My driver hit a dog during my ride, and while I'm not sure of the outcome, it appeared to be a serious (potentially fatal) injury. I was also concerned that the driver was frequently distracted by his phone-making calls and texts, as well as scrolling-for much of the drive. It was a very disheartening experience, and I believe it could have been avoided if the driver had been more attentive. Based on this experience, I won't be using South Bend Taxi again. EDIT: I've read the owner's response and would like to clarify a few points. The accident occurred on an empty street around 5:30 AM with no traffic, and I was the one who contacted the police. We resumed our trip after the officer arrived and the police report was completed, as the officer said that an insurance claim couldn't be filed if the driver left prior to completion. I can't say I noticed if the neighborhood was "sketchy" as the response claims, but I'm also not certain I see how it's related to the incident. While I've had several successful rides with this company in the past, I've consistently observed drivers using their phones directly in hand, not via Bluetooth. Regarding reimbursement, I had not been informed of any prior to reading this reply; the owner simply asked me to reach out, and when I called, I received no response. Unfortunately, the company's reply seems to misrepresent the situation at certain points. I'll add a star to my rating because I appreciate the positive experiences I've had previously and can confirm that I've had good customer service in the past, but I remain concerned about the recurring inattentiveness I've witnessed while riding with this company read more

Scheduled a taxi pickup online but the driver never arrived at the scheduled time. When I texted dispatch for an update, I received no response at all. Had to book a Lyft instead to get where I needed to go. Would not recommend this company if you need dependable transportation. read more

I was in South Bend, IN for business and had a very difficult time getting an Uber to the airport. I searched the web and stumbled across South Bend Taxi. I left a message and within 15 mins. I received a call from Gerard! He was my Godsend. Excellent service!!! Always On time, helpful with my luggage, and very polite. I recommended him to others and they felt the same. I made a reservation to pick me up at 11:30pm at the South Bend airport. I got a email and text confirmation for the reservation. When I landed, no one showed up. I called my driver and the company, but no one picked up. Other people at the airport told me that their drivers from South Bend Taxi had also bailed on them. An hour later, we all gave up hope that South Bend Taxi would honor our reservations and everyone got out through whatever means were available. Some rented cars for a day while some took taxis from other companies that had showed up. They are able to pick up in the early mornings thank goodness! Lyft and Uber are very unpredictable but I was able to make a 7am flight with a 5:45am pick up time. Unfortunately I ended up dropping my AirPods and thought I lost them but they fell in the taxi. Called Andrew and he was so incredibly helpful on finding my AirPods and returning them! I was a little anxious about finding a shuttle from South Bend airport to a neighboring town and saw this service had good Yelp reviews. They were outstanding with communication, got my flight number and were ready and waiting when we flew in. They picked me up 4 days later and returned us to the airport - and texted the day of as a reminder- the vans are new, clean and non smoking! They were great! I was a little bummed when the first driver got turned around (confusing area) and added the extra miles to our bill- but I just didn't tip as much so that seemed like an easy fix- read more

This is a family owned business in South Bend Indiana. The vehicles receive dispatch on a timely basis, the drivers are unbelievably helpful exactly who you want to deal with on a good day, these people make you laugh and help you on a bad day. Andrew was so instrumental in making our trip hassle-free. I was able to set up everything over the phone with him from Boston. He picked us up in Chicago right on time (early, in fact) and drove us to Notre Dame. He even took the time to help me find a place for my family to store our luggage. Then, he drove us all the way back to Ohare airport from Notre Dame - on New Year's Day! He was responsive, professional, and friendly throughout the whole process. I don't understand all the high reviews for this company. My experiences were mediocre at best. For the one ride I have managed to get from this company, the driver had his mask below his chin the entire ride, which I would hope is a gross violation of COVID-related company policy. Another time I tried to schedule a ride in advance through their website, and the driver never showed up. Because of this company's incompetence, I almost missed the last SouthShore Line train home from South Bend to Chicago and I would have been stranded here. In order to help me get home, my boyfriend had to borrow a car from his friend's girlfriend in order to get me back to the South Bend airport with two minutes to spare. That said, this company is my last resort for public transportation, and I would encourage anyone to avoid it if possible. read more

Someone called my cell back having seen the missed call - no apology - said he was in the middle of an airport drop and could come pick me up after and that I shouldn't worry about being late because the airport is small. Our 16-year old son was at Notre Dame alone this summer and had to catch a 6am flight out of South Bend. Andrew was wonderful to work with over distance. He agreed to pick him up at a certain time and was great about reconfirming pick up the night before. I've never felt so unsafe in a car before. Everything about this experience was absolutely horrible. The driver changed the time for pick up with just 20 minutes notice. Once I got in the car the driver stopped to pick up someone else without asking or letting me know. This was very scary given drivers are not supposed to pick up extra people & it was completely out of the way. We ended up waiting for 10 minutes for the extra person. I was late to my destination. Do NOT recommend at all. Don't waste your money on such a horrible service. Take an uber or lyft instead. Much safer, more reliable, and they pick you up on time. read more

My father and I went to visit my grandmother and were alarmed to find out our original taxi company of choice had gone out of business. We found this company through Yelp and were ecstatic! Not only were they easy to reach but they gave us text updates to let us know their eta, traffic issues on the way so we'd know where to avoid back, and confirmations all the way to reassure us all would be taken care of. Out taxi drivers name was Andrew. An exceptional driver and very kind friendly educated young man. It was a pleasure chatting with him for the long drive. After getting stranded just over the Michigan border, I was desperate to find a ride and thankfully called South Bend Taxi. We were traveling from out of town and had our very scared, very large rescue dog with us on the side of the highway. Andrew was able to pick us up in a van and drive us quite a ways out to our final destination as our vehicle got towed.
