I recently got a haircut here by Brandon, and it was one of the best barbershop experiences I've had in a long time. Brandon carefully listened to what I wanted and checked in with me throughout the haircut to see if I was happy with what I saw. Not only did he do a fantastic job cutting and fading my hair, but he also spent time showing me how to style my hair and gave me a few tips and tricks to work with - I was very impressed. They accept walk-ins, and you can also book your appointment online, which is really convenient. Also, there is plenty of parking in the area. Overall, I felt beyond satisfied with how my haircut turned out and will be sticking with Brandon as my barber and Di Michele's in general for my haircuts. Highly recommend! Di Michele's is just an all around great experience. Staff including Elias (owner) himself are always friendly and give you the feel of never having to force conversation. Prices even wen increases are still worth every ounce, and the timing is by far, better managed than most other barbers in the area. Also worth note, there is now a cafe connected too, which is pretty unique in its own right. Really to put simply, there truly are tons of great barbers in the central Connecticut area, but Di Michele's provides more reasonable prices than many, less waiting than most, and a comfortable atmosphere. The atmosphere and shop were cool with the old barber chairs. I had a good bit of hair that I was really looking to just get shaped up. I was told that he really doesn't do long hair.. should have probably left at that point. He chopped off all my hair, said it would help the length be more even when it grows back. That's fine. Hair grows. However one week later I can't get my hair to style any where near the way I like it, wet or blown dry, it just looks awkward, the front doesn't poof but the middle does creating these waves that I've never had before. I think if you're looking for a modern cut you'll be fine but just wasn't for me. read more

Elias is the man! Surely overdue for a review as well. Been coming to Di Michele's Barbershop for about two months now and I can honestly say that I'm here to stay. Elias isn't just an ordinary barber. He is very passionate, dedicated, and strives off customer satisfaction which is exactly what is needed to do what he does. He also does it very well and efficiently. The shop itself is tucked away on a quiet street and has more than enough parking to accommodate customers. The interior design was all done by him which you can take time to appreciate while you're there waiting or getting a yourself all cleaned up with a haircut. Haircuts and/or shaves are by appointment only which is a fairly simple process to book online on the website. When sitting in the seat, Elias will provide you with a good conversation and an even better haircut. I feel like a new man every time I walk out of his shop thanks to him. I stopped in this afternoon for a cut and couldn't have been happier. I had been meaning to check this place out a while, but always thought about it too late to book an appointment. I saw on their site that they were now taking walk ins so I decided to give it a shot. I walked in and immediately was impressed with the cool environment they have created. The shop is filled with cool finishes, art and antique barber related items that catch your eye. You can tell the owner has a love for his craft and he executed this shop really well. I was taken care of by Brandon, he was enthusiastic, precise and took his time. Once you're in that chair, you have his total attention and he ensures you're leaving with the best possible cut! Been wanting to try this place out. Finally decided to make an appointment the day before online which was super easy and convenient. Elias cut my hair and he did an amazing job. I showed him a couple of pictures of what I wanted. I could tell he knows what he's doing throughout the haircut and gave me exactly what I wanted. The setup of the shop is really cool, and the atmosphere is very laid back and inviting. Today I had an excellent experience with DiMichele's and I highly recommend you give this place a go. I came in on a Saturday as a walk in and it was worth the short wait to get an extremely thorough and personalized hair cut and shave by Brandon. If you're used to generic franchised hair places then this is the exact opposite. The barber takes his time and make sure that no detail is overlooked. After 30 minutes I looked completely different, in a positive way! My wife was very happy with the new look. On top of this all the prices are very reasonable. I'll be going back. read more

They couldn't be more professional handling the COVID outbreak. Masks always worn, seating available outside until appointment time, and hand sanitizer available for use upon entrance. Stopped in after work and told to go online and make an appointment. Even though chair was empty and he said he had half-hour till next client. Restated I just needed a quick clean-up but he would not accommodate. Place looked nice so I gave it 2nd chance next day. I made an online appointment which was scheduled and confirmed but then later cancelled 1 minute before start. I did see the owner walking over to the diner 15 minutes prior so lunch must have been really good that day. Glad he enjoyed it as I had to now scramble to find another barber before my meeting later that afternoon. This must be some sort of hobby as most businesses I am aware of don't continuously turn away clients. Needless to say, won't be back and will share my customer relations experience with more than a few of my fellow service members up the street. read more

Overpriced and average quality haircut with a sensitive barber. Elsewhere in CT, I went to the same barber for 15 years but moved to the Cromwell area recently. After looking around and getting botched at other places I went here a few times. He kept chopping off a little too much, but I never complained. Decent or 'OK' haircuts but then my future appointments were mysteriously and repeatedly cancelled after what I assume had to do with feedback I gave on my third haircut in an attempt to iron out what I was looking for. e.g. "last hc was good, same haircut just a little lower on the fade this time." However, I never criticized his work. The owner was my barber. Well, after being cancelled on twice with no explanation after my last haircut, then calling twice to try and figure out how to reschedule- with no explanation- my number was blocked from calling (I kid you not). I got the hint and concluded that apparently this is someone who must be easily offended. Tragic. Personal preference on my haircut is not the same as criticism; by taking it personally it implies that maybe he is not capable or confident enough in his own ability to perform quality custom work. If I ever gave a criticism I would suggest to grow from it, not hide, work with real people, don't surround yourself with "yes men." read more
