This last time we sent a piece of paper in a small envelope. They put it in a big packing envelope and charged $158.63!!! I couldn't believe it. But we need it ASAP and didn't have time to find another shipper. For the $158.63, the promised the envelope would be delivered Friday. We could live with Friday so we held our noses and went ahead. Friday came and went with no delivery, even though the package was at the local DHL. After the envelope finally arrived Monday afternoon I called DHL. They claim to have a guarantee. The woman I spoke to, Mary, was no help whatsoever. I finally gave up and asked for a supervisor. She told me that one would call me in 90 minutes or less. I set the stopwatch on my phone and went about the rest of my day. That was at 5:30pm. Four and one half hours later I stopped the timer and went to bed. When I called today I was told that the supervisor called me twice and left a voicemail once. I immediately picked up my phone and looked. No calls. No voicemail. I again asked for a supervisor call back. This time the guy called. He told me he was the one who called yesterday. I told him all evidence to the contrary. He then informed me that there was no guarantee on the delivery, despite what we were told. He further said that a guarantee option wasn't even available to deliver to my city. The 5th package had import fees due and was selected for physical inspection. I paid the import fees on 14 September. The package cleared inspection on 14 September. The status changed to "On hold awaiting for payment of shipment related fees" on 19 September. I contacted the Colombia office and sent them the payment and sent them the payment confirmation that DHL sent when I paid the fees using the link that they sent me via email on 14 September. Colombia Customer Service sent me a document indicating a zero balance due and instructed me to forward that to another email address within DHL. I did that 28 hours ago. The status still shows "Shipment on Hold". I tried to contact Colombian Customer Service, but the number only gives me a busy signal. I email Colombian Customer service, no response, I emailed the other address where I sent the official Resolution form. No response. I wrote in WhatsApp and the response was to call Colombian Customer Service. This company's systems do not communicate with each other. I would like to warn anyone using DHL service, the carrier can check a box on the waybill that states YOU HAVE ELECTRONICALLY SIGNED for a package. This can occur even if you have not seen the carrier. In Nov. I received an email the package I was waiting for had been delivered. I went to the door nothing was there, I call the carrier to have the truck circle back and pick up the package, as it was not delivered to my door. Carrier refused said I would have to wait and call on Friday. from then until now, I have not been able to receive a copy of the electronic signature as POD.. US Bank is supporting DHL provided POD with the check box and a picture of the package. I asked for 1 simple item for the bank to get something with my signature. I ordered merchandise from Europe, waived the mandatory signature requirement on the parcel and was told it would arrive Oct 15th. It didn't. A client of mine switched from Fed Ex to DHL service to save money. Ugh. And the old saying goes: you get what you pay for. DHL consistently loses packages, delivers them several days late... and for some reason my city of over a half-million people is considered too small, too rural for 10:30 AM deliveries. So deliveries to my address-- already at least a day late-- always arrive right as I'm about to quit work for the day. Their web site gets a big fat "F" as far as usability is concerned. Shipping a package online is a confusing process. Drop menus are non-specific, and selectable options aren't altogether obvious. Fed Ex's web site can tell me WHEN my package will arrive. DHL... not so much. For example: if you're sending a package on Friday and you want it there on Saturday DO NOT select "Tomorrow". That would be Monday. Go to the bottom of the drop menu and select "Saturday Delivery". And then wait until three screens later for it to tell you that Saturday Delivery is not possible. Bash head into keyboard and start the process over again. (It's all for nothing really anyway. Your package will arrive on neither Saturday or Monday. Think Wednesday.) I hope that my client gets wise to the fact that they may be saving a couple bucks, but productivity is now WAY down and deadlines are being missed. I wish I could give no stars to DHL-- they royally pissed me off last Friday. i'll try to keep it brief- My mom's computer died so I ordered her a new one from Dell. Of course I had it shipped to my mom's house. They attempted to deliver it on Friday and no one was home. They left one of those "sorry we missed you" stickers saying it was the FINAL delivery attempt. Mind you, it was the ONLY delivery attempt. So, my mom called DHL and they told her to just go pick it up at their warehouse that they'd be open until 8pm. So Friday after work, I skip happy hour and go pick up my mom and we head out to the DHL warehouse by the airport. My mom was watching my niece and nephew so we had a 2 and 4 year old along for the ride. After waiting in line for nearly 40 minutes (my niece and nephew thought it would be hilarious to make fart noises), I proceed to give the lady the attempted delivery notice and my ID. She says that my ID needs to match the shipping address. Since i