This is Review, very professional and saved my life. Renée Obrien I was rushed to Hoag hospital with Excruciating stomach pains. Within 20 minutes they called me to triage. From the MRI they knew my colon was ready to tear. ( My Mom died from this at 69 yrs old. I was told I had diverticulitis. I was told it's genetics. Dr.Dhaliwai was very professional and kind. During the Intake Interview, Dr. Dhaliwal may have been in a hurry, and I excused his abrupt manner and habit of interrupting, wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt as I was already there. He performed an Endoscopy on me at Hoag Hospital yesterday. When I was in Recovery, he phoned my wife from a few feet adjacent to my bed to brief her on the procedure, and my impression changed. My wife is a calm, intelligent woman, a retired health care provider educated at USC who taught high school science post retirement and understands medical information very clearly. She had questions, and knowing her I know that they were delivered respectfully and clearly. The Dr. repeatedly cut her off, sharply interrupting, and spoke to her in an extremely rude and disrespectful manner. He does not know how to talk to people and we definitely will not be back. read more

If I could give zero or negative stars I would gladly put that here a million times over. Where do I start? Let's just say this guy's advice/opinions he retracts and doesn't acknowledge - more like suit yourself for listening to me after you've followed with the treatment that he recommended which almost sounded like a magic pill for those who are desperate to live. He pretends to be empathetic and explains that he understands what you're going through by comparing your situation to a time he had with a close family member of his. It's a bunch of BS. Don't be fooled by your rose colored glasses that a physician who is a part of the Hoag Hospital and Greater Newport Physician network is a good and reliable doctor. If you want to be treated by a narcissistic, arrogant, supercilious (and any other comparable synonym imaginable) type of doctor then by all means come and see this doctor. Dr. Dhaliwal's delivery might not be for everyone, but his medicine should be! He is a true expert in his field and has helped me diagnose, treat and manage a chronic condition for years. There is no other GI I would go to - after having to change a few times over the years due to insurance changes, I say this after some awful experiences elsewhere. First rate! The front office staff is courteous and knowledgeable. The office is clean and neat, neither run down nor was it over the top. Dr. Dhaliwal's staff was able to work me in on an emergency basis. He was thorough and had an excellent bedside manner. He spoke with me in a manner which was equally informative, relaxed, and reassuring; not once was Dr. Dhaliwal patronizing as I have often found specialists to be. On top of his astounding level of compassion he is also funny. Dr. Dhaliwal coordinated with my primary physician, over the phone right then and there, in front of me no less! The experience we had with him in our moment of crisis was so good that we decided to continue to see him despite living all the way in Los Angeles. He has been able to successfully perform multiple balloon dilations on my husband who had previously had his esophagus torn by another Dr. who said his throat was way too narrow to make him a good candidate for the procedure. I'm in the middle of getting my esophagus expanded from 9mm to 18 mm and Dr. Dhaliwal and his office have been great. He has cut an amazing deal with local surgery centers that are significantly less than Hoag pricing. He's professional and on time all the time, almost no waiting time for me. I checked with another dr. and their first opening was 5 or 6 weeks down the road. The ladies in the office are super nice and accommodating. I've had 2 operations as well as an emergency endoscopy and still have 1 more to go and I couldn't feel better about all of the process, the diagnosis, the results and especially the treatment. I was referred to Dr. Dhaliwal through my regular doctor, Charles Andrews, and I love them both so much. Dr. Dhaliwal is wonderful and I find his humors quite funny as well. I love the ladies at the office as well as they are caring and friendly. Dr. Dhaliwal will save you from going through unnecessary treatments and paying additional cost for repetitive diagnosis/biopsy or taking any pills that you don't need. My point is that he will only give you something that you need. No more or no less. Dr. Dhaliwal loves to drag patients to his office multiple times and charge your insurance and charge you for copay for the unnecessary stuff. you have been to his office 4 times less than 2 months but again For giving a prescription he drags you to the office and charge your insurance and get the copay and hand you out the prescription. Other doctors easily call pharmacy and tell you go get your prescription.This guy is only thinking about money and charging you. I cannot trust him at all. read more

