Last Saturday, while biking on Haynes Point, I had a breakdown I couldn't fix. I needed a cab ride to my car in alexandria. I called Diamond cab around 3:30pm for a cab. Temps outside were about 56 deg., had my bike outfit on and standing there I started to get chilly. Well, over 3 hours later and four phone calls later someone finally showed up around 7pm to pick me up. By then I was chilled to the bone. The problem as I see it is that Diamond doesn't own any of the cabs, the drivers own them and franchise out their cab for service..., if they don't feel like picking someone up, they won't and Diamond is complicit in this behavor. Worst customer service ever!!!! I just called to schedule a pickup for a customers that has a physical disability and can't walk too far to catch a cab. The woman who answered the call was completely rude and indiferent. She even hung up the phone as I was trying to ask a question. My coworker tried to call back to check on the status and once again the same woman said "They will call you" and hung up the phone again! I will NEVER give a cent to this company. I live in NW DC, and I have never once had a problem with Diamond Cab, who I use every few months. They always arrive on time or a little early and are clean, direct, etc. I'm sorry that others on Yelp have had bad experiences, but I wonder if they represent the minority, because really, all has been fine with me. read more

One of their cab driver was about to hit me on the crosswalk in Dupond Circle. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the licence plate number. The driver had a long beard and he was an older guy. I am in the process of looking for another cab company for my re-occurring work related taxi rides. This company offers by far, the worst cab service I have dealt with. Assuming I had just gotten "lucky" with the bad first couple of rides, I gave them 5 tries, but every time only proved how bad they are, on all aspects. When you call, the people that answer the phone are unprofessional and unfriendly, most of them. The cabs do not show up. When they do show up, is after multiple follow-up calls. One time a cab called 1-hour and 10 minutes later saying he was outside, needless to say, I had already taken another cab. Another time, a driver called 54 minutes later, to ask if I had ordered a cab. The cars are not always clean either. With so many competitors, and with the new wave of phone apps to order cabs, I would guess this people will be unemployed (out of business) at some point. read more

Recently a friend and I took transportation hone from a night out- his uber ride was $15 because of surge pricing and my cab ride was $10 with tip. Cab rides in DC are simply much cheaper than Uber. Don't know where the urban legend came from that they aren't. read more

Diamond Cab is awful! It was a snowy night and I had a black-tie event to get to. Knowing it would be busy, I called 1 1/2 hours early for a cab to pick me up at 6 p.m. The dispatcher said no problem. 6 o'clock came and went, then 6:15 and 6:30 -- no cab. We called and the operator ARGUED with us, saying that SHE never told us it was on its way, someone ELSE had. Its the same company! Regardless, she also told us that she was waiting to see if someone was coming our way (H Street corridor, we know, its "out of the way") any time soon and that she thought we should go grab any cab driving by because it might be all night waiting. Today a Diamond cab driver found my wallet in his cab. He used my doctors appointment card to call their office and get my work phone number. He called me at that number and drove back to my office to return the wallet. I offered him some cash but he refused. I forced him to accept $40.00, well worth the hassle of replacing my drivers license etc. I don't know if this reflects on Diamond Cab in general, but then again, do any of these reviews? i used this company yesterday morning to get from Logan Circle to National Airport for a 7:00 a.m. flight. I called the night before and, while the phone connection was not good, the dispatcher was very courteous. I scheduled a cab to arrive at 4:30 a.m. I called back later to modify that to 5:30 and there was no problem in conversation with the dispatcher. My taxi arrived at 5:22 and called me, and I went downstairs at 5:30. The driver was courteous and everything was fine. So if you are looking for an early morning pick-up to get to the airport, Diamond worked fine for me. read more

When I called the dispatcher was one of the rudest and most unfriendly people I have ever dealt with, It should have been my first warning. The taxi I ordered never showed up so I walked to the nearest large intersection. Once there I flagged down a taxi which happened to be a Diamond Taxi. I asked the driver to take a certain route and he started yelling at me. When I told him that it was fine and to proceed on his selected route he started screaming that he didn't have time for this. Wish I could give zero stars. Called to request a pick-up. Took almost 10 minutes to get the operator to accurately enter my phone number and address. She evidently never finished third grade, because she was completely incapable of recording my street correctly, although I slowly spelled it out for her numerous times. Once she finally figured it out and found it in the system, I was told a cab would be there soon to pick me up. I even received a call 5 minutes later from a gentleman telling me "cab 314 will arrive in a couple minutes." After waiting a half hour, I called dispatch to check on the status. To my utter disbelief, they had no record of my request, and I heard several people discussing in the background and no one seemed to know anything. I was finally transferred to someone who seemed halfway competent and claimed to be a supervisor, who apologized for the mix up, took my information again and assured me a cab would be there soon. I waited thirty more minutes, again no word, and, thoroughly frustrated, left to walk to the bus stop. To my astonishment, I came across a Diamond cab and not two blocks from my house, who promptly stopped when I flagged him down. Upon entering the cab, I asked if he had received a call for my pick up, and was informed that he had heard nothing on the radio, even though he had recently checked in and given his location in my neighborhood. I will NEVER, under any circumstances, call them again, and hopefully you will save yourself the time and frustration and call someone, anyone else. read more

I have been using Diamond Taxi for 20 years or more, and i travel a lot (3-5 trips per year). I always ask for an advance reservation. I have NEVER had a taxi show up other than early - except once when there was a mixup on the address, which was quickly corrected. Maybe some dispatchers are scratchy - i think they have improved, but the taxi drivers have always been very polite, helpful with my bag, and good conversationalists. read more

DO NOT USE Diamond Cab. You will wait for hours before finally recognizing that they are NEVER GOING TO SHOW UP. If you call to check up on the cab, they will alternate between lying that your cab is "on the way" and simply hanging up on you. We reserved a cab the night before and called again in the morning 15 minutes before the cab was supposed to come and it never came. Called again once they were 10 minutes late, spoke to a different person who said they would send a cab right away. Five minutes later, we took it upon ourselves to call out a van taxi (As we needed to hold six people) and as we were on our way to Union Station, they called again asking to confirm our location. If we had waited for them, we would have missed our train home. Ridiculous! read more

DO NOT USE DIAMOND CAB!! Our driver tried to cheat us on the cab fare. When I called to schedule a pickup time with the main office, they quoted me a fare of "definitely no more than $20" to get from Van Ness to Reagan Airport (DCA). The next day, as the driver was pulling into the departures terminal, I noticed that the fare meter was not turned on. Then, we arrived, he quoted us a fare of $27.35 (Perhaps he thought the non-round number makes the fare seem more legit.) When I told him that I was quoted a fare of no more than $20, he stammered and insisted that $27.35 was the fare. When I then asked him why the meter was not turned on, he got more agitated and asked "Well, what do you want to pay then?", which clearly indicates that the $27.35 fare was made up since he was suddenly so flexible in negotiating a proper fare. Since I was calling for someone I asked her to give me a second to find out. Cutting me off she said, "Call someone else," and promptly hung up. So I never write reviews like this, but I have never been treated worse than I was by this cab company. I ordered a cab with plenty of time to spare (an hour) and the cabbie arrived late. When I called to inquire, I was put on hold and left on hold-- for 6 minutes and 37 seconds! I hung up and phoned back and was put on hold again.