don't live with my mom anymore, my ID obviously doesn't match the address. But my mom was there, so I have her show them her ID with the address where the package was supposed to go to. They wouldn't accept it. Come on, when they get to your house, they don't ask for ID before handing the person at the door the package. She says that Dell needs to submit a form and that it would take 48 hours for them to do it. So I get on the phone with Dell and they tell me they could send the form over immediately but DHL wouldn't process it for 48 hours. This was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. So much time spent, gas, the irritation of not being able to take the computer home. To add insult to injury- while I was there, another woman who had gone to pick up her computer learned that they had already delivered it. Her address was SW something and they had delivered it to NW something.. I had one bad experience with them previously but this one definitely took the cake. I can't believe I'm the first person to write a review for DHL. I just got a package delivered today in Lake Forest, CA, and although the shipment was alright (although the box was pretty badly damaged-- I've heard they have a reputation for that), I was excited to receive my package. When I heard the delivery truck come, I went to the door to pick it up, but I typically like to wait until the drivers leave, because I think it's awkward to pick up the package when they're still there. Anyways, I waited and waited, and the guy didn't leave. I looked outside and he had actually grabbed my hose and started rinsing off his truck. I ran outside to ask him what he was doing, and he explained to me that since he had just delivered a package, he thought he could clean the dirt off his truck too. Well, I paid shipping for my package but I'm not going to pay to be a truck fleet wash service as well so I asked him to put down my hose and leave. Grabbed his truck number and called corporate. They said they'd let his supervisor know, but who knows if it will trickle down. I would definitely never ship with DHL again knowingly. Even this time, I had bought something online, so it wasn't my choice. Horrible runaround. I had a delivery that DHL told me would be here Nov 27. On Nov 27, at 2pm, I got a text saying it is coming today. At 8:49pm, I got an email saying that at my request (I made no such request) the package will be delivered monday Nov 30. At 2:17 on Nov 30, the status was changed to 'shipment on hold'. I called. The customer rep told me that I hadn't filled out the signature form until the 27. I have an email confirming I did it on the 24th. He also said that even though it is on hold, it will be delivered today, Nov 30. I told him I wanted to talk to a supervisor. One called me back in about an hour. She said that he was wrong, it will not be here until Dec 1. I told her that he told me 1 hour ago that it was coming today. No answer. I will never use this company again. The driver brought in the form, we filled it out, handed it back to him and off went the package. A few days later we recieved a call from the Magazine saying the products did not arrive. We called and they could not find the package. The tracking number had not been registered. Then several days later I recieved a call from Ohio saying they had found the pacakge but the label had fallen off. I provided additonal info and they said they would overnight it to the magazine for the photo shoot. Now 10 days later the package still has not arrived. This has been a customer service nightmare. My package was delivered to the wrong address and I have been on the phone with DHL customer service since 8am, it is now 4:15pm. I had to personally hunt down the delivery location and phone number only to find out that the driver did not remember where he dropped off the package, but he knew the address was incorrect. What company allows this level of incompetence out of a international brand? This package is supposed to be on a plane with me within 24 hours and the negligence is at an all time high. Where is the sense of urgency after a major mistake? There's also no empathy whatsoever from customer service. I have NEVER experienced such terrible behavior from a delivery company. I will NEVER use DHL again. In the past, deliveries of vintage instruments from Germany took well over a month to come in. Pricing was good, and there generally is not a huge rush. This last time, two months into waiting (we were told the pandemic would increase lead times) the seller and I noticed through tracking that the packages had not moved since 4 days after being dropped off. Customer service representatives tell us what we can find out through online tracking. Customer support for further inquiry is perfectly horrible, with one having to resort to writing letters - yes, actual mailed letters, and awaiting snails' pace, vague responses. As the buyer, I have absolutely no recourse with them, so it's up to me to haunt the seller/shipper for any kind of update as to where on the planet my shipment might be. We have now been told that the two packages have been "lost". The seller (and friend of mine) explains that their responses seem to be created to just wash their hands of it, as though they really do not care to find the packages, as it's easier to issue a refund. If there was a ZERO STAR rating, DHL would get it, as this has been a complete failure to ship rare, vintage equipment that has been cherished for well over fifty years. read more

