At first it was an hour and half for a part to show up, then it was texts sent we have alternate transportation (which showed up but was not for everyone). Then it was we need to disconnect the cars that need the part but will leave soon. Now we need a new crew. Been on the train for 12 hours now. Still not in Chicago. No idea if we will ever leave. Worst communication ever. No idea if anyone is telling the truth because everything we have been told has been wrong if they communicate which they mostly don't. I would suggest you do anything but use Amtrak.

I was also concerned that the driver was frequently distracted by his phone-making calls and texts, as well as scrolling-for much of the drive. It was a very disheartening experience, and I believe it could have been avoided if the driver had been more attentive. Based on this experience, I won't be using South Bend Taxi again. EDIT: I've read the owner's response and would like to clarify a few points. The accident occurred on an empty street around 5:30 AM with no traffic, and I was the one who contacted the police. We resumed our trip after the officer arrived and the police report was completed, as the officer said that an insurance claim couldn't be filed if the driver left prior to completion. I can't say I noticed if the neighborhood was "sketchy" as the response claims, but I'm also not certain I see how it's related to the incident. While I've had several successful rides with this company in the past, I've consistently observed drivers using their phones directly in hand, not via Bluetooth. Regarding reimbursement, I had not been informed of any prior to reading this reply; the owner simply asked me to reach out, and when I called, I received no response. Unfortunately, the company's reply seems to misrepresent the situation at certain points.
