What a great experience I had with these guys. On Wednesday, I ended up at their store to buy a handgun I had seen online they had in stock. It was a gun I had been wanting for a while with a red dot sight factory installed. Their price was reasonable; there are not a lot of great deals out there given the current climate and demand in Aug 2020. The purchase was smooth, quick, and the employee who helped me (Jordan, I think) was friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions, as I had never used a red dot sight before. The store was clean, well stocked, and had plenty of things to interest most "gun people." Nothing extraordinary happened, just a nice, positive day at the gun store. A couple of days later when I took out the gun to get familiar with the red dot sight, I found that while the sight lights up and is bright, the button that dims the sight has no effect. So today, Saturday, I went back by the store to see if they could give me any insight on what I might be doing wrong. This is where the five star rating comes in. The same employee who sold me the gun on Wednesday was there, and asked how he could help. I explained the situation, and he quickly took out the handgun, and attempted to duplicate the problem. Sure enough, he also could not get the dot to dim. He got a second employee to look at it, and meanwhile, he went online to research the problem. He found that a possible issue could be the battery. The two guys then literally went all over the store trying to find the right battery size (it was not a typically size), and would not stop until they had found one in another product. Meanwhile, they were making arrangements for me to see the gunsmith at the sister-store ten minutes away in Grapevine to see if he could resolve the issue. But, once the battery was replaced, it worked as it was supposed to work. I would not have thought the battery was the issue because it would light up so brightly, but that is exactly what it needed. They could have easily told me they didn't know what was wrong, and I would have been left with shipping it to the manufacturer and waiting weeks to use the gun I just purchased. Instead, they did research, tried several potential ways to resolve the issue, and found a solution. All the while they were friendly, engaging, and professional. I was not familiar with this store before this experience. It's a little bit of a drive from my house, but they have earned a repeat customer in me. Thanks so much for the great customer service. I have been a customer for a while, and wanted to brag on one of the associates, C'eaton. Excellent experience dealing with him, and while talking red dot optics, I mentioned how I have issues with some due to astigmatism. Before I could even finish what I was describing, he selected an optic, and said "same here, but this one works!" Sure enough, it did. I ended up selecting another optic and mount for purchase however, I appreciated someone knowing what I was talking about, knowing the products offered, and their features. Because of my job I travel all around DFW and have seen pretty much every gun store. While this isn't the biggest gun store in the metroplex, they do have one of the biggest selections of pistols, rifles and shotguns. It seems like they are constantly updating their inventory and usually are able to get their hands on some of the newest stuff on the market, even when it's scarce. Lately, they've been having a ton of sales which it makes it really hard to not spend more money there. The staff is very knowledgeable and even though I've asked some dumb questions, I never felt like the staff were talking down to me to explain their answer. Decided to stroll into this gun store out a curiosity during an excursion to Texas, and was thoroughly impressed with the sheer amount of products they had-over 1,000 new and used guns from over 40 manufacturers, including Smith & Wessen, Colt, and Beretta to be exact. It's one well stocked gun shop! Beyond the huge inventory, DFW Shooting Sports also offers a full-stop gunsmithing service, including accurizing, bluing, stock work, cleaning, repair and restoration. You can also trade your old guns for cash (the store is licensed, so no worries about any shady business). Read a good amount of reviews, so I thought I would try them out for some gunsmith work. They are very friendly but when I wanted a trigger spring kit put on a handgun, it was over a two week process and they charged $40 for about 15 mins of work that, as I said, took two weeks to complete. I can say, friendly, yes but I am extremely disappointed in the time frame and cost for a trigger spring install. TRANSFERS: 1. They want you to wait a few days after UPS dropoff to pick up a transfer because they have to "check it in". 2. They will unpack and "inspect" your transferred guns before you even get to the store. 3. Your packing slip or receipt from the place you bought it will mysteriously not be in the box. They will claim it never came with your piece. 4. They will make copies of your DL and CHL for transfer even though there is no legal requirement to do so. 5. The fee is supposed to be $10 but will require you to pay sales tax even though it is considered a service and therefore not required. 6. If it is a unique piece, they may berate you into trying to sell it to them. 7. It will take you over an hour to get in and get out just for a transfer even with a CHL. **This was the experience of both myself and a friend in the same week.** BUYING AND SELLING: 1. If they see that you are uneducated in firearms and may have money, they will sell you an AR then tell you all the parts are inferior. 2. They will proceed to "help" you upgrade your new rifle with thousands of dollars in new parts. **This was witnessed by a friend of mine who was in the store picking up his transfer. "About 3500$ worth of crap" were his words.** 3. If you take your $700 fun in for sale or trade, they will lowball your offer to at least half of the value even though they were the original retailer. Way to reward return customers DFSS. DFW Shooting Sports lost two informed customers. Then again, I suppose that there are plenty of new suckers walking in every day. read more