DHL was used to deliver an overseas package which stated "costume jewelry" on the label. Apparently that was a big, flashing sign for one of their workers to steal the package. And they had the audacity to sign my name to indicate that the package was "delivered". Since I live in an apartment building with security cameras and doormen who scan delivered packages (this package was never scanned), this is an obviously false narrative. I spoke with several of their customer representatives, and none were helpful. Only the last one I spoke with told me to contact the shipper, which by that time I had already done (and which was probably noted in my file). Moreover, they wrote in my file that they had left me voice mails to discuss the situation--which they had not. In fact at one point they had closed my file "because they couldn't get in contact with me." I'm assuming I'll get a refund from the shipper eventually. If not, I'll have to sue DHL and report them to the proper transportation regulators. read more

Riddled by Cancer (incredibly poor management) this Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN) step-child will never become profitable. Shame on DPWN for letting this happen to what could be the cornerstone to their flagship. DHL USA is the only branch of DHL that continues to lose $$$. Upper & lower management has driven the company into the ground, while allowing the operations side of the company to starve. Because DHL USA has become a "Cultural Trainwreck", eventually DPWN will have to outsource as many positions as possilbe to minimize financial loss on the corporate end of things.. Becuase the US Market is so heavily integrated into worldtrade, DPWN cannot abandon the company altogether. There comes a time when a company is so mismanaged, it begins to "cut muscle in favor of weight loss". This may be acceptable when it comes to a teenage prom queen, but when the worlds 7th largest company (DPWN) expects to compete with 2 giants in a global market (UPS/FEDEX), muscle is the last thing that should be cut. DHL recently announced that UPS will provide the "Uplift" for the DHL network. Not only wll this allow UPS a strategic advantage on potential sales leads, but it will help tensure that DHL remains the red-headed stepchild in the Logistics industry. DHL will literally be "at the ass end" of every UPS Flight that leaves the ground. Using UPS for "uplift" is not only a logistic nightmare waiting to happen, but it also solidifies the fact that the Monkeys in the Boardroom are poorly trained: "Short term loss is acceptable when moving towards long term gain, however, when short term gain (Job cuts, cooking the books...etc) continues to deliver long term loss, something is incredibly wrong with the management". Didn't DHL USA learn a lesson when they bought out Airborne Express (ABX)back in 1998??? The 2 opperation systems are still not fully integrated. With this track record, What makes DHL management think they can integrate any better into the UPS network? Didn't DHL just sink Millions upon Millions of Dollars building their N. American hub in Wilmington, Ohio? Now they want to opperate with someone else providing the airlift? Overall assessment: This cancer ridden company will continue to not only lose millions of $$$ in opperations costs, but they will never be able to compete in a competetive market. DPWN will have to sell off the Entire Global DHL Network simply because they cannot get the US in order. Look for FedEx to buy the company, but only for their assests. More planes = More Product. "We are the international shipping specialists so you don't have to be. " That's what you purport in emails to be, but sadly you are anything but. 3 days waiting around for delivery that never came. Endless calls to inept and inefficient representatives who lie and provide mistruths. Supervisor who claims no one is above him and he is the final step with customer service. (The word service is a misnomer as it would imply actual service) too difficult for drivers to put in provided gate codes so actual delivery could take place even despite many calls to the call center. Get it together DHL all you do is delivery so you might want to try actually delivering. read more

1 star is WAY too generous for this piece of crap company. I have now taken TWO days off of work to be home so I could receive my package. The first time, I get a notification saying address was wrong. They won't attempt delivery until the following Monday. I didn't trust them so I drove an HOUR to go get it on Monday. What do you know, the address was listed perfectly on the package from the sender. What's the issue, DHL!? Second delivery was scheduled for today. I get a notification saying that recipient was not home. I've been home ALL DAY and there was no knock on my door. I called DHL minutes after the notification went out asking them to turn around and deliver since I've now taken two PTO days from work. I explain to them my situation which is that it's my wedding dress and I have an alteration appointment tomorrow (Saturday). My wedding is in two weeks and I found a tailor to do a rush job on my dress. DHL does not care and won't attempt delivery till Monday. Thank you very much, I will not have a dress that fits me for my wedding. UPS, FedEx, USPS all have NO problem delivering to me multiple times a month, none. They have proven again and again that they cannot perform their job of delivering and that they don't care at all for their customers (even in urgent situations). I couldn't even get on the phone with the manager. Thank you for ruining my day (again) and my wedding because your employees could not do their only task and then your management would not ask him to turn around when he was down the street.. I can echo the sentiment expressed on this web page: DHL delivers damaged goods and with delay. Repeatedly. Worse, contrary to FedEx who stand up for their mistakes, DHL refuses to pay, even if the evidence is clear. read more

How is this company even still in business... sent something out for repair via USPS from the east coast to the west coast.. 2 days later it's there and delivered no problems at all! It gets fixed and sent back via... ugh dhl... 2 days later and it's in a warehouse in my state, ok fine... then it sat there while tracking said "Ready for Transport to USPS" for ***6*** days... it took these idiots 6 frigging days to figure out where a post office was to hand it over so someone with a clue could get my package delivered. Unreal, I'm not sure if it's incompetence or just plain laziness, either way they are a joke. DHL named this service "SM Parcels Expedited".. I literally could have walked to the other side of my state, grabbed my package, and walked it home TWICE in the time they spent trying to get it on a van and dropped off at a post office. Apparently no one at dhl ever bothered to look up the meaning of the word "expedited". read more

if i could give zero stars i so would!!! dhl first documented tracking info of having my package from the seller on 6/17/19 and transferring it to usps in my city where the package was supposed to be delivered. i filed a complaint/investigation with usps on 6/22/19. spoke with usps and dhl 6/23, 6/25, 6/27 and maybe more times than that! dhl maintains that usps had the package when in fact, usps never received the transfer until 6/27/19!!! so my package of $49.18 value and items that are temperature sensitive has been basically sitting in a dhl warehouse where to my knowledge is not temperature controlled...businesses and customers this is a warning not to do business with dhl!! they could've cared less where my package was. in my opinion, this warranted the formal complaint i opened with the better business bureau!! read more
