I walked into the place on a Saturday morning and there was several people ahead of me. I was greeted/acknowledged and I sat down and waited my turn. No screaming kids, no chitchat, just a couple of barbers clipping hair and radio playing oldies in the background. Ten minutes later and it was my turn. Barber asked haircut ? I said yes, off the ears, off the collar and he began cutting. No other words were said till he was done. Gave him $20 and walked out. What a great way to start a weekend. read more

I've gotten better cuts by trainees at a Cost Cutters. I look like I got trapped in a dryer with a running clipper. I don't know what else to say. My haircut is simply terrible and the money I saved not going to a more upscale barbershop just isn't worth looking like a fool for weeks. The haircut couldn't pass inspection by a drunk person with 20/1000 vision riding on a horse with a motorcycle helmet on. Its that obviously bad. read more

It was a hot day when I visited this barber shop. I was long overdue for a haircut. My hair had not been cut for about 4 months. As I entered the shop, I noticed the nice air conditioned atmosphere. The floor was clean and the entire shop seemed neat and well organized. I was able to take a seat in a barber chair immediately. The gentleman barber was very pleasant to me. I asked him if I could just have a #2 attachment on the electric shears. No problem. As soon as he started the haircut, I noticed that the electric shears were connected to a vacuum collection system. If you've never experienced this, you should try it. It not only saves the barbers from having to stop between each and every customer to sweep the floor, it allows the customer in the chair to avoid all those little prickly hairs that cover our faces and fall down our t-shirts. Plus, as I was still trying to cool off from being outside, the air flow created by the vacuum device felt refreshingly cool on my head. The barber used foam and straight razor to trim around the neck and above the ears. He also used a hot, moist towel around my neck...and it felt sooo good. The entire haircut lasted just a few minutes and then I was on my way. The price was a bargain for such a professional, enjoyable experience. I wish I had tried them out a long time ago. They're located right on the southern end of Main Street; easily to be seen. read more

I have been going to this place for over a decade now and have yet to be disappointed. Over that time I have slightly changed the way my hair is cut and Mark has given me good advice on that. I think those that have complaints didn't express themselves very well when they got their hair cut or didn't complain to Mark afterwards...or they are just competitors trying to undermine the shop. There are 2 barbers there now and both are good. Though I still use Mark exclusively I notice others are using the other barber (I don't remember her name). I'm not sure what I'll do if, or when, Mark retires. Not only good haircuts, but a bit of 'old world charm' in the shop itself. read more

I have given up on Manchester Barber Shop simply because I don't want to get stuck with Norm. I dread every time I need to go here on a Saturday, specifically due to the off chance that he will be the one cutting my hair. I understand his long history with this place, but it is time to retire. My hair currently looks like someone used a hedge trimmer on it and it is 3x shorter than it should be. I'm sorry, but using a buzzer and a comb for 100% of a haircut will not suffice. read more
