I have celiac disease, duodenitis, idiopathic rapid gastric emptying, and other issues, and my bloodwork has been showing for a while now that my celiac is still active even though I follow a 100% strict certified gluten-free diet for 5 years now and i have been feeling severely ill for a long time now. They also cannot figure out why I have rapid gastric emptying other than blaming it on my celiac and refusing to move forward with any other testing. My doctor was sweet and nice, but unfortunately I did not feel like my concerns were taken seriously or that I was actually getting the help I needed. They said no to further testing, and did not give me any treatment, just told me to see a dietitian. They also said NO to giving me a referral to the Mayo Clinic and NO to a doctor's note when I missed an entire semester of school because I was severely sick!! This was despite my bloodwork showing proof that I was sick and the fact that I even had to go to the ER. I shared everything with my primary care doctor, and she found this to be ridiculous that i had to go to her when my gastroenterologist should have approved this. She finally gave me the Mayo Clinic referral that I truly needed and doctor's note for school so I could get the proper evaluation I needed instead of continuing to be dismissed. I would not recommend this office to anyone who is dealing with a complicated or ongoing medical issue. I went there looking for help and left feeling dismissed and like nobody actually cared to figure out what was wrong with me or was concerned about my health. I just felt like another number.

I am a HCP and have worked with many doctors and I would not recommend Dr Quist to my loved ones or anyone for that matter. See below for my experience. I saw Dr Quist for second opinion on chronic reflux and swallowing difficulties. I had a horrible experience after my endoscopy. He didn't even consent me prior to endoscopy and I spoke to him for like 15 seconds while they wheeled me into the OR. After endoscopy, he told me his findings very quickly (while I was still waking up from the procedure) so I did not get to ask any questions. He literally stood at the doorway said my findings quickly and walked out. My first endoscopy (with another physician) they called my fiancé in the room prior to doctor explaining my findings. I also was never told by Dr Quist I would be extremely sore after procedure (took multiple biopsies) and for several days it was EXTREMELY painful to swallow (did not have this with first endoscopy with another GI specialist). Sometime after my endoscopy procedure I called in due to having RUQ pain and concerned about my gallbladder and received a call back from his assistant who told me to complete abdominal ultrasound and HIDA scan. I completed ultrasound which showed an enlarged liver which he did not seem to be concerned about and I only ever talked to his assistant. Called by her a few days later about the biopsies and told my results and to take a medication and to make sure to keep my appointment. Well just received a call from the reception asking to move my appointment. She was extremely rude and condescending and ultimately read my results again on the phone and basically told me it's not worth coming in if I didn't do the HIDA scan or take the medications (I am actively trying to conceive which I told him at the initial appointment). Overall, i had very limited interactions with him and his staff was so rude to me when trying to reschedule my 6 week follow up the day of my appointment. It was a very poor experience right from the beginning. I am confused by the good reviews because my experience and treatment was so poor.

Appointment availability was months out, regardless of severity of pain, recent hospitalization or symptoms. DeGuzman spent a total of 10 minutes with me on the phone, and then post-procedure, my results were given to me by the front desk person who didn't address the reason for my procedure or understand the context. My issue was unresolved and I have taken my case to another local doctor with a great staff and timely follow up with the actual doctor, vs the office manager. The office doesn't have the time for individual care, but the billing is sure prompt.
