I had no idea San Ramon had a community college! My review is for the general facility and amenities. DVC-San Ramon is one of several places to make online appointments for the vaccine in Contra Costa County for ages 16+. LOCATION and PARKING The main admin building is on East Campus, right off Watermill Rd. Follow the traffic circle and signs toward parking for COVID19 vaccines. I wound up parking near the Dougherty Station Library and Acorn Learning Center, which is a short walk to the main entrance. APPOINTMENT LINE They'll line you up outside every 6-feet in groups according to your appointment time that you got from the Contra Costa County Health Services "Mychart" app. Very organized and they had two volunteers/staff members there to give instructions and answer questions. REGISTRATION This is in one of the rooms with over half-dozen stations where they'll ask for you ID and insurance card. One scary thing is that they may ask for SSN and Mother's Maiden Name. Yikes. I would recommend declining to answer. Afterwards, my cousin who's a pharmacist said this info is for folks without insurance. The clinic needs to recover costs by billing the government. But still, SSN is a bit too sensitive. They didn't ask me but I did hear folks at other stations get asked. VACCINES This is done in a separate room, and the nurse I had was great - funny and good at putting you to ease. I got the Pfizer vaccine and the process is quick and painless. All those daily Turkish Getups really beefed up my shoulders, LOL. OBSERVATION The last part of the process is to pick one of the "classrooms" and just hang out for 15 mins before leaving. Each room had a nurse who will wipe down the chairs as folks leave. They also have an oxygen tank just in case. Overall a pretty smooth process and well-run operation. Lines moved quickly. The nice thing is your second vaccine appointment is automatically scheduled for you, although you can use the Mychart app to change if needed. 3-6 weeks needed for Pfizer, while 4-6 weeks out for Moderna. read more

I had a great 1 semester experience here right before COVID. I loved my professors as they gave me a great outlook on college life before I transferred to university. Don't underestimate the faculty at DVC simply because it's a community college. A lot of the professors here are research experts in their discipline, coming from prestigious universities like UC Berkeley. Some of them realize how important it is to fulfill education within CC students as well. I feel that I've made closer, supportive relationships with DVC professors compared to my professors at UCSB. I highly recommend visiting this campus if you want intrapersonal connections with your peers and mentors as it's a tight knit, small campus compared to the one in Pleasant Hill. Additionally, my tuition for the first two years was reimbursed including a lot of school expenses compensated for through the COVID-19 emergency grant which they no longer do. Going to DVC has saved me so much money, regained my confidence in higher education, and gave me the opportunity to meet great people, find my higher potential, and transfer into one of my dream universities. Even though I spent only 1 quick semester in-person due to COVID, I had an awesome experience. I am truly grateful for the time I had at DVC and now that I graduated with a bachelors I reflect on this. If I ever want to take any class for fun or take prerequisites for grad school, med school, law school etc. I could always come back here! High school students, people who would like to switch careers, this is the place to be! read more

The best place I know of to get the first dose of a covid vaccine... ; ) Seriously tho, they are very organized and the wait is not long. All the tireless friendly people really make things work. Plenty of close by parking in the lot. I've been there for a first dose twice... Only one for me tho. School wise, seems like a nice place. Dental school here gives very thorough exams and cleaning. I would recommend this place over contra Costa College. They actually care and most of the teachers do live lectures, which is much better than those horrible pre recorded ones. The science labs are harder than ccc but since the teachers are more helpful, I think that makes it better. read more

My son is taking a College for Kids class here for summer. Due to COVID-19, classes are really small and there are very few students on campus. The campus gets good reviews - the facilities are clean and well kept and easy to navigate. I knock one star down only because some of the instructors are very young and inexperience shows. My son's teacher was on her phone while videos were showing in class, and also didn't seem to have as good of a handle on some cautions related to safety in a COVID environment. After some concerns for safety after day one, as related to COVID, I did drop one class for my son. I however kept the other after speaking to the director on expectations of the teacher from a parent's perspective. That second class that I kept is about to conclude tomorrow, and my son has been happy with it. read more

A couple semesters back, I took a few classes here and completely fell in love with the campus! It is an extension, but I feel like it's so much better than the main campus. Although it is a lot smaller and doesn't provide as many courses as the main campus, it still offers a good variety. In addition, there is a bookstore that sells school materials and textbooks, along with some snacks. There is a huge study lounge with computers and vending machines. There is a library, free internet on campus, counselors, food trucks, as well as an on-campus police department. Pretty much everything and anything like the main campus. There is also a courtyard with a fountain that is nice and well-kept. It's definitely a great place to take your breaks or study notes when the weather is warmer. The classrooms and labs here are nicer as it is newer. Best of all, there is free parking and parking has never been an issue for me compared to the main campus. Lastly, the professors and staff members here are AMAZING. They are sweet and sincerely want nothing but the best for you! I have never encountered any mean professors or irritated staff members, and they were always available to help. If you ever need to take a few classes at a CC, I highly recommend DVC, but specifically DVC San Ramon! read more

