Same problem as another review; it is impossible to schedule an appointment. Calling their phone number directs you to the front desk who takes down your name, phone number and tells you they will forward to scheduling department. I called 3 times the past 2 weeks, no call backs. Not sure what's going on, but it would be nice to actually get a call back read more

Absolutely terrible doctor. First takes a month to schedule an appointment, send multiple reminders to be on time. You show up and oh and he is running behind by 45 mins and do you wanna wait??? No I don't wanna wait for 45 mins!!! And why couldn't they call me to let me know he is running late, oh because he just got in. I guess looking at a lot of asses has made this doctor one also. Unbelievable. This guys office has zero customer service and clearly this doctor doesn't care. read more

Dr Chen is an exceptional GI specialist. On my first visit with him, we spent 45 minutes discussing my GI history. Based on that discussion, he identified certain lab and diagnostic tests I should have done and medications that could prove effective. On my follow-up visit, we discussed what worked and what did not, results from the tests, and next steps. I appreciate Dr Chen's genuine care, thoroughness, and sincere interest in remedying my long-running GI problems. I highly recommend him for your GI care! read more

Dr. Philip Chen is my gastroenterologist and I'm happy being in his care. He is with United Gastroenterologists. He is very compassionate, knowledgeable, and has a wonderful bedside manner. It's too bad his office is not ideal. They are hard to reach and unresponsive most of the time. I did find, however, that they are more communicative via email. I am grateful to Dr. Chen for identifying health issues and allowing me to receive much needed medical help. Thanks to him I was referred to a world renowned hepatologist at UCSD Health Center in La Jolla and currently receiving continuous treatment. Dr. Chen is a very experienced and caring doctor. The downside is his office staff, which seems to have a high turnover rate. If you can overlook that then you can enjoy expert care from an extremely competent doctor. read more

Dr.Chen is personable, a knowledgeable gastroenterologist and helpful. The employees are friendly and helpful as well. It's an experienced group and they are prepared and informative about scheduling planning and procedures. Because the office is small, there was a long wait on my recent visit, but they are moving to a larger space soon and hopefully that should help. read more

I had an initial office visit with Dr Chen for a routine colonoscopy as I was starting with a new insurance and my Primary care physician referred me to him. From the start with the receptionist and the medical assistant, they were very welcoming, friendly and patient! Then I met Dr. Chen who was very kind, polite and humble, as well as very knowledgeable! He asked me initial visit questions as well as explained the procedure to me! I couldn't recommend him or his office enough! My only complaint was with the last admin person who explains the prep procedure to you, who was a bit impatient and abrupt when I tried to ask questions. Perhaps it had been a challenging day!
