It was a very fun and cute date! The stuff were also very nice! Highly recommend for a simple and competitive date

It's a new way of doing something with the family. We were thinking of doing bowling but we wanted something different. This place is better. The staff are welcoming and gave safety instructions. Its fun for th e family

Was in town looking for a family activity to do and stumbled on AxeVentures! Dope spot, it was glow in the dark night which was a vibe. Axe throwing is tough!

Was looking for things to do on wifeys birthday which was a Wednesday and came across this place. You can register online or pay in person. They have seven lanes to throw axes. Peter was the instructor and showed us how to throw the axes. They have four axes per lane. After playing several games and tying the wife we took a couple pictures in front of their picture walls. (2) They have board games to play when not using or waiting for the lanes. Overall had a great time and will definitely be back!

My first time here. Hubby brought me here for some birthday fun. Peter was friendly and got us checked in pretty quickly. he showed us what to do and went over the safety rules. We had a fun time. Great music playing so it was nice vibe. Since we came as soon as they opened on a Wednesday afternoon so we had the place to ourselves. They have board and other games here to play as well. We will definitely comeback and bring our sons to play.

Friends invited me to AxeVentures for my 20th birthday and we played for 75 minutes. SO fun and exhilarating -- those 75 minutes passed by in a flash. They have a decent assortment of different axes with various weights and shapes to accommodate all players, and the coaches walk you through the entire process + safety before you begin play. They also provide clipboards with different games and rules for groups that want to play for points or compete! Definitely one of the more unique activity spots in Berkeley -- will definitely be coming back to de-stress from finals.

Stumbled upon this activity through Groupon. Location is nice as it's near some good restaurants so you can grab some grub before heading over. It was easy for me to find parking on the street as well. The staff is nice and efficient. They do a quick tutorial which is very much needed since I've never thrown an axe. There's some binders that have game ideas so that you and your group can have some sort of competition. There's snacks (like oreos, candy, etc) for sale, but it seems you can bring in your own food too (probably not alcohol though.. that would be a dangerous mix). I got bored after a while, so we didn't stay our full allotted time, but I'm glad I tried it.

This little spot is a whole in the wall hidden gem. My boyfriend randomly booked a 1 hour and 15 minute session for us and his 4 friends yesterday since it was raining and it's a cool indoor activity. It was a good deal, $200 for all 6 of us. You get there, sign a waiver, then the coaches quickly provide an overview of how to throw the axes / safety briefing, from there you get to get to it. They have instructions for games you can try, but we just did 3 on 3 and counted our points. Time flies so I definitely recommend booking longer than an hour. There are 4 different axes that come standard but they have additional options you can pay extra for. You can also buy balloons/other targets which is cool. I was a bit apprehensive at first because it is literally axes, but I got the hang of it bit by bit and enjoyed myself! Everyone that worked there was cool and helpful. I'd definitely go back

I came for the neon axe throwing day and it's very fun. I came during spring break so it was very empty so I was able to use a couple of lanes at a time. I came with my +1 and it was fun and all but this would be more fun with a bigger party. With just 2 of you you end up getting tired quickly

This was such a fun and welcoming first-time experience! The booking was for 75 mins, which is plenty of time to have fun and get an arm workout out of it. The staff showed us how to safely throw the axe and tips on how to aim better. It was a quick tutorial but very helpful to get started; they're also available if you need help. There are 4 axe sizes you can play around with. The place was nicely decorated and well-kept. It does get hot and stuffy after a while if there are lots of ppl. Overall, I would def recommend this place for a fun activity. They also have a cool glow-in-the dark experience on weeknights!

Came here with just my brother and I. We reserved online in advance (just 2 hours before) for a Saturday night. It was super fun. We came in, signed a quick waiver, and were giving a run down on safety procedures and proper technique. We got escorted to back. There's were 4 or 5 axe options. You could also do add one of other throwing objects but we stick to the basics. They also had a book nearby with a few options of games you could play and ways of scoring. Overall, super fun and the staff were attentive. It was $35 for 75 minutes which was more than enough time for the 2 of us. There was a table and stools behind the lane to sit if you wanted. I could see it getting crowded if folks had bigger parties, though. Would definitely come back.

Ace throwing target set of 2 at entrance

A little friendly competition never hurt anyone! Glad I ran into this place There were 5 targets in the back which was great because we ended up going in a group. We were able to take turns. The quick tips were good and informative. We started to get a little more competitive, and we realized that some of the axes were sticking better to the boards that weren't completely butchered. The one on the far left was falling apart and the one on the right was completely new. We had an amazing time throwing axes. It was a great work out. My only tip was it was 80* in Berkeley that day and it was hot and felt like there was no ventilation. They can really upgrade to AC. The fan wasn't helping which tired us pretty quickly. I'd def go back again but maybe during rainy season.