I wish I could give him 10 stars!!! I've known Dr Dhaliwal for over 14 years and I can't think of anyone I trust more as a physician. He truly cares about his patients and their families. He gets to the point and does not sugar coat things. Some people find that displeasing but I quite like people who doesnt sugar coat things but gets to the point. He was able to answer all my questions and guide me on what to do and expect. Never met such a wonderful doctor! When I realized I had to see a GI specialist the first person that came to mind was Dr Dhaliwal. My endoscopy went smoothly although thankfully I don't remember it. Haha. I agree completely with Denise's review. My background: I'm a healthy 28 year old who was referred to a hematologist by my gynecologist because I had high iron levels. Went to the hematologist who couldn't figure out what was wrong and so I was referred to a "liver specialist" because he thought I might have had some kind of exposure to hepatitis in the past (Turns out that wasn't true because a few days later, I successfully donated blood with no problems). So I filled out Dhaliwal's new patient forms before he saw me and put down all the herbal supplements I take...such as multivitamins, vitamin D (my gynecologist put me on because I am deficient of it), apple cider vinegar pills, vitamin C, calcium, and fermented cod liver oil, and vitex berry (a female hormone balance herbal supplement). He saw the list and immediately began lecturing me as if I was a small child. He cut me off every time I tried to talk or explain why I was taking the supplements. He said every supplement I wrote down was "garbage" and if I didn't stop taking all of them immediately, there was nothing he would do for me. He then told me if I didn't stop taking all my "garbage", he wouldn't be surprised if I dropped dead soon one day. I was appalled and speechless in front of him. I've never met anyone as rude as him in my life. Goodbye Dr. Dhaliwal and good riddance. Biggest waste of a $60 co-pay and two hours of my life ever. read more

Dr Dhaliwal saved my life. I have been suffering from stomach issues my whole life. It started when I was 25 when I realized I was suffering with major lower stomach aches. I went to many "good" doctors and took many test from MRI, CAT Scans, colonoscopies, ( 3 of them, never saying anything about the real issues) Most of the doctors just said I had IBS and there was no cure but my diet and to have more fiber. Fast forward to 35 when I went to another dr they did a simple blood test and said you have celiac decease. I stop all wheat. For five years, I was on this diet though it helped, it didn't solve the problem. A few months ago, again another attack and was rush off to ER. They found I had what was known as Diverticulitis ( there was a small cut in the lower colon, as well from all the damage through out the years) THIS HAS BEEN MY PROBLEM THIS WHOLE TIME! Now, at 43 I am going in for surgery. And guess what? I don't have celiac disease! Dr Dhaliwal is very down to earth and he is very outgoing and has a sense of humor. I have to experience what many unsatisfied people experienced. The doctor was rude and he would not answer my questions. He did an endoscopy on me and when I went to meet with him later again he was rude and unprofessional. I have gastritis and he told me it was okay to drink coffee and eat whatever I want which IS NOT TRUE. I am now almost fully healed due to me myself changing my diet and not taking the proton pump inhibitors he gave me that made my stomach feel worse. Dr Dhaliwal was recommended to my mother by a good friend and we were not disappointed. He recommended both a colonoscopy and endoscopy for my mother's circumstances. The Prepropik prescription was so much easier to take to prep for the procedures - something my mom's primary doctor did not even mention as an alternative to drinking those huge jugs of water. My mother had no discomfort or side effects at all from the procedures. Tip: She asked for a child-size scope since she is petite. It was also easier to have the procedures done at the surgery center than the hospital. The nurses were great. THEN I TOLD him I had Total knee replacement surgery 1 year ago January. My surgeon says I must take 4 Keflex before any procedure .Or put it in the IV . Dahliwall refused emphatically . I first met Dr, Dhaliwal quite by accident. In 2007 I had an operation to remove my gall bladder. The operation done by a house surgeon at a local hospital did not go well. My bile duct was accidentally nicked, and I immediately got very ill. I was in sub-ICU for days as doctors were attempting to repair my bile duct. I had been in the hospital a week at this point. I was so ill my skin color was turning vivid yellow, and I was about to turn white. I needed a stent inserted into my bile duct. No GI doctor in the