I was simply amazed at the inventory and was sure I could find what I was looking for at their store. I spent well over an hour scouring the store for that perfect fit of a weapon. I go out to the country with friends and shoot clay pigeons and bottles for sport. I have been using my friends' guns for a while, so I decided to buy one of my own. I don't visit a lot of gun stores, so when visiting friends, we went to DFW Shooting Sports because they recommended. I went in thinking I wanted some sort of Baretta. I ended up with a Baretta Silver Pigeon. Some gun shops don't take female buyers seriously. I was not given that treatment there. What's up with the reviews from Florida and Louisiana? =/ Anyways....once I turned 21, I debated whether or not I should get a gun. I always been fascinated by weapons, but due to my mom, I was always hesitate. Besides for a few switch blades and a samurai sword, as well as a crossbow(what-you never know when the dead is going to walk, we'll be fighting the walking dead), I still lack a gun. I went to a couple of places here in Austin such as the Cash America Pawn, which has a couple of guns but their guns are quite expensive. And the lady over on the East. Riverside location was quite rude, and unpleasant so if anything...well, I shan't say. I then went to a place up the street of East Riverside and their gun supply seemed not very good when it came to quality. So as I went on the internet to talk to my best friend Google, I typed in gun shops in Austin, Texas and this store popped up. And though it would be a three hour drive to the gun shop, I decided to go for it. Me and a friend went to the gun shop and was quite impressed by the amount of guns available; it was astonishing. From hand guns, to rifles, to semis. You name it, they more than likely have it at the DFW. Another thing I noticed was they also sell and trade, so if someone is going on hard times, they can always get cash for it. Or put it on layaway. Layaway as in put a gun in, get money and then take it out in 30 days and it's yours and you get your money back. However, if you don't come back in 30 days then it's gone. They also have a on sight gun smith; so if you have a sick gun, you can take it to their doctor. Of course, with a fee, he'll fix it up for you. Not bad, I'd say, not bad. I first found this store by searching for gun shops that buy back guns. Google pulled up many gun stores and shooting ranges, I even found a gunsmith! It was all great and seemed perfect until I came across dfwshootingsports.com. After stumbling across their website, and after searching a few online review sites, I knew that it was the place for me. I took my guns to the store (a Benelli M2 and a few hand guns). The man at the store immediately greeted me and asked what he could do for me. I told him my story about searching the world for a place where I could make a few extra dollars for some of my guns that are just collecting dust. :side note: they even have a gunsmith, AND gave me a mini lesson on guns! Bought 2 rifle. The second rifle box was open. It was Zastava AK47. They sold me the bad and rejected one. Bolt is hard to pull or cock it. I was new to the guns and they cheated me. Initially, they said, they do not have one. After 15 minutes, they said, they have one and showed me the open box. Anyway, they agreed faulty as it was not reloading next ammo in the range. The range master said, it is defective. Cleaning and oiling did not help anything much. Still the bolt is hard. Asked them if they could buy it back. They said, $150 for $570 rifle. They agreed, they knowingly sold a bad gun. May be it was rejected by some one else and they had that for returning to manufacturer. read more

I was in the market for a S&W M&P 15 sport for the better part of a week. I called store after store and either the prices were too steep for what I was looking for or they simply didn't have the firearm in stock. Finally, I got to calling DFW Shooting Sports and dealt with Chris. Chris confirmed he had one in stock and then told me the price. After the price, HE asked what the price I wanted to pay was. I told him my number and he replied with "We want to earn your business so come on in and we'll talk." A few hours later, I showed up, was greeted immediately and was asked what I was looking for. I told him about the M&P 15 and he, without hesitation asked if I was the guy Chris was dealing with. I said yes and Chris came from the back, showed me the gun, and within 5 minutes, we were doing paperwork. We got to check out and Chris honored the price he told me over the phone. I got my cash out and was $7 dollars short (because of tax). Not a big deal, I busted out my debit card to pay for the rest. Chris told me to hold on and he then adjusted the agreed upon price a bit lower to reflect the exact amount of cash I had on hand so I didn't have to use my card. I didn't even ask him to. I never experienced that before. Needless to say, Chris and the DFW Shooting Sports staff DID earn my business that day and for the future. I have been searching for the perfect gun store for a few years. I think I may have finally found the best gunsmith in town if not the North Texas area. My gun collection has been lacking a cobalt blue steel colt 45 long barrel. Although I found a couple around town, they were.in less than pristine condition. DFW Shooting Sports had one that had never been fired and the price was 25% less than anyone else had and those had been fired. Additionally, I was amazed at the selection of rifles and other single and double barrel choices that were on display. Did I say the prices were great? The guy helping me had an excellent knowledge of firearms and actually told me a couple of facts about a gun I recently inherited and had some questions about. It turns out to be considerably more valuable than I anticipated. He showed me his shop for doing gunsmith work and it seemed to be well organized and very clean. If I need some gunsmith work done, this is the place. I told my girlfriend about what a good experience I had with them and she bought her first gun there.