Went here for a quick fun activity for the kids on a weekday (no school) and we had the place to ourselves. Peter was so friendly, and helpful. We didn't have issues and we had soooo much fun. We will definitely be back with some friends. Street parking is available.

Axe retrieval after each throw is recommended due to the damage fees charged if the axe thrown hits another axe. On the day of our event, they arrived early to set up the cage at the venue. They gave safety instructions and tips on how to throw an axe. Everything was super safe and enclosed in a cage so there were no accidents. Derek and his team are professional, on time, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Minus a star because our waiter kept forgetting things, whether it was one or two sets of utensils, one or two waters, one or two straws, he kept having to come back and forth from the kitchen which is kind of a far walk in the establishment (on opposite ends from our table, really). Also I would've appreciated if they had mentioned to us to book the games in advanced before it became all sold out. One gripe I have is that I wish the workers were a bit more attentive. We went on Monday and there wasn't anyone at the front desk for maybe 10minutes. They didn't have us watch the safety/instructional video which normally plays on a loop at the front of the pit gate. We had two double karts because our kids are young and we were put in a race with multiple other adults. The employees in the pit were good, one was a young lady who seemed new and a young man who obviously had much more experience. I'm on the shorter side and he recognized I needed the pedals adjusted and a booster seat. He also rechecked all our belts because the girl didn't put them on tight enough. So during our race we had to go slowly for the first lap, but then it was on! Unfortunately, I had to go slow because my daughter is small and apprehensive about the whole experience. I'm sure we were a hindrance for the faster racers, but most were very respectful and drove around us. One person in particular (an older black man who uses the name "007 Speed") hit me into the barrier 3 times and hit my husband and son's kart at least twice. He hit us with such force both of my kids have been complaining of neck pain. I told the experienced male employee but no consequences for Mr. 007 Speed even though each time he hit us they overhead announced, "No hitting other drivers or barriers. Next time you will be out of the race." When the race was done Mr. 007 Speed never acknowledged what he did or apologized. As we were leaving we saw him complaining at the front desk. So overall, I really like this place. It's geared for children and families, but definitely for anyone who wants to have fun. It would be ideal if they grouped drivers separately like they do for junior racers. Group adult racers with ones who have children/want a chill experience and a group for retirees trying to relive their glory days

I originally wanted to leave a 1-star review, but I'm giving 2 stars because the assistant manager and kitchen manager were genuinely helpful and tried to make things better. Before our outing, my manager spoke with whoever handles bookings multiple times to confirm our reservation. The package we were told was $50 per person for 3 races, 4 pizzas, and space for our team, totaling $1,084 for 18 people. Each time, my manager confirmed that it included 3 races, and we were told they were having issues booking it correctly in the system but would fix it when we arrived. When I pulled up, I noticed most of the staff outside. Maybe it was a break or a slow day, but when I walked in, no one was at the register. I walked around until I found someone to help me, who I believe was the kitchen manager. She was awesome and connected me with the manager, who was outside. The manager, who I believe was Jordan, checked my party in and confirmed that we were getting 3 races for $50 per person. At that point, everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, 4 of my team members could not make it, and we were told they could not refund the $200. The assistant manager was great and gave us credit instead for food and game cards, which we appreciated. She handled that situation with great customer service. Where the experience went sideways was when we were waiting for our third race. The manager then told us he did not make the change and that we would need to pay an additional $20 per person for the third race. I was confused because we were told multiple times before the event, and again when we checked in, that the package included 3 races for $50 per person. At that point, my team was expecting 3 races. We had paid for 18 people, 14 showed up, and the 4 no-shows were credited toward food and game cards. I also noticed they had a Thursday special for $20 per race, so I asked if they could at least price match and refund $10 per person for the 14 people since we were not getting the third race. That would have been $140. The manager said party packages do not work that way. But from a customer standpoint, it felt like we would have been better off just paying individually and buying the pizzas ourselves instead of spending over $1,000 on a package that was not honored the way it was explained to us. As a business owner myself, I was honestly shocked by the lack of accountability and hospitality from the manager. I even told my management team that this was a perfect example of what not to do in our own business. My business partner was also upset and went to speak with the manager. He asked if the owner could be contacted so they could discuss the situation owner to owner. Unfortunately, the situation got worse. The manager got into a loud verbal argument with my business partner in front of customers and kids. That part was completely unacceptable. Instead of trying to de-escalate, make things right, or at least show some level of hospitality, the manager became confrontational. To the owner of this establishment, I hope you take this feedback seriously. The assistant manager deserves recognition because she handled herself professionally and showed real hospitality. She either has hospitality experience or it comes naturally to her, but either way, it should not go unnoticed. Business owner to business owner, the assistant manager was the bright spot in this experience. The manager, on the other hand, did not take accountability for what we were told during booking or what he confirmed when we checked in. I'm more than happy to update this review if the owner replies and makes this right.
