broadcast, old Bibles, flintlocks, spears, and Hollywood props. When we thought the tour was almost over Stephanie led us into the vault - where many of the more sensitive relics are stored. At one point Glenn Beck even stepped into the vault to say, "Hi." Our tour took 1 hour 45 minutes! It was a wonderful experience.

Even with that I looked at and read everything. I was there an hour and 15 minutes on the first floor. Lining two stairways are framed horse themed scarves from Hermes of France. The building is accessible with no front steps. There is a large parking lot that is $6 for two hours. Take a ticket from the machine. Pay on your way out. Admission to the museum is $10. I used my reciprocal membership from a museum in Ohio to get in free.

It was easy to get to, and there was plenty of parking. I really liked the sculptures outside and around the building. Make sure to take a picture with the giant boot outside the front door. The museum inside is gorgeous. It is very clean and easy to navigate. There is a fee per person to enter. The gorgeous dresses, saddles, boots, hats, and other pieces of history on display were amazing. I thought the museum was very informative and good for all ages. I like the interactive areas like designing your out boots or horses on the giant screens. I also really liked the photo booth as a keepsake for visiting the museum that you can text to yourself.
