We tried Diablo Escapes and it was a fun experience. I've done physical escape rooms before, but this was my first VR escape room experience. Our game was the pirate themed Depths of Osiris (check out the preview vids on YouTube), and it was perfect for a team of an adult and two ten year olds. My boys had no trouble getting used to the VR gear they had to wear for the experience (a headset and two hand controllers - it was their first time). We had to cooperate to solve each room's puzzle to unlock a new room. Eventually, we got to the final scenario which was exciting and really required us to collaborate. The puzzles were well constructed and mostly understandable from a logic perspective. The graphics and sound were pretty decent (it's not super-high res like Cyberpunk) and matched the gameplay perfectly. We got some timely tips from the game master too, and cleared the puzzle with about a minute left on our 45 minute timer. The facilities are super clean and well maintained. They also have snacks and drinks which are nice to make the visit special for younger kids. My sons want to come back, and I do too. I also heard they are adding a physical escape room, so definitely something to look forward to. read more

Such a fun experience! A mix of escape room and whimsical virtual reality - what a refreshing way to reinvent both worlds. I've been to Diablo Escapes twice now and have always been impressed by the customer service. Make sure you get there 15-20 minutes early so you have time to finish any waivers and get your packs set up for the room. There is an adjacent parking lot so you shouldn't have any issue finding any spot. You can easily book online and see what difficulty level each game is. If you've done VR or escape rooms before, you can probably start with intermediate. Each game will require some communication and teamwork to solve challenges or other puzzles. It can get a little hectic, so make sure you mesh well with your group (truly). The VR component really makes you feel like you've been transported to another place - be warned that it can make you feel a little queasy if you're not used to it, but the staff are great in making sure you are comfortable. They're quick to help troubleshoot if you get stuck or anything. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun group outing. We went over to philz coffee after and then went to Bare Bottle Brewing for some lunch and drinks. read more

We experienced an alien abduction yesterday at Diablo Escapes and had an absolute blast! I highly recommend this experience. It's more immersive than we thought it would be. I was looking for an escape room that would be available the same day since a lot of the other escape rooms always get booked really really fast. I came across this place and was very pleased with this type of VR escape room. It was a great experience. I never thought I would've loved an escape room that had to do with virtual reality. It was my 13 year-old son birthday and my little sister went with us as well. We had so much fun. We did the pirate escape room. The only thing with this escape room, the pirate one in specifics is that you will have to bend over to pick up items and objects and if you're wearing the backpack, it's very difficult and it's a workout so be prepared. Other than that, I'm excited to try the other escape rooms and excited to come back. What a great experience. Wow! What a fun time we had today at Diablo Escapes! We have been to other escape rooms, but this one is on another level! It was the perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon, easy to get to, and an exciting experience. Sally & Nazar (owners) and Josie were soo wonderful to work with! No easy feat-- 6 lively high-energy 10-11 year-old boys celebrating a birthday. I appreciated how calm yet in control Josie was of the group when the excited boys weren't always A+ listeners. Josie really allowed them to succeed and have fun. A few of the boys needed water and bio break during the game ...Diablo Escapes staff and owners were so accommodating to help them get in/out of gear and paused the game. Who does that during a timed Escape?! Kudos to this well run business. The boys all said the game was amazing and their equipment and facilities are all great, replete with lots of props for fun photos at the end! As a Mom/chaperone, I also really appreciated that I had a comfy place to work on my laptop and peek in and observe whenever I wanted. Came here with a group of 4 for their Runaway Train VR escape room and this was so much fun! The Runaway train is one of their harder rooms but we ended up finishing with plenty of time. We really enjoyed all of the puzzles and how it was mixed with some thrilling shooting action. Made for a very fun and interactive experience! If we lived closer to the area, we would 100% come back to do their other experiences! read more

I could see this being a good time however my experience was very frustrating. Initially the game started a bit late because they were trying to get the batteries to work and then when we finally got going my headset went out 3 times and my sons twice. It was really hard to stay immersed and not get frustrated by the end of it. They did offer me a credit but my son and I are moving and likely will not be able to return. I have emailed them asking to be reimbursed so I hope at the very least they will be understanding in that sense. They did seem like very nice people and given the reviews I'm sure this was a one off. My luck Update: they did refund me half of my booking which was fair considering we did finish the game. It is better than a voucher I cannot use or nothing at all. I believe it was an off day read more

My wife I visited Diablo Escape for a date night. We booked the Dragon's Tower game and had a great time! We've done many traditional escape rooms and this experience was a little different. It has puzzles like a traditional escape room, but also more video game-like obstacles well. We'll definitely come back and probably bring our kids! read more

It's been over a year later and we still love this place! We've gone two more times. We played Pirate's Plague and Time Travel Paradox. Both were really fun and solvable. We also played LaserBots again. All of these trips were with three people. You should sign up for their email listing. I found out about good seasonal promos on gift cards. I ended up buying a gift card around the holidays. Yes, we really love this place! Great for a gift. I don't think I mentioned in the older review that they have props for your photo ops after the game. Don't be afraid to use hints if you're stuck. I don't think they time you or count hints against you. It's either you escaped or you didn't. Over the past year they've added the Western themed game and a new Ninja themed game. They also have extended versions of Space Tiberia and the Depths of Not-Atlantis. I love how there's so much variety in the games but they also stay for a while. Escape rooms are a pricy hobby. Around $40+ per person depending on the day. But I think Diablo Escapes is well worth it and a very unique escape room experience. I still haven't come across other VR escape rooms in the Bay Area. read more

We met up with family to do an "escape room," and I expected to just hang out in the background while the kids worked it out. I didn't realize that we were going to a VR escape room so I was wondering why they placed us in a single room together until they started suiting us up. We had an amazing experience! First of all the staff was super nice and patient with us! Unlike traditional escape rooms, we ALL participated and had such a blast working together. The only issue that came up were the family members who had to wear the backpacks since they get really hot. I didn't experience that issue with the wireless pack, but it was still hot since we were really active in the game. I highly recommend this for a group activity! Thanks Diablo Escapes! read more

We had such a cool experience at Diablo Escapes! It's definitely a go-to when we want a fun group activity to do. We'd never done a VR escape room before so we were unsure what to expect, but the experience surpassed our expectations! We played the dragon tower and depths of Osiris back to back and had a great time. The visuals were amazing and the games are challenging! I'm obsessed with how realistic the dragons were. Our game master was great and she gave us clues as needed. One thing I will say is that we had a lot of technical difficulties with our equipment. Screens blacking out, players getting dropped mid-game. We started with the fanny pack set up, but I wouldn't recommend that. The backpack set up had fewer issues, so I'd recommend just starting with that so you don't miss out on game time. Otherwise it's a very cool experience and we'll definitely be back! read more

Cool spot and we highly recommend you try this at least once. At best you'll be a total rock star; at worst you'll be like us a fail the whole thing, lol! We still had fun! We did the Dragon room and it was pretty difficult for the 10 year old. It's also really hard to get used to not having a surface to put together puzzles. Took one point off because there was a glitch in our puzzle and the employees had to solve two of the puzzles for us in order to get us past the glitch. read more