area ( and there are many) wanted to get near me because I was high risk. Finally after 9 days in the hospital someone came to my room in sub-ICU and suggest I contact a Dr. Dhaliwal. I was told that he gets accolade from other doctors and that he is a extremely talented GI doctor. At this point my wife contacted him. She explained my dire situation and asked him for help. He came immediately to my bed side, assured me he could help me.. The next morning I had a 3 hour procedure that was a complete success. He inserted a stent in my bile duct, and I immediately started getting better, and shortly was 100%. Dr Dhaliwal truly saved my life. When the others doctors would not help me, Dr. Dhaliwal did, and got the delicate procedure completed. I will forever be indebted to this fine man and my GI doctor. Dr. Dhaliwal is great. But, this is not the end to my pesky bile duct issues. Last Thursday, I stared getting cold, shivering, and had nausea. I very quickly felt ill. My wife took me to the hospital ER and they took me in Immediately, giving me several tests.. I told them that Dr. Dhaliwal was my GI doctor, they contacted him. Dr.Dhaliwal scheduled me for a endoscopic procedure the next day. He and his assisting doctor worked on me for 3 hours, removing a large stone from my bile duct. It was a very difficult procedure due my anatomy. Dr. Dhaliwal saved my life a second time! He is by far the finest, and most talented GI doctor anywhere. Dr. Parminder Dhaliwal has been my GI doctor for almost 20 years. I would give him a lot of stars as he is a very simple and straight talk doctor. He is very knowledgeable and is very caring. He has cared for me thru various flare ups of Ulcerative Colitis, including at times when I was hospitalized. He has performed endoscopies and colonoscopies on me and has always done a professional job. I have referred him to other friends and they are all very appreciative of his services. He is also an Internist and has a good understanding of the overall medicine and medical treatments. Getting appointments with him has never been a problem and he always returns calls when needed. If I could give Dr. Dhaliwahl 50 stars I would've done it. He gave my Husband and my Father in law their life back. First my husband had suffered from abdominal pain for years. Seen different GI doctors and done at least 4 colonoscopies and endoscopios. Misdiagnosed by all the previous doctors (the last one put him on a high fiber diet almost killed him) that's when the pain became unbelievable accompanied by sweats and fever. I called everyone I know and finally my cousin recommended me Dr. Dhaliwahl (he helped him before with acid reflex problems). Called the Doctor's office and begged them to get an emergency appointment and for sure they told us to come in right away. We rushed there and once The doctor saw my husband he sent us to Hoag hospital for emergency. Ordered some scans and did a colonoscopy to find out that my husband has krohn's disease. And of course after medication and treatment he is in a great condition living normal life. Second: my father in law. Three years ago he started suffering from pain in his upper stomach area. Went to the hospital and they did some scans and X-rays and blood tests ended up telling him that he has maybe an upset stomach and some kidney issues. Seriously. Upper stomach pain from kidney issues. We decided to take him to another hospital and again. Nothing. So we called Dr. Dhaliwahl and told him what's going on and he advised us to stay there and he is gonna call the hospital and order a CT scan. And he did. Then he showed up to the room. We asked him about the situation and he said he doesn't know till he get a biopsy. After couple days he called us to tell us the disaster. Lymphoma cancer. Long story short (it's too long already) he sent us to a good lymphoma doctor and he started chemotherapy and he did well. Exactly a year after the cancer hit him again and he did bone marrow transplant. And exactly another year after which was this December my father in law started feeling back pain and abdominal pain. Hospital again said there is nothing they could find and he should go home. We thought it might be from lifting something heavy. But the pain didn't go. So we called Dr. Dhaliwahl and got an urgent appointment and we explained to him what's going on. Grabs his phone and calls the scanning center cross the street from his office and tells them that he need a CT scan to be done right away. And he gave us a scan form written on "stat urgent" so they would send him the results after an hour. The next morning we got the horrible news for the third time. The Cancer is back. Now my father in Law is getting a new treatment in City of hope and all the thanks to Dr. Dhaliwahl that he is still alive and getting treated. At the end I just wanna say that He is a real doctor and a real human being who cares a lot about his patients. Not only about their wallets. read more
