After a safety demonstration and explanation we got an hour and a half of play. They have 6-7 axe throwing lanes. They have extra add one like throwing knives and different targets for extra charge. They let us bring pictures to tape to the boards and even provided free balloons they pop loudly, but it just adds to the excitement! So much fun! For about $30, you can have a full hour of just throwing axes on a wall. My and my friends came on a weekend just to try it out and we didn't think we would like as much as we did. You get a tutorial before you attempt throwing it on your own first then you get to play on your own time after. It was easy for me to find parking on the street as well. The staff is nice and efficient. They do a quick tutorial which is very much needed since I've never thrown an axe. My boyfriend randomly booked a 1 hour and 15 minute session for us and his 4 friends yesterday since it was raining and it's a cool indoor activity. It was a good deal, $200 for all 6 of us. You get there, sign a waiver, then the coaches quickly provide an overview of how to throw the axes / safety briefing, from there you get to get to it. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone! Glad I ran into this place There were 5 targets in the back which was great because we ended up going in a group. We were able to take turns. The quick tips were good and informative. We started to get a little more competitive, and we realized that some of the axes were sticking better to the boards that weren't completely butchered. The one on the far left was falling apart and the one on the right was completely new. We had an amazing time throwing axes. It was a great work out. Reminiscing on this experience with friends celebrating a birthday a month ago. I coordinated this event for a friends birthday. This is a perfect activity for any friend meet up. Something new or familiar that folks get a chance to experience and have fun while doing it. We had a party of 9 people that showed up and the rest of our party met us straight at the dinner spot afterwards. Axe Adventures didn't require us to make a reservation. Usually if parties above 6 reservation with credit card required if week or day in advance, but when I called they were able to block off an empty window for our large party event. There was a brief intro to how to safely throw around others around you. There was also a game book that encouraged us to separate into teams and take advantage of the 3 throwing lanes to have a competition amongst friends which made things interesting. We created team names Owl and Giraffe LOL due to some friends attire choices so that was phunny! When you have a birthday in the party, the company gives our balloons to the celebrant. I descended down on this place with 5 girlfriends. For only $200, we had a lot of fun. Throwing an axe is a little harder than it looks. But the employees here are very helpful. I was able to get the hang of it and land some good throws. They of course make you sign a waiver, and have various rules to keep everyone safe. Lol We decided to have dinner at Kamado and then travelled down to AxeVentures to do some axe throwing. The staffs [Peter, Ella/Elle (sorry, I apologize! The staffs were really chill and down to earth and totally friendly to us and the other customers there. We went on a Friday night and that was their Glow In The Dark night. It was really cool! Overall, my husband and I had fun! For a first time axe thrower, it wasn't too hard to get the hang of it and you'll definitely have fun! They have street parking only and the location is on one of the busier streets of Berkeley. So, you have to park in the residential area and walk a couple blocks or so. It's not too bad though. Came here after a year to host a social club event. Apparently, they have glow-in-the-dark axe throwing on Monday and Wednesday evenings, which was new to me. Definitely try at least once! I have been wanting to try axe throwing and luckily had a group of friends that organized an event. I will say this place is a blink and you'll miss it, at least from the street level. I didn't even know that Berkeley had an axe throwing place. There was a short intro/safety session but after a few minutes they let the axes go flying! There are 5 total areas and multiple axe (and even throwing knives) to try out. It is definitely harder than the movies make it seem! We were there for an hour and a half. I will say if I was there alone I might not have stayed the entire time, but when you bring a group of friends, it does get a little more competitive. There are binders with multiple games that you can play as well as plain paper to keep score (because you gotta know how much you win by!) Recommend coming by with your friends and let your inner barbarian loose! read more

Always a fun time throwing axes and hatchets and sharp objects at plywood. We came here last night for the third time and had a blast. If you're looking to release any pent up COVID frustration and anger, AxeVentures is a great place to blow off some steam. We made a reservation two days in advance online for a Friday night, it came out to be about $35 per person. There is a Groupon but I believe the offer is only good for Tuesdays. Each session is about 90 minutes, which is more than enough time for a group of four to get plenty of practice throwing sharp objects. They ask you to arrive 10 minutes early and require you to wear close toed shoes - safety first. Once you check in, everyone in your party is asked to sign a waiver on your phone. If the entire session is booked, it might take a while to get everyone checked in. There are some bar games to keep you occupied while you wait near the front. They take everyone to the back for the throwing demo to go through basic safety instructions and some tips on how to throw the axe so it sticks in the target. The demo isn't long and takes about 5 minutes. The demo is easy to follow and the instructors are available to help once you get settled on your throwing lane. Each group is assigned a lane and each lane is fenced off and the floor is cushioned with tan bark like material. There is a table behind each lane for you to store your stuff and to sit down while you're not actively throwing. I haven't done this yet, but I've seen other parties bring their own dessert if you're hosting a birthday or celebration. There is paper and a clipboard at each table if you want to play a game and keep score. Each table also has game suggestions if you want to have a friendly competition. It can take a couple tries to get the hang of throwing. If you're not getting it right away, flag down one of the instructors and they will help you adjust your throw, the distance you stand from the throwing line, how you hold the axe etc. until you can get the axe to stick to the target. I haven't been with a group yet where not a single person in our group is unable to get their axe to stick at least once. Once you get the hang of it, you'll have a blast! If you really get the hang of it you can try throwing with two hands overhand, throwing two axes at a time - you won't run out of options. There are multiple kinds of axes and hatchets to throw. Some are lighter, some are heavier. You pick whatever works best for you. At the end of our session they let us throw sharp shovels, which was pretty fun but I admit, I never got the hang of it. Throwing any and all sharp objects is always fun even if it doesn't work out quite right. A really fun and unique activity right on Telegraph in Berkeley. Highly recommend for your next date night, group get together or even team bonding outing with your co workers. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This was so much fun! Saw people here just hanging out with friends, on dates, and for a teenager's birthday party. I've never had the urge to throw axes but I genuinely enjoyed it and would encourage my friends and family to experience this. Staff was super friendly and efficient - I scheduled an appointment online for 4PM for a group of 3 and there was a super quick intro that lasted about 7 minutes before we got to start throwing our own axes. This place was not too busy on an early weeknight which was perfect - theres 7 lanes total so every group was able to have their own one or two.