I'm surprised nobody has rated the San Ramon Valley Campus for DVC. It is much better than other "extension" campuses that I have attended. There's an actual bookstore where you can buy testing materials (yes, I've been to a campus that did not have testing materials!!), snacks, textbooks, and other miscellaneous school supplies. They also have a big reading/study room with free Internet access. The courtyard is also nice and well-maintained. Every Friday, landscaping comes by to cut the grass and just make the place look nice--there's even a fountain! Best of all, it's free parking! read more

I took the Child/Adolescent Development and Psychology class at DVC San Ramon during the summer as a concurrent student when i was in high school. It was a great experience. The teacher was really supportive and fun and I really learned a lot from that class. The DVC San Ramon campus is definitely WAY smaller than the Pleasant Hill campus. Whenever I went there, I always felt like i was going to a resort. The courtyard is very clean and relaxing to walk through. The only downside to this small campus is that the classes are limited and it was pretty quiet (not sure if that's just the summer session though.) read more

I went here for three years before transferring and really enjoyed it here. The campus is small and all parking is pretty close compared to other campuses. It feels really safe here and guess what! They don't charge for parking! At least they didn't when I was going there which was nice. I loved that I didn't ever have to buy a parking permit and then I would also feel safe walking out to my car late at night since this campus is in such a good area. The bookstore is really small so that makes the food options really limited, but they have all the snack like items you could ask for and then they have all the books for the courses at that campus at least. If you are majoring in the subjects they offer here you could just take all your courses here. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is because the courses are really limited at far as whats available. But you can complete your first 2 years of courses here, you just can't be picky about which courses you take to fulfill the requirements. read more

I had an amazing experience today! I went to DVC in pleasant hill in 1995. I didn't do well, dropped out and focused on my career where I am excelling. It has been nagging me for years to go back and get my degree, and I tried in 2011 but just wasn't able to commit. Since then, I've reached out to many colleges to get guidance on my degree. A very reputable state college was willing to take me but because I didn't have some classes down they recommended I go to community college. For the last 2-3 months I've been trying to figure out how this online stuff works. I tried to make counseling appts but never could get a long one where someone could literally teach me what to do and how to figure things out. I left a message yesterday and today I received a call from ANDREA! ANDREA you are amazing! Andrea heard the frantic panic in my voice and calmed me down and spent the time I needed to understand how to navigate the system and sign up for classes. She not only did that, she helped me better my future. I'm soooo grateful Andrea was the one who called me back today. I can't thank her enough. I wish I got her last name to mail her a card or bring her flowers. She really impacted me more than she will know! THANK YOU ANDREA! read more

Beautiful campus. I personally haven't taken any classes there but I have used their library to study and do work there. Very relaxing atmosphere and the students there are pretty professional and considerate in there. I know this is an expansion campus and I have not been to the actual campus but I'm already almost done with school. The campus is in the Windermere (I think this is how you spell it) area and near my place so it makes it very convenient. The only advice I can give to drivers is be careful making that right turning into Watermill and then goes into a "round-a-bout" because there is a yield sign from the apartments nearby and there have been some close encounters with pedestrians and cars. Other than that, it's a nice campus and I enjoy looking at it when I drive back. Hope this helps. read more

DVC at San Ramon campus is way better and the instructors are more strict than other comunity colleges. I like the Student common center but lately some students makes it hard to study there they make a cafe out of it. i have one request from the adimisistration office or simply from the government to make the parking lot bigger and offer enough classes of all majors. read more

I spent my first semester at DVC in San Ramon campus. There are indeed good sides: free parking, free-food event, admission office where you don't have to wait (please note, it's only the wait) for a long time. But to me, the campus is like "dead". Unlike the pleasant hill campus, the students in san ramon don't really hang around on campus after they're done with their class. The levels of clases offered in san ramon are limited. If you are some science or engineering major, you'll have to go to the main campus sooner or later. Last thing, even if you don't have to wait at the admission office for long, their efficiency is low! It took them like 15 min to take care of my transcript request. read more

I am very pleased with my experience at DVC and would definitely recommend it to anyone! I attended a total of four community college (for random reasons) and DVC is my favorite. I went to the Pleasant Hill campus and overall really loved it. I had professors that I respected and was grateful for the lessons they taught me. Two of my professors taught at UC Berkeley and then switched to teaching at DVC because they wanted to invest in community college students. This demonstrates their commitment and love for what they do-qualities that are so incredibly valuable and important! I went to many different counselors and advisors and each of them was so willing to help me and give me guidance. I cannot stress enough how much this stood out to me and how grateful I am for their help in getting me into my dream UC I aimed to transfer to (which is where i am currently). Of course there are ups and downs to any community college, but I would strongly recommend DVC! read more